This was a very funny lap. Thanks Micha. This was the last weekend at Nord for my trusty C55T. It´s now retired to "daily only". It was a lot of fun on Cup2, but I cannot recommend it. Too much grip for an old cars suspension.
Honestly haven't had this much fun watching a lap in along time. That thing is actually pretty sick, if it ended up getting built out further with better suspension( though bouncing is fun haha) a more responsive engine build and a manual swap or some sort of better response time paddle shift it would be insane. Props to that guy.
You could swap out the transmission ecu for a Faster Stiftung one. LegitStreetCars used one in his e55 or cl65 (i dont remember) with the shifting settings from an slr
@@remstesthd6784 They don't have to be. As the other respondent said you can put SLR settings into the 5.5l boxes and for the latter M156's you can put the SLS settings into them and then they're just a smidge slower than a DQ500 off an RS3...
C55s are such underappreciated cars. They've aged really well imo. N/A big V8, small package, RWD, hydraulic steering. This was a car that had an identical time on the Ring as the e46 M3. The C55 has more hp and torque but weighs about 200lbs more than the M3. It handles very well for what it is; an Autobahn cruiser. But these were very evenly matched cars back in the early 2000s. This car definitely should've been offered with a manual gearbox though.
Genuinely great to see a car this old (but this capable) being treated to good parts (great brakes, great suspension, great tyres - that last one louder for those at the back, GREAT TYRES), with an owner who clearly isn't scared of spending good money for good parts. Kudos to him for that, the car seems incredibly capable.
As an aside to almost all of your videos, as an English person it always surprises me how well you and your non native English passengers are able to effortlessly communicate in a relatively stressful situation. I'm sure if I were Scandinavian, Dutch, German or French or whatever, I would be fearfully swearing in my own tongue around the whole lap. I am still looking forward to the 2CV or Renault 4 lap. Love the channel.

I didn’t before today appreciate how bumpy that circuit is. Normally the cars are set up with varying degrees of track functionality and the bumps don’t translate to the video. But after this I have a whole new perspective. Cool video.

I'm not a mechanic and I wonder the same thing. I would do a quick inspection on the lift to make sure breaks and suspension look ok. Flying on a track like that in a car modified by who know who (not speaking about this E55 in particular)...it could be dangerous.

Hey, I met the guy who owns the C55! He was at Apex when I was there in June and I was waiting on the track to re-open so I could go out in my rental. He was trying to figure out what to buy and was super interested in a Corvette. Small world!
Very good lap! Against its newer american competitors its done well! About 20sec ahead of the mustang and 20sec behind the CTS-V in similar conditions and with much less equipped suspension! No overheating either, good show.
Damn at 05:28 you can really see Misha’s experience on the track. He fully doubted the motorcyclist when he was heading to the curb, even before he was potentially hitting them. It sure looked like he was going straight for them. Just fun to see your reaction which shows a lot of knowledge and experience! ✌🏼🙏

C55 Did the same Nurburgring time as the E46 M3… but everyone who test drives it in RUclips with a lot of subscribers says its typical AMG that can’t handle which couldn’t be further from the truth

C55 AMG has CLK front end, I remember that from one of the older Misha video when he visit a workshop that work on his diesel Golf. The wagon is awesome, a good combination of practicality & performance!

I think this kind of car deserves a highly progressive suspension so that it's comfy to drive as a daily but it's strong enough to keep the suspension from bottoming out. And super high quality adjustable dampeners to make it go nicely with progressive springs.

All id recommend is newer coils or springs alongside bilstein shocks. New bushings and arms and itll eat the twisties no worries!

depends on what is your standard, those weigh about 1850kg for the sedan and 1950 for the wagon.

AshCon in the UK makes an aftermarket computer that will make it shift really fast.

It drives better than a C63. Better turn in and handling. 370hp you can actually use all the power on the road
