  • In this video bass player, HC Röder is demonstrating the BP1 Bass Preamp from Caveman Audio.
What would you use in the studio to get the best possible bass sound?
First: A great-sounding preamp. Second: Parallel compression. Third: EQ.
This is exactly what BAS1 gives you! It simply represents the peak of our skills and efforts. And the result is, without doubt, the finest Bass Preamp that we could have ever imagined crafting.
It is designed to run directly to a FOH console or the mixing desk in the studio via a transformer-balanced DI We even added a transformer-balanced AMP OUT to feed your amplifier/monitor on the stage.
BAS1 is a tone monster that will make every note you play stand out clearly and with the character and definition of a genuine tube amplifier.
BP1 crams the preamp and output stage from our BAS1 Bass Preamp System into a compact stomp box format with zero sonic compromises.
This is a no-brainer pedal with nothing but Gain and Level controls. Simply plug your bass into BP1, trim the Gain and Level to fit your taste, and experience the mind-blowing tone this unit has to offer.
We added a switchable audio loop in case you use additional stomp boxes or other external equipment to make sure the sound of BP1 is never compromised.
The Radio/Wireless input and all outputs use custom-made audio transformers. In general, only the finest components are selected for use in this stellar preamp design.

Wow this preamp sounds amazing! Think I am about to pull the trigger on one. Can you tell me, is the preamp the last element in your signal chain before you run into your interface in this video? So was the filter, and fuzz and overdrive coming before the BP1 in this example and then running through the XLR DI out into the interface? Or were the additional effects running through the effects loop? Thanks!

Hi Randy, Yes the preamp is the last element in the signal chain. All the effects pedals are in an EFX Loop going into the BP1.
the chain is: Instrument input - buffer - Loop - preamp - output

What did you use for the overdrive sound? Was that from the preamp?

I came on here with the same question. That is one of the best overdrive tones I’ve heard. Extremely usable!!!
