There goes my baby’s olympic dream. Alena’s my favourite girl out of the group, she has such an interesting personality on and off ice. No matter she decides to continue for coming seasons or to take a break, I’ll be happy for her decision. Now just let me suffer through this kostodepression :’(
She's my fave too, but injury aside, she needs to get mentally stronger. It's the only thing holding her back imho. That move away and back to Eteri has her messed-up. JMO.
She's the most naturally talented out of them all, quads or not. That's why she scored so high, even without quads. Valieva has way more natural ability than Sherbakova in my opinion too (not that I dislike AS at all. Just talking natural ability).
I think she might keep going, and Eteri has a point to prove that she can give her skaters a longer career. Maybe she'll use her for that? Let's hope. It would be too sad to see all that talent go to waste!

I reaaaaaaaaally would love to believe, but it us customary with russian skaters to say they plan to keep skating competitively, but more often that not, they say it to keep themselves relevant with their federation. I trully hope it is not the case for Kosto, but even if she were staying, I don't see her training in Eteri's group (which would be good tbh).

Liza deserves to go, I think she has great political clout with mishin and actually international judges backing her. Trusova isn’t going (given that valieva is basically trusova just better). Her fans will hate it but it just shows how even though she was the top at 14, it isn’t sustainable

@@ricardoenzpz8859 there is a well known 'eteri expiration date' (eteri being her coach) which basically means her skaters retire at age 17-18 as shown by her previous students- lipnitskaya: 2013-2015, Medvedeva: 2015-2018, zagitova: 2018-2019 who were stars for a season or two just like alyona in 2019-2020. They're jump technique as taught by eteri only works for young 15-16 yro and fails once their bodies mature. Kosto is now 18 and her technique has been failing- she cant jump triple axels like she used to. This is the first reason she most likely wont continue. Her body just physically cant take it anymore. Zhenya for example can't turn her back to the left anymore due to fs (she's just turned 22). The second reason being her mental state. As seen by the many stars who came before her, sambo 70 (her skating club) has no shortage of fresh new talent that can jump with the 'eteri technique '-kamila valieva (06 liner), sofia akatyeva (07 liner). She is at the bottom of the pyramid and i doubt she'll have the mental strength to compete (and lose) with younger girls. She's also known to be a diva (not in a bad way imo but she's like my ult bias so..) She has frequent quarrels with her coaches and i doubt she'll want to stay with them. Like i cant imagine itll feel good to have your coaches hate you (gleich im looking at you)

Here’s my guess of the Olympic spots:
1. Valieva (obviously)
2. Trusova (if she fully recovers)
3. Anna Shcherbakova (since anna always pulls through)
(Although the empress might surprise me)
Don't think Sasha is consistent enough or healed enough to beat Eliza...
I think Trusova chances of being fully recovered are slim to none

Kostornaia is one skater I was always rooting for and probably will continue for as long as she chooses to compete and skate
Objectively, it’s true, there is only a small chance of seeing her competing in the future
However, she is a wild card and I believe she will prosper in any field she chooses

Mishin’s team have terrible choreography (unless if Averbukh or Morozov step in). she wouldn’t benefit.
@@beckyy584 his skaters actually have choreography built into the program. However they would take it out in order to land the jumps consistently. It all depends on the skaters, like Kolyada he still keeps most of his choreography. But on the other side of the coin Liza does not. IMO because her SS is not that good to carry transitions.
@@yohanes2034 that’s what I’m worried about, he doesn’t prioritize choreography. Kolyada keeps his choreography but his FS and SP have similar if not the same step sequences 🤢
@@beckyy584 yes, it seems that Mishin does not prioritize steps and choreography though. His stsq is so jarring because it is hust the same stsq with different accent.
@@yohanes2034 yes but that's with skaters not known for their artistry and there's no star name (Gulyakova/Samodurova) to request for a famous choreographer for besides Tuktik (getting shae lynn). Remember Carolina Kostner was once coached by Mishin. Aliona can maybe get the resources she needs through there and the mental stability.

