Every time I hear a piece done by David, I am just blown away. He, to me, is one of the most musical people I have ever heard. His playing is outstanding and his arrangement are just unbelievable. Everything he does, is done in taste. All his lines are clean. He cherry picks what he is going to insert into the music. That is one of the things I love about David. No pi@@@@@ contest to prove his speed. No worthless and redundant blues riffs that you will hear some of the so called jazz greats use over and over. Just pure taste and class. always interesting, and always pushing the boundaries of what can be done, both rhythmically as well as harmonically. He just has a beautiful mind for music. Like him or not, if you know anything about music, you know, he is simply one of the all time greats,

Dave has been wonderful over the past 50 years and I'm a fan. But he's only the arranger here...Henry Mancini is the real 1950s-60s genius who wrote the melodies we all know.

You won't find one, and this is one makes Grusin so special. Have you ever heard his arrangement and playing of Yesterday by the Beatles? Dave is a genius, and so is Mancini. But Dave has cranked out more soundtracks and jazz tunes to fill my library, that is for sure.
