Wise man. Renting scooter. Security is worth more than saving $, especially after the 50 yr. mark. Phone call away for rescue. Who wants to deal with maintenance. Plus, you go out of town or have no need for bike for a few days you don't have to concern yourself with the burden of a possession. They can own you. $50.00 well spent!!! Good video, informative. Thanx.
Great video. I like the mapping. We left Da Nang at the end of June, 2020 and returned to Mexico, where we are permanent residents. We spent 9 months in the city and loved it there but when Covid hit, it began to cost us a lot for visa extensions on a monthly basis and most of the people we met headed "home", wherever that was. We are planning on returning as soon as the borders re open. We are fully vaccinated and hope to rent another place in the An Thuong district and use it as a base for our continued travels through Asia. Your video brought back some good memories. I love Vietnam.
Hey Chuck, this is an excellent video. So much so that I can see I'll have to check it out a few more times. A lot to digest. I can see that you put the time & thought into it. 👍🇻🇳

Hi Chuck, really enjoyed this video! It's packed full of great information. We're hoping to spend the winter in Danang this year, as long as travel is open. In the meantime, I'll just continue watching your videos and impatiently waiting to return...
Thanks Chuck for the very informative video. I was in DN but I was there in the 70's so it's no doubt after ~50 years lot of things have been changed. Hope be back one day! Have a good time in DN-VN
Hi. If you approached a pharmacist here with a list of the meds you need, she will find what you are asking for, offer a same same substitute, or locate it in another pharmacy location. PSP is the big pharmacy chain (there are a few), and they will look in the computer and check inventory in other stores.
there are many golf courses here. one is called Montgomerie Links.. let me check google. i rode past this on my motorbike recently. yes. for initial research purposes, if you have a laptop, download and install Google Earth pro, and zoom in south of Danang and you can see all the golf courses. I haven't golfed here so I kind of approach everything from a map. I spend a lot of time looking at maps. or just google golf in Danang.
Will be moving to Dà Nẵng from Tokyo in December. I like just staring at maps, so this video was awesome for me. I've been with my SO before, so not all of the info was new -- however there were some nice nuggets in here. I was set in my ways that I was going to buy a bike once I got there, but I am now really intrigued in the bike rental service you spoke about. Not terribly crazy about the price -- although not having to worry about servicing a bike, etc. sounds amazing. How was getting a bike license in Dà Nẵng? Or did you just stick to 50cc bikes? Thanks!
What a great and informative video! I have been thinking about moving to Vietnam or at the very least visiting once the border is open. Do you have any idea when Vietnam will open it’s borders for tourism? As soon as they do I’ll be on the first flight!
Very good stuff Chuck, thanks. I'm planning on moving there in the next year. How's the CV19 situation? I don't mean the virus itself, I don't care about that, but the regulations and stuff.....
Hi Filip. We are locked down hard right now. Restaurants can deliver and grocery stores, gas stations, medical facilities, and pharmacies are open... This just started and they said we will do it for 21 days and see where we are... And the Viets don't screw around with this stuff. I feel safe here.
Hey Chuck, enjoyed your video. Thanks for the effort. Have been to Vietnam many times . Never worried about bike license before. Just wondering how hard , how long and how much trouble it is to get one. Hope to get back there with my wife as soon as we can. Cheers.
Hello Chuck! I'm a new subscriber and I am planning on retiring in Da Nang as soon as it is open again. My mai concern is that I haven't seen many videos by we senior citizens, or many senior citizens in the video vlogs. What can you tell me about being a senior citizen ex-pat in Da Nang? And this info video is one of the best I've seen.
Hey! You are the first person to ask. We call it "millionaire's island" because it's covered with modern single family mansions... beautiful designs... there is an architecture school here.
Hello MP. I walked here for two months before I really needed to expand my world so I rented a motorbike. There are Grab cars and motorbike taxis all over the place. Grab is like Uber. You call the ride up through an app on your phone. Get some Uber experience on your phone, and Grab will be second nature. So you will want to find an apartment near Pham Van Dong road which is the main drag between Vincom mall and the beach. The peninsula is about 1.2 miles wide there between the mall and the beach... I can walk it fairly easily... covered up with my sun hat.
My best friend and brother married a lady from Tam Ky which is just south of Da Nang and Hoi An. One day she made us fried frog skin for a snack... it was awesome! You have to be a culinary adventurer to truly enjoy this country.
Just arrived in Da Nang yesterday and was fortunate to meet Chuck at my new fav cafe in An Thuong. This video is very valuable. Thank you 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! This has got to be one of the most useful videos I seen on DaNang. I seriously thinking about moving there when things straighten out. Thank You!
My Pleasure. Welcome to DaNang when you finally get here!
JD which channel?
Great video Chuck, very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it
Only an engineer or city planner or c level executive would make this detailed of a plan for both expats and tourists. I have to give this a 6/5
Great video Chuck

we are currently doing monthly extensions to our old visas. the borders are closed so no visas are being issued,