About a month ago, my brother had a dream that Kosto wrote a tell-all book about her time at Team Tutberidze called “₵ost-ornaia” (yep, that's how it was stylized in his dream). I'm getting more and more convinced that it's actually going to happen and that he's clairvoyant lol

You have to understand that this is the girl that left Eteri boldly and did whatever she needed to go back. She is stubborn and has audacity and even called out her haters right in her post. She may be around 4 more years. Regardless, she will do something brilliantly. She’s not gone. I find it curious how she still gets lots of love from Yana even with Trusova apparently being the focus while at Angels. Also, Eteri seems to love her and there have to be reasons why. I never care what Daniil has to say.
I agree, her wrist may have broken but nothing can break her 🔥🙃 maybe the injury was actually in her favor and is going to lead her to a more fulfilling path. Like Zhenya describes winning silver as her blessing and now she is much happier
I know kosto said she will stay in the sport for another 4 years but if she continues with eteri i cant see her fulfilling that. i have a bad feeling she will keep breaking until her body cannot handle it. it makes me really sad, she is honestly my favorite of the eteri girls and i admire how bold and confident she is:(
I think Alena of all the Tut girls is very aware of the expiration date. In 2019, she literally said she'll retire after ONE Olympics.
I just hope Kostornaia gets to live her best life like Zhenya soon, but with less injuries and shit. Honestly, she's had enough as it is with sickness and coach changes and the lot FFS
I sadly have a feeling it was in the rink. When anna was injured she clearly stressed that her toe was broke /outside/ of training, and I imagine if kostornaia was also injured outside of training, tutberidze would ask for kostornaia to do the same (purely to maintain her own image as a coach)

Kostornaia just confirmed that it was during training, where she fell on her axel. Kostodepression is for sure now.

I think Liza T is still in danger of not getting an olympic spot. If trusova regains form and the use of her foot, the team will probably be Valieva, Scherbakova and Trusova.
I'm biased because Sasha is my absolute favorite (but Liza is top 3 for me), but I would be surprised if they send Liza instead of Sasha. I hate that it's probably going to come down to the two of them fighting for that third spot, I wish they could both go 😭

Seriously broken wrists are very common land the wrong way walking and you will break it - this is about the best injury to get - heals quickly and is NOT BECAUSE OF OVERTRAINING

It can be from overtraining if you're falling on it constantly trying the same jump!!
I got shin splints numerous times from jumping triples, for example. Goodness knows what stresses the girls are getting from 3A and quads!
Skates weren't as good in my day. Mine were like cast iron and had no padding except the tongue, plus they were much higher cut. At least modern skates are comfortable/cushioned where the stresses are.
I'd put my hand down constantly too, working jumps. Broke my thumb one time, putting my hand down. Thumb went into a spot-hole, hand slid away and bent my thumb backwards 😬. *Snap!*
What I'm trying to say is, you can easily get injured. Even during stupid things. We all know they over-train at Sambo 70......

I am very sadden by this latest news. As Kostornaya was always my favorite of the phenomenal Eteri Tutberidze, trio. Three A. Now it appears that she will also be denied the opportunity to compete in the most important competition of her figure skating career, the 2022 Olympics. It's heart breaking. As the field of the top tier Tutberidze camp is unfortunately marred by physical injuries.
Watching and listening to this is just so sad to me, to know how aliona went through all of that, ALL OF THAT, just to end up like this.
For me only Kamila is guarantee to the Olympics. I hope Aliona heals and gets Liza's spirit of fighting.

Ok- U can call Eteri ''evil'' if U want, i don't want to defend her, but i've heard a ''news'' that Alyona hurt herself out of training ( my Russian ''source'', a figure skating journalist and manager told me- i met him before Eteri's phenomena in figure skating, he helped me to find hotels following my King Plushy's skating career). He said that , even she hurt herself out of training, her Team is ready to take the risk and be accused by the fans ( mostly outside of Russia) who don't stand Eteri.

I think the worst thing about that is that Kostornaia is 18. She's a CHILD. Remember back when retiring seemed like a mid-20s kind of thing? It's now late teens and that's so horrible for these young skaters. If this was the men's people could be like "It's okay there's always next Olympics" cause she'd just be 22. But now, she missed these Olympics so ALL her Olympics dreams are crushed, considering the rate it's been at I feel like the 2026 Olympic champion will be what? 13? 14? And this is what? The fourth time we've seen an injured Eteri girl this season? Hell, Zhenya had to RETIRE because of a spine injury that she got because of her BAD TECHNIQUE. Why the goddamn hell is Eteri still allowed to coach. That's just how it is now, pump them out quickly and get the medals at the expense of pretty much the next 3/4 of their lives + their love for the sport.

