I was born the year this came out and yet I never watched it until this year. And that’s only because I’m going to be in a production of it. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the first one at least (some real banger songs on that soundtrack), and the second and third films do at least have enough going for them that I’m glad I watched them. You kind of have to just go with them. It feels wrong to evaluate them the same way one evaluates even Grease. Either you’re on their wave length or you’re not. And I was. Edit: what makes it better is that it’s not even actually Zac Efron singing in the original. He does in the others but in the original it wasn’t written for his vocal range.
