Could any professional get a better endorsement than Dr. Hacker got from Mia Hamm! Classy! Mia must be so proud of where US Women's Soccer is today, in no small part thanks to her and her teammates. Every single player who makes her living playing soccer, without having to have other part-time jobs, should be thankful to them. Thank you Mia! Thank you Michelle Akers! Tiffany Milbrett! Briana Scurry! Lilly! The list goes on and on...
As good of teams we've had since, it was Hamm, Foudy, Lilly, and Overbeck that paved the way for our future dominance. The pivotal apex of that groundwork being the '99 WC win on our home soil with a record crowd (holds to this day) for any women's tourney ever. 90k in the stands and millions watched on national television as Chastain sealed the penalty victory and subsequent iconic sports bra celebration that ignited interest for soccer in many young girls around the nation. It's effect was akin to Tiger's influence on future golfers and the growth of that industry. Remember, the USWNT's victory in the inaugural World Cup of 1991 saw a champion team come home to almost zero fanfare and was largely ignored by the media with their funding being in jeopardy of running out. Unheard of for a WC winner today. From humble beginnings with a bunch of unheard of teens in the 80s to a dynastic legacy as one of the most internationally successful organizations in any sport with world renown superstars and enough funding to be ultra competitive for decades to come.
The stories of these amazing athletes and what they have to overcome and struggle with really inspires me to keep trying in my equestrian sport to improve at my age of 75! Thank you!
Why don't they do this with the national team now? I think they could really benefit. Maybe they would remember it's not about the "me" it's about the "we". Though, the culture of the sport has let them down in a huge way.

WOOOW
Mia Hamm = PELÉ, Marta = MESSI
True because despite their greatness neither Marta or Messi have any world championships.
@@nottoomuch87 So not true today?
@FuturePast2019 Not for Messi. Unfortunately, Marta retired without ever winning, and I hate that for her.
I came early! 😂