She was the most stubborn among the Eteri girls. She always had an issue regarding training loads.
Can you blame her? Eteri’s camp is an extremely dangerous environment. She saw her best friends get hurt constantly there. She only came back for score inflation.
She had absolutely no chance to make the Olympic team before the season even started. She had a front row seat while Sasha, Anna and Kamila were learning quad after quad after quad. I love Aliona. She’s my favorite Russian skater but she doesn’t have the technical content (nor the consistency this year or last). Kamila and Anna are in. The 3rd spot will be between Liza and Sasha.
I heard that Eteri told her to beat Tuktamysheva or she had to be kicked out of the camp. They made her train too hard, and that's the result.

this is a lie. eteri only gave her an ultimatum when getting back a triple axel. eteri is a lot of things but I HIGHLY doubt she would say beat her or be off the team. training too hard would result in a leg injury not a hand injury. apparently aliona was riding some guys motorbike knowing that she wasn't suppose to and fell off and broke her hand

Even if it didn't happen while training, we can't forget about the bone density issues these kids seem to have. Whether it's puberty blockers or anorexia there is probably something up. As for her commercial career, I could see her possibly being the most successful. I'm not sure about russian beauty standards specifically but she could be considered the most attractive. She also might be the most fun to watch artistically. So I think she will do well if she retires from sports.
100% she is just mesmerizing to watch. It's not just beauty that draws you in. She is charismatic and has the "it" factor that many beautiful (like face beautiful) skaters are lacking.
If she wants to continue for another 4 years, she should leave Eteri because: 1. Her training method is not for adult skaters, 2. Eteri would not pay too much attention because she has juniors lining up. For skaters past 18 y.o you have to be careful with overtraining (plus if you have past injuries). Rather than repeat until you get it, they would need more off ice session, analysis etc to figure out why it didn't work.

I agree. Her dream is to become a neurosurgeon though, she has stated it in several videos. Her future is definitely bright.
Regarding the puberty blockers; I've just recently read how the thyroid medication leads to reduced bone density. And since those drugs are legal in Russia, it might be a real possibility they take them. Especially due to the pressure in the Eteri camp.
@@anayarey I wish they would test for all hormone blockers. It's clear it's giving the girls an unfair advantage. And it is so bad for them. I'm so happy she will be a doctor one day. Maybe she will write a tell all of the abuses including medical some day.
Puberty blockers and anorexia will give you amenorrhea, which in turn literally leads to osteoporosis. It's absolutely not surprising that the Eteri girls keep breaking apart right before our eyes.

It’s ridiculous nowadays how we talk about an 18 year old Russian girl not being able to go to an Olympics as if she will never have any other chance again. But that’s the reality we’re facing and it saddens me.
Let us pray that team tut’s expiration date doesn’t apply so she can go to 2026 Olympics. In fact, let us pray that someone eventually decide to do more so that these girls aren’t forced to ruin their career prematurely because we really need it now.
Don’t get me wrong, I am sad for her, but TBH I didn’t see her at the top of the pack considering the competition for 3 Olympic spots. Even with her superior artistic interpretation, Liza has a consistent triple axel which she has used to beat Aliona in the GP. Sasha may be injured? Maybe? But she has a quad lutz and likely then has a quad flip and no reason to see why she wouldn’t have a quad sal. Aliona needed that 3A. She required it.

The Women Figure Skating is in another level right now, the first spot will be with Kamilla Valieva (she will win Russian Nationals next week), second place will be with Anna Shcherbakova).
The both will be with Trusova on the Olympics, if one of them will get injured, the open sport will be filled with tuktamysheva. So, talking about kostornaia, medvedeva, zagitova or lipnitskaya, is talking about something that were great but is history, we love all of them, thanks all of them, but those 3 girls that I talked at the beginning will be present and the future, and in the season 2022/2023 Sofya Akatyeva will come as a hurricane.
I honestly hope they decide to coach and in a better and safe environment for younger women in Russia! They have SO much talent and are SO looked up to, that i know they'd be amazing coaches.

