These ruins were just up the road from my home in Carterton. I spent many an afternoon with friends sitting on the grass having a picnic and then a nap. We'd search the ruins for buried rings and such and then at nightfall tell ghost stories. It was a lovely time then.
This story originated as a poem 'Ginevra' by Samuel Rogers in his book, 'Italy' (published in 1822). Rogers wrote in the notes of this book that the Legend was founded on fact, but could not recall where it took place or when... but the poem is set in the city of Modena and she was said to have married Francesco Doria.
I've lost count the amount of nights I've spent at Minster Lovell Abbey. Amazing place.. Really peaceful. Apart from the swans that wander around scaring the crap out of you in the dead of night. lol.. well worth a visit
So sad! but romantic, i think to "le baron fantôme" ( the ghost baron) a movie from 1943 by Jean Cocteau, where a young girl is trapped in a secret room she find, with the corpse of the castel' baron disepeared years ago. (Sorry for my bad English)

I'd heard that story before but I couldn't remember where the story took place. Thanks!
Great story. I hope it's only a legend.
Great stuff keep them coming

Kind of scary when you imagine what she must have gone through being stuck in that chest. And how much he must have loved her.
