Thanks! I appreciate your testing method. I've used a capture card too, and it was my first time using one. Getting the proper aspect ratio was hard for me because I didn't know how to use the software on my desktop PC. Capturing straight from the Steam Deck will be SO much simpler for me!
Not sure if anyone noticed, but in linux there is no microphone options like in the windows version. I hope they fix that soon. For me the recording works great but no mic.
@SergeyMoskvinStories ah, thats because its two different OS and file systems, I use google drive to upload files from the Deck and then download them on my PC
Is there a way to set it up to imitate xbox or playstation clip system? Like pressing a certain button combination to get a clip of the last 30 seconds, instead of just recording the whole play session and then trimming the clip after
Yeah it works pretty much like that. By default it will record the last 2 hours, not 30 seconds but you can limit that. It's not precisely like xbox or PS where the Share button will instantly share. Instead you'd first need to clip it and then share it, but its better than PS/xbox in this aspect because the timeline will show you key moments where something in the game happened, making it easier to find the right part to clip
what's infuriating with Decky recorder is switching to Desktop mode. Ever since I installed it, Its a hit or miss if it allows me to go to Desktop mode or not. Most of the time upon switching to Desktop mode, it just shows a black screen. Its still in Desktop mode now yes since u can hear the charging sfx when u plug a charger which I think u only get to hear when in Desktop mode. So I just keep on restarting until Decky decides to not black my screen. Eventually I uninstalled it and finally I dont get black screen.
Ty for replying I got the steam+A to work after an update but I figured I could change the shortcut from the Steam+A to like the R4 button lol so oh well
I didn't get it to change but it seems like it is a possible option in the button edit menu but when I back out after editing new command for recording it doesn't stick just stays Steam+A

Awesome Steam feature!

Oh ive had that happen, had no idea Decky Recorder was causing it
@@rcarlom9882 turn it off before you switch to desktop. That helped me avoid the blank screen a lot.
I can't get the manual hotkeys to work for recording. I also can't apparently change then from default Steam+A and ideas?
I am unsure why they don't work, but you can't change them unfortunately.

How to open pb files
Watch the video again, after you exit a game you have to open the Game Summary and export the clips from there to turn it into an mp4 format