The only way I can see her not retiring would be with another coach, unfortunately she already experienced changing coaches and it was beyond bad. There is no way she can keep track with new Eteri girls, if I was her I would go to Mishin, he has kept Elizabeta complete for so many years, but another 4 years of work might be too overwhelming for her. I just keep thinking that going to Plushenko was the worst thing she could have done to her career
I think that returning to Eteri after Plush was her major mistake

HOWEVER, it will also give Kosto enough time to rest and get her 3A back (I personally don’t think that Sasha’s body will be able to withstand another year of Olympic training) - as well as Darya. As per Maiia she will also have another year to perfect her quads and get more PCS whilst Elizabetha will just be older. So I think anything can happen give Omicron… it’s too soon to tell rn

I feel like, they way you spoke in this video, you underestimate skaters.
I think, and like to believe, that Kostornaia will continue skating and competing after her hand recovers. So, I think you underestimate skaters because you fail to see that they do it for themselves and because they enjoy skating and competing - not because they aim to have an Olympic spot one day. Let's not forget Kostornaia is a European Champion and that there are more OG to come and many more other competitions. Just because this particular OG may not happen - let's not forget that she's 18 and that she could theoretically attend 2026 & 2030 OG and all of the WC, EC, GPFs etc. in the mean time. You gotta understand how much effort, work, time, patience go into this and that skaters don't lightly decide on retiring, especially not ONLY because they are unable to go to OG.
On the other hand, yes, I could also understand if she decides to retire due to all the drama and obstacles that have been and may be again in her way. Another reason for retiring may be that she simply loses interest - which could be also influenced by just mentioned drama and problems; but also because people grow up and change.
So, here's to hoping for her bright (FS) future! 🥰🥳

I think for the Olympics the favorites are Valieva, then Sherbakova, and for 3rd place will fight Trusova and Liza. Don't even know who will get the 3-rd place because I have a feeling it'll be not only about their performances, but the Federation will get involved also. Maybe the russians will send Liza just to show to the world, that women have a chance to participate at the Olympics, and not only girls. It's politics

The tea about aliona breaking her arm is apparently she was breaking some rules and went on a boys motorcycle and broke it in a fall. which ya know could explain why there isn't a single get well post from any teammate or coach. I love aliona but she knew the risks, she knew this could potentially end up in an injury ending her chances for the 2021-2022 season. im just not understanding why she did it! Sasha was probably climbing up the walls trying to get back onto the ice and daria is probably so upset she can't skate right now.
Is there a rule to not ride motorbikes? Also I haven't seen any get well wishes with other girls. Or maybe it's to early idk. Anyways, why are you stating it like a fact? It looks like gossip to me
@@anayarey I obviously dont have the official handbook for team tut but most competitive sports teams have rules for stuff like this. when I danced I wasn't allowed to do any type of skating during the season. No electric bikes, scooters, carts. and im sure for something has dangerous as ice skating and at their caliber there is more strict rules. also im pretty sure it's from an inside source, thats why I said apparently because im not 100%. but if it was a practice injury im sure we wouldve known.

He told me the same ( that Alyona hurt herself out of training), but her Team is ready to take risk and be blamed by fans in Russia, and mostly outside of Russia
I think Medvedeva made a post regarding Kostornaia. Also, Anna and Maia liked Aliona's post regarding her injury and her will to continue another Olympic cycle.
I also do not think that Team Tutberidze would be willing to take any blame for the injury especially if it happened outside of training. With the successive injuries from the team - Anna, Sasha, and Daria's injury, the team had more or less negative reviews. Again, I do not think Eteri and Daniil would like to take any blame for Aliona's injury especially if it happened outside of training. They were all ready to jump the shot against Aliona especially Daniil. With a coach saying you are ungrateful, lazy, with attitude problems and all that shit, are you sure they will not speak ill about Kostornaia with the media? I don't think so.
Nonetheless, your tea may be or may not be true. If it's true, then Kostornaia really have to pay for the consequences. Kostornaia is no angel, she knows it, she is aware of it. In fact, all of us are not. Still, I wish her well and hope to see her grace on the ice again.
