Done a few of these with my friends. Somehow everyone is better vs their friends than they are vs randoms in matchmaking. This beats the crap out of the old way of one person hosting, or trying to get everyone into a faceit hub
I get what you're saying but I don't think there would be drops, cases, as it were at the end of the match. We would just take over a casual servers and have fun there and that way we would all be eligible to get "something" from the server.
I think private matchmaking would be cool but I don't have enough friends to play it. The last game I played in competitive I had 3 teammates who could not stop yelling slurs at me and I felt like that was probably enough of that for the week
Private matchmaking is a specific tab on the far left of the play menu. You create a code and have your friends enter it into their private matchmaking page. Everyone joins the q and it will pop as if it were a normal match.

We have been asking for 10 man private q's since 2015, that would have been the dream then.
you could just open 5v5 with bots in a lobby with your friends

You should get your friends into cs, its what I did and now we all play together, hell some even are better than me now!
