That dubbing would be great in a more traditional crawfish pattern

Hey Cheech, which do you like better, the bugger bou or the fish hunter maribou?

I’m new to tying and love your videos. I’m curious why you don’t tie the hackle in by the tip in the same spot you tie in your wire and dubbing? Wouldn’t it be more secure?

    • @FlyFishFood

If you tie it in using the "reverse palmer" technique, the wire and hackle are wrapped in opposite directions. This way the wire crosses over the hackle stem with each wrap. If a fish eats this and breaks the hackle stem, the wire will still hold it in place due to how it's tied in. It's a great technique that you can use in a wide range of flies like the elk hair caddis, the stimulator, etc etc.

Can you fit a fire hole at 4.0 mm nicely on this size hook?

Yes, that would work fine as well.

    What's your favorite bugger hack?

I like to break off the Marabou fibers to even them out a little bit on the tail. I have been tying and fishing Tim Cammisa's chili pepper wooly bugger which is similar to this and it has been very productive this year
