In this action-packed episode, Darin and I face an unexpected challenge: pouring a house basement floor with just the two of us. With our third team member missing, we had to adapt quickly to manage a hefty 10 yards of concrete on our own. Watch as we navigate through this massive task, employing every trick in the book to ensure a flawless finish.
Our journey begins with the meticulous preparation of the site, followed by the arrival of the concrete. We introduce you to the tools of the trade that made this job possible: the vibrating screed for an initial level, the self-leveling laser for precision grade checks throughout the pour, Kumalongs for pulling and raking the concrete into place, mag floats for smoothing the edges to perfection, and the indispensable bull float for that final touch of smoothness over the entire surface.
This video is not just about overcoming the odds; it's a masterclass in concrete pouring. We'll share insights into how we efficiently worked together, coordinating our movements and strategies to cover the entire area. Our techniques and tips are invaluable for contractors, DIY enthusiasts, homeowners, business people, entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in the art of concrete work.
From the initial pour to the final smoothing, join us for an hour of hard work, resilience, and teamwork, culminating in a beautifully poured basement floor that stands as a testament to what two determined people can achieve. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting, this video is packed with lessons, techniques, and inspiration for your next concrete project.

Hey Mike , this one has been posted before ,but never gets old, great work
Yeah, but this one has the post-production voiceover commentary. So that is different and useful. Also, this one has shots from the stationary outside camera, which the other video didn't; it was only Mike's head cam.
Looks good Mike & Darin … Darin definitely worked harder , He needs a raise for todays work efforts
Well it looks like we found Darin's RUclips channel... 😂
Why pour from the outside edge in, instead of the hillside wall to outside edge?
Great job! 38 years that’s a long time. June I’m licensed 35 years. You guys are smart, water reducer and vibrating screed. It takes years to be able to do that just two guys.
You 2 men definitely make it look easy. Most guys would have that concrete a mess.
Near my partner back in the day.Used to pull barns on the side thirty forty yards The 20 us
I love your videos man. Keep it up! Im going to do the side of my garage this summer and your videos are a huge help
Great job guys!
Nice work.
Good job boys ...we pour with 2 man all the time ..with no water reducer ...it's wild ...lol may try your trick old.buddy .
Question from us who would do it themselves or also with one other person. Do most of the drivers give you that much time or is 30 minutes what they should be hanging around to do?
Depends where you are every plant is different. Some give 20 minutes per yard some are a base 45 minute that's it
How much $ does the water reducer cost per yard? Thanks!
Hard work! It’s not a problem holding the truck there while you screed?
Not if you buy enough concrete throughout the year. It was only a 45-minute pour, so not too bad.
Mike, when you order with the water reducer, do you order it with a specific slump? If it comes too tight can you add water to it?
Hi, you have it down! How much does the power skreed weigh?
Darrin worked harder for sure!!😂
Water reducer, gas and electric screeds, I’m jealous!! We worked with 4-5” slumps and when I sometimes had to help with the screed, my Back! Ohhh my back. 😂 God bless. You guys got a great system. I see guys just doin what’s next without a lot of verbalizing. COOL‼️
She flows like buttermilk, Mike !! LOL
The two of us
Supposed to use it at the site mixed for fifteen minutes minimum
How far away is the plant/how long a drive?
It was 40 minutes on this job.
Hey Mike, Greg from north Georgia years ago I had a buddy make me a steel ladder we could hook over the top of the wall
What's the story with the driver , think it's time to pack it in yet?
Id say they suck equally haha. Darins a beast
I dont think it looks thst loose tbh
Did you post this before? I swear iv watched that pour already
Don't you get tired of explaining the water reducer and why you use it,I know I do.
Dont u need rebars? Just curious
