I don't think Chuck did much research on Finney. Finney in his own words said that Jesus paid for his sins on the cross and we're to follow His example by living a Holy life and if we fall short in any way we've lost our salvation until we repent. If Jesus was paying for His own sins on the cross then Christ wasn't worthy to be the perfect sacrifice for man. Finney was saved by his own efforts because obviously it's Christ's blood that saved him. Sadly, if Finney didn't repent and rely on what Christ did on the cross for him he's burning right now.
