If anyone is saying they don’t like the long videos. They can just watch it at higher speed. I prefer the longer the video you make the better. You are a well of inspiration and knowledge. I love your stuff and you are definitely the cloud master...
I do the same with audiobooks. Excellent idea!
You know, I was really wondering how he was painting so fast, and I realized I had already had it on 2x speed 😂😅
Still very enjoyable both ways
I agree, don’t worry about length… we have the option of speeding up or jumping back. I am more interested in watching your technique than how long the video is…
Thank you so much for what you do. It’s always a pleasure and a learning experience.
What a stunning painting. I must say I enjoyed the plain sky for a change and it really looks so moody and ready for a downpour. Thanks very much for a most interesting tutorial.
I love your technique Stuart, l love watching you create and l love your British sense of humor! You are such a delight all the way around! You literally have me laughing out loud. I don’t know if anyone else catches your humor; maybe it’s just me. 🤷🏻♀️ I think tomorrow l will try your technique. It’s too dark and late to start up now, l will be up all night. Lol. I find nature light the best light to paint. (I have been watching and following you for months and have been building up my confidence to give it a shot.
Looks so easy but to get this good result you need to practise a lot , love this painting
Finally think I’m getting the illusion of detail without detail. Worked on my first landscape last night while watching one of the longer videos but went on into another video since my painting session was still going. Thank you for all you do! Yesterday was the first time I painted and DID not get stressed and frustrated and decide to burn it. Lol
Simple but eloquent with wonderful color harmony.
You make this look so easy, makes me realise how many years I lost when I could have been developing my painting skills! You have encouraged me to try this style which is very different from the soft pastels I have been using for the last few years. Thank you for your wise words about not worrying, it's only paint - I'm trying :-)
You never disappoint Stuart, you have a light touch with a brush. So relaxing.
Thank you.
I really enjoyed this wonderful tutorial Stuart. Awesome painting.
I am inspired by you as I said at the age of 80 I have learned new hobby....my first love is helping people with heart disease which I have done well now for over 45 years Thank you...Vinod Shah
Thanks for the free lesson's and Id say it's scary thinking of what you do on your own!! incredible talent Mr Davies. thanks for sharing..
Thank you for such a brief video and a good lesson. I like your videos since I find myself turned into an interest in tonals.
A joy to watch as usual. Looks so easy……..then I try, gently daubing paint, darks first, thinking of the light, attempt to mix the various tones, distance, perspective, oops a little accident, not worrying…….slowly start to notice spots of sludge, it’s getting bigger. Move to another part of the painting, ends with audible blue tones. Rest now. Try again later. Watch another video to get into the SD mindset, and on I go. Keep practising it will come……god grant me patience but please let me have it now! Love your paintings, videos and never worry about getting in the way. One thing I would like is longer to see the finished picture. Many thanks for all you do for us newbies. Take care Val
I paint with acrylics, but your lessons on perspective and tone are universal.
I always learn something new from watching you paint. You are always encouraging!
Thank you for this incredible lesson. The painting is beautiful and I learnt so much by watching it and listening to you. Thank you from India
Stuart, when you went to college and you were taught about art, I don't think the teacher talked at 90 miles an hour and you were encouraged to speed up on your drawings or painting. The people that want the speed videos are not interested in learning they just want to be entertained. I think you want to be a teacher not an entertainer. You just need to do what you think is best for you. Your true students will always be with you. By the way you are a Great teacher, and we love and appreciate you sharing your awesome knowledge with us. Praying for you good health. God Bless.
Thank you. Learning from everyone I watch.
I love the long videos! The longer the better! What a wonderful landscape this one is too tuart, the sky and the water are fabulous! I must say you are VERY generous sharing these wonderful videos with all of us ...I REALLY appreciate them, and look forward to the next one :)!!!
Great demo Stuart. Thank you.
Wonderful! It's such a peaceful (no drama) scenery, I really like it. I especially like the color of the sky and also the tonality of the entire painting. It looks easy when watching the video, but if I had to do it myself, it would still be difficult. Thank you a lot!
