In this episode, Lurch and Ryan are joined by Patron Member Brad Johnston. Ryan recently purchased a 2024 Harley-Davisdon Street Glide and with it came a Harley Owners Group (HOG) membership. It's been ten years since Ryan bought a new bike. He didn't keep his HOG membership going from the new biker purchase in 2024. Both Lurch and Brad are current HOG members. They talk about the membership and whether it is worth keeping.

I’ve had a HOG Membership from when started in 1983. And bought Life Membership of HOG from when first offered. The Annual charge may seem more than you receive. But we’ll worth to upgrade to Life. Tried local HOG chapters. It depends on location and leadership if any good. I’m currently not with a local chapter. It’s over 60 miles away (one way) so I’ll go on HOG rides occasionally. But good information on National events and HOG privileges. I, personally have registered for the Harley-Davidson Mileage Program and currently am at 550,000 miles. 😊
When it comes to cost vs benefits, if depends on what you use. It saves me 17% with my monthly ATT Cellphone charges and upgrade on Membership to Platinum with Best Western Hotel that gives discounts and Priority room availability. Worth more than the amount I paid for Life Membership.
I’m also a long time member of Widows Sons. It’s a Masonic Riding Club.
I’ve been a member of the HOG chapter hosted by Brunswick H-D in New York, for several years. Our Chapter rides…at least once a week and full days, 200+ miles…and the Chapter plans at least 3-4 multi-day overnight trips every year.

Our IMRG has been getting a lot of unhappy H.O.G. members joining the chapter over the past few years because even though we're an Indian group we welcome all brands. We have a large variety of rides that range from 150 miles to 300+ mile days and out-of-state weekend rides. No commitment, no dues, no harassment....just great fellowship and riding! Also I tried to get the Footbrake with the Law Abiding Biker Store. But not available.
It seems like all the local HOG folks do is hang around dealerships on the weekends. I see some of the guys with vests with rockers for a ton of miles, I'm guessing those are done in group rides because I've never seen a group of them ride anywhere.
In January 2023, Tentrr filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Not real sure what kind of deal through HOG you’ll get now, maybe a cut price on a used tent. 😎
