I just watched a video yesterday where someone build your actual house on sims 4. You should download it of the gallery and let them move together in that house. It would be so cool!!
To prevent the food going off, click on it and select the 'Put Away' option, that means that when you next go for food, you can just click on the fridge and select the 'Open' option and eat it without it going off :)

I know Zoe's house i better looking inside but i think they should movie into Alfie's because they might get married soon and have a kid and in Alfie's house you can easily make another room because his is a lot bigger i've lived in that house before and did it and here is a tip in build mode there are a lot of options you can do at the top of the screen like a copy tool a tool that changes the color of things and yeah try it sometime i vote Alfie's :)