I just discovered your channel last night and I'm glad I did. I am a painter also but I usually paint 'tight. I was always too intimidated to loosen up and I swear I don't know why. It's so silly. I mean, it's only paint and can be changed. I have to get out of the mindset I'm in about painting and your videos are going to help me do just that hopefully. In all of my paintings I focus on details which works beautifully for the type of paintings I do but it's very tedious and is a strain on my eyes. I'm happy with my paintings but now it's time to try another technique.
I really enjoy watching you paint. You are so relaxed and I love the way you swipe on the paint with the big brushes. At first it looks like a mess but then it all comes together in a magical way. This is how I want to paint.
Thank You for sharing your talent and knowledge.
Most calm relaxing voice and great teacher
Thank you. Brilliant teaching yet again.
Most beautiful painting dear 👌wonderful sharing ❤
Simply incredible! Thank you
that grey sky is hipnotic
I always learn something when I watch this guy. :D
Your paintings are exquisite.
So simple, yet so stunning! Love it, Stuart!
Very nice way of teaching, I appreciate you. Thanks
I lovey this, Stuart! This is a tutorial for all skill levels. As usual, I learned so much! Looking forward to the next one!❤️❤️❤️
I've missed you Stuart! So glad to see your video come up on my feed. And I may just take you up on your demo-class in July. I've experimented with your techniquess before & got some wonderful results. (Oh, and I'm glad to hear you run over-time. The best online teachers are about the TEACHING & conveying information. Not watching the clock.)
Hi, I don't usually comment. I watch all your lessons and have learnt so much. Thankyou from Perth Australia.
I never paint the lightning bolt but the light reflection. I have got much better at this watching your videos. People have even told me they liked my lightning picture. Thank You. Sometimes I watch your videos 2 or 3 times. They are never too long.
Beautiful!! Simple scene shows thats all you need right? You are a marvelous, wonderful teacher. I always enjoy listening to you talk and all your tips you give. Thank You so much!!
Thanks so much 😊
Simple. Effective. Captivating!
That is gorgeous!
really enjoy painting along to these
Thank you, Stuart. I have just found your videos and I am finding them very useful. I am just learning to use oils.
Simple and difficult at the time. Thanks for the lesson.
Absolutely beautiful.!! Again.!!! Thank you. From USA 🤗
I watch your videos so paint how ever long you like, I'm going no wheres and I like to see you paint, I wouldn't have subscribed to your RUclips if I didn't. People complain about everything, they think life was designed just for them. It's your show, do as you please.
I painted it today. Great fun. Thanks 😊
so simple so beautiful
just wonderful R.C. Matthews
I want to thank you for the joy you have brought into my life. I watch you every evening before dinner for the past 2 years. Thank you so much. On 1 video you were talking about how to paint lamp posts Or trees in a straight diminishing line, said you were gobsmacked when your teacher showed you how. You would show us how in a forth coming video. I never saw it, could you please explain it? Thank you Stuart for the pleasure you brought to me!
Thanks for the reminder, Linda! I will explain it in my next video, which will be in about a week.
Looks great, incredible this was done in under 1h. Always a pleasure to watch.
Beautiful painting and thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Very entertaining, you are a master of light and illusion, and very inspiring with your techniques.
I love this one! 😀 Thank you.
Beautiful! Thank you very much!!
Wonderful, Stuart! Thank you very much.
Nice find :) happy to be here and look forward to seeing and learning more from your artwork :) Thankyou
Bon' Apetité ~ Thanks ~ Fun learning from you. You're so relaxing and wow you taught all this in 30 mins 👍🏼
And you crack me up ... "that's
the path of doom" 😄
I suffer from cloud syndrome 🙃. I like a dramatic sky. I end up frustrated. Watching your videos gives me more ideas. I started painting to paint over my anxiety. I've completed my 5th painting so far.
Stuart I really enjoyed this video really learnt a lot it was really useful and I had fun doing it thank you 🙏
That was wonderful. Absolutely delighted to see another one. It’s astonishing how you managed all that in under 36 minutes. Someone commented that your method takes practice. I would agree that your style of brushwork def takes practice. Requires one to build up that good old muscle memory. I’m starting to get it, but def need to work at it more
I also think knowing where to remove paint & how, takes practice bc it requires some finesse that can’t be achieved w/o it. For example, in the sky when you’re making lighter areas for “clouds), or adding greenery to your landscape, etc.. it’s not just dabbing some of the paint off, & the way one folds or crinkles the paper towel, it’s knowing where & how one moves it to lift or push the paint to proper effect.
