Thanks for the nice words, John. Much appreciated. As far as professional help, my issues have all been prioritized and my amber aversion is way down on the list of priorities. Besides, insurance won’t cover the cure…yet.
I'm a big amber fan but have never tried any of these. Thanks for your suggestions! My favorite new amber is Ambre Supreme by Les Indemodables. They use a 10% dose of ambergris blended perfectly with some of my favorites notes: sage oil, pink pepper, cardamon, orange flower and and neroli. My next purchase in the line is Vanille Havane, which is a really divine dark vanilla. Perfect for someone who likes vanilla but not the sweet cloying kind.
may i add a few favourite and not-so-well-known ambres of my own?... "Persepolis" by Arshia (starts-out with an herbaceous whisper, then quickly into an only mildly-sweet vanilla and rich ambre, shadowed with sandalwood and agarwood) - "Oud & Ambre" by Cartier (the oddest ambre i own - beautifully blended with a hauntingly curious note that i cannot identify - nothing groundbreaking, but classy) - and "Ambre Loup" by Rania J (a natural and mildly smoky but not barnyardy oud here, laden with a deconstructed ambre base - rich with spices, lovely vanilla, and balsams - deeply captivating). thanks, Galen.

Great list! I have enjoyed a couple of the Ellie Saab Essence line but they're hard to track down as samples/decants. I've also enjoyed the Carner Barcelona scents I've tried, so I'll add this one to my list to check out.

absolute bonkers description for chemical love
I figured it for a gimmick when I read the description in store, but when I smelled it for myself--WHOA. Insane.
I've come to really like Essence No 3. To me, it has a very subtle growl that many other basic ambers don't have. Definitely want to try Chemical Love and the Krizia. Thanks, Galen.

I love my vintage bottle of Teatro alla Scala, and remember applying it too liberally once before attending Symphony 😳. I was in heaven, but I’m not so sure about those seated nearby.

Thanks for sharing! I've a handful of amber frags in my collection that I've not worn in yrs, no joke! If I had to pick one it would be * OPUS 6 by Amouage. From what I've heard, it's been reformulated and not what is once was (More smokey) than current offering, but said to still great.
I've been in this game since 2013 Galen & I just retired from passionately collecting, with my last bottle purchase of * NAJAF by Xerjoff arriving this, past Tuesday on my doorsteps. Chemical love sounds like a winner, making me want to comeback. Hahaha!

Opus VI, a lost legend! I picked up VII, but…just wasn’t gonna be able to chase all of them. And yes, probably just as well you’ve taken a pause. There’s always something new and exciting to spend money on…but constant stimulation gets old quickly. But if Chemical Love piqued your interest, no shame in snagging a sample!
Tom Ford Amber Absolute, Classy and Masculine in a scholar type of way. D. G. and Durga Amber Kiso is like Gucci Guilty Absolute Absolute but on steroids. Kind of like a gasoline station explosion (your description) engulfing a leather tannery. To really enjoy it don't do more than 2 sprays or it becomes too loud and dominant to my taste. Lasts about11 hours and overnight on clothes.

@@theaetherealist HA! I completely forgot when I wrote this that "amhole" is actually a term that's been used up here to refer to people who work at Amazon. When they moved into the South Lake Union neighborhood, activist pranksters put up flyers everywhere that said "you might be an amhole if...." I wish I could remember the list of traits that followed!
