SPM (single point mooring) maneuvering.

This is how an SPM mooring is done in the terminal I work in. it is basically just approaching the buoy at a safe speed and ending up with your bow close enough to pick up the messenger line connected to the hawser (the thick line with a piece of chain that keeps the ship connected to the buoy). We have the assistance of 1 tug for the approach. Once fast to the buoy, we let go the tug from deck and make it fast on the stern. The tug will keep the ship away from the buoy at all times during cargo operations.