Currently, my brain is far better at this style of painting than my hands, but I know that I’ll get it w/ practice, determination, & frankly, studying these tutorials when I get stuck. I’ve watched some 4-5x when I’ve needed to in order to achieve a level of competence I feel good about. These have been such a gift. Ty Professor
Wonderful again Stuart!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Thank you, Stuart.
Loved this painting. Enjoyed video. Would be very interested in how you do your waterfalls! This stream looks so real! Thanks for sharing.
25:19 "this was not a happy tree". I am still laughing...Greetings from Michael Andalucia/Spain.
Fantastic Stuart!!!
Nice one Stuart.Thank you.
Very nice and so quick! I get out quite a lot but haven't come across tree trunks rising above the foliage very often...I'm sure they do though sometimes.
This is going to my top 5
You guys are so amazing. 👍👍👍👍👍
Beautiful as always! Thank you for sharing
Stewie this is awesome!
Beautiful work, Sir.
Awesome!!
I like long videos and I like to hear you explain your work!! I saw a quick video an artist did with no sound. Very upsetting to me!!!
Magnifique, merci.
We see nature as it is..vibrant chaotic rapture..and so, comforting language of experience through painting clarifies without hazard, offering a sort of journal or observation.
Hi Stuart ~ appreciation for offering these ' armchair ' adventures in wilderness ~ vicarious experience through drawing, painting...as a traveller in remote terrain, twigged to essential effect being translation of event into a pictorial that others may understand..and this comprehension is the gift of joy. Artist may resonate in direct harmony with historic rambles in nature, paint that sensibility so that observers know also, mystery.
Further, it is not enough to copy ' Tonalist ' painting...for without knowledge of place, atmosphere, scent, weather and so on from walking in wild places, true gesture is absent.
I have been watching you for quite a while and like it. I am 88 years old retired Chef from Switzerland living in California since 1959. My hobbies are cooking, Golf and Painting with Acrylic. I know you use oil, so I was trying to do a landscape painting "your style" with Acrylics, is there a way I can show it to you? I am curieuse.
Love the doodle amazing
Wonderful. Thanks for sharing
Love how you paint. You said, when you wiped off the dark red from your brush, "You know what I think of turpentine." But I don't. What do you think of turpentine? Is it that it makes the paint too thin, or is the problem that it smells and is toxic?
Mostly because it's toxic.
Fantastic!
A masterpiece
That’s a beautiful painting! I just love this channel!
Thank you so much 😀
Wow, beautiful :-)!
He’s back! 😊
You can also use the edge of a pallet knife to put in tree trunks and branches.
Hi awesome class. So enjoy it
Thank you, hope I remember these great tips.
That was wonderful thank you
I love your videos, they are very inspiring, but it's so hard for me get my but off the floor and start something. I have started now and again but when I see my trials I stop because it looks so dreadfully bad. But I shall try again when I have picked up my courage. I also wanted to ask you a question about linseed oil, is it the raw or boiled variety you use?
Boiled, I think!
Simple, but superb 👍.
why make it difficult, when IT can be done easily. thank you inspiring 👍
Stuart, your the bees knees, hope you're well.
Brilliant im gonna try tp paint this its lovely.. from sam ..Belfast northern-ireland
Thank you. Very good. Sensacional. Excelente. Muito bom!!!!!!!!
Sr Davis, when will be the next zoom class? Thanks, love your work!
Thank you! The next one is 28 November: withribbon.com/s/328107
What a wonderful lesson. Amazing Stuart. It felt like watching Constable or Gainsborough at work all over again, thanks for this one. Will you be putting one or two characters walking in the field?
Thank you! I tend to not add people in my paintings.
Wonderful painting ❤❤❤
Well Stuart, all I can say is: Thanks!
thank you for all your work and inspiration.
Merci beaucoup !!!!
