Remember this all started because hsr was giving away a free 5 star which started a "genshin could never movement and L+Ratio".
What set them on fire was the 4.4 livestream.
What made them realize that they were on fire was that they announced that they were getting 3 pulls.

It does not, even with A WEEK/Months of free time I wouldnt trade my sanity to go around finding everything.
More often than not that's not the case,only 2 areas have reached that bar with the first 2 sumeru expansions,the rest are below 3k usually,20 pulls is equivalent to 3600 jades

I COMPLETLY AGREE WITH YOU, i was like holy shit i def took rogue killer for granted, because frankly as you said this guy isn't bad, but i feel like it's over the top every time and lasts for way to long, whereas roque feels like he perfected the .EXE like it feels like each bit just lasts just the right amount of time. Honestly as long as this new guy doesn't give up, I think they can get better and grow as a creator i wish them nothing but the best.

As long as Cao Haoyu still have authority in genshin. Genshin can't be generous, this happens on early Honkai Impact 3rd
Hopefully releases like Wuthering Waves and Endfield can give the ones in charge a bit of a kick. Genshin still has a lot of potential if they weren't so stingy about stuff. As for me, I'm just going to get enough for Furina and then just do dailies/events and some mat grinding if I'm bored and switch over mostly to HSR.
Genshin could use a bit of competition in its niche. HSR is great but it is still a turn-based game, so WW and Endfield are the best bets on being counters.

@@Andrew99994 Yeah, part of me is worried about that quite a lot. But I hope they wisen up. Despite all the stuff, I still love the setting, characters, and even gameplay. I'll still play Genshin since I've been mostly f2p (barring the occasional Welkin) but it still kind of makes me sad to know that Genshin will just remain a 'good game' instead of the GREAT game I know it can be.

I quit genshin like 2 weeks before ratio was announced and now as a hsr player, im now watching all of it unfold from far FAR away.

and the 2.0 live stream (with a 4* selector a PENECONY MUSIC VIDEO and 20 free pulls) was the biggest smack in the face for the genshin players ive ever seen. And its gonna leave a mark for sure.
Genshin is not a shit game (i guess) but its terrible with its community, and the community is terrible with the devs.
I've done the same but I've been quiet quitting genshin for the past year tbh. After Alhaitham, I stopped playing and only got back for the 4.0 updates. I wasn't playing hsr for the sake of space but no way am I missing a FREE character (especially a pretty good one). It's sad seeing this happen now when the signs were there the whole time. Even with the BS they did with Dehya, people were trying to make her playable when they made her like that. That was proof that if we accept that, we accept anything.

Started to play genshin right before Inazuma dropped. got softlocked on one of the Inazuma quests because my characters were shit and I couldn't go to neither my tea pot nor my friends for help (it was that one mf-ing balloon quest where you had to transport it in time without it dying)
Picked up HSR in around august. 10/10 literally impossible to softlock yourself on accident
Coz star rail ascension materials have conversion system even if say you lack loufu enemy drops you can just convert it from herta station enemies for the ratio of 2-1. Hell you can even convert boss materials for the same ratio. Very beginner friendly. Meanwhile if you got a character from fontaine or inazuma as an ar 10 player, you're just fucked

I remember when I was doing Inazuma MSQ when I got bottlenecked by that one part where you have to shoot targets to get into Gorou's militia, but the lightning kept hitting the bad targets and counting it as if I had hit them. Keep in mind that this quest is located in an area with nonstop thunderstorms.

Amidst all this controversy, I have been seeing ads for Genshin with content creators/streamers talking about the last few QoL changes they made. Which I didn't see before this started happening.
Idk if it was just a massive coincidence or what. I watch Genshin videos pretty often, so it's weird that I'm just now getting ads these last few days.

Do you ever notice how every time Honkai Star Rail announces their free 10 pull it always comes with a phrase like "and like always" or "and of course"?
Hoyoverse knows exactly what they are doing creating this animosity towards Genshin because there is literally no reason Honkai Star Rail gets free 10 pulls every patch and Genshin doesn't besides "just because".
It's because of different teams. One is way more stingy than the other and most of us knew about it but kept giving excuses. This has always been a discourse and the true gacha players have been talking about the lack of rewards for the longest. It's sad it took this long.

The reason why Genshin looks like it didnt lose as many followers is cause of the bots. So you see how sad that is? Instead of giving free stuff for their loyalty. They paid to make it look like its not that bad.

Unpopular opinion: HoYo should just give us the rest of the mains story line in a form of a booklet since the plot is mostly the only thing that still appeals in Genshin. And then they can just close the game.
Unpopular opinion 2: HSR devs are not generous with these 10-20 pulls each patch since they release one "oooh what an OP character, you can't miss him!" after another. And most of the singature lightcones are sooo must have. Even 50 free pulls each patch won't save your wallet. In Genshin, on the other hand, you can skip for months if you have Zhongli, Kuki and some kind of dendro and hydro application. If you're not trying hard to clear the Abyss (why would you do that though?...).

Ok, so for people who are wondering why this is happening, it's simple, greed.
This is my take as to why Hoyoverse is doing this, I might be right, I might be wrong, so here I go.
Genshin is a very costly game to produce, it's got a lot of phases to go through to get the final product that we enjoy. This game is based on real life cultures, nations and so on, so you'd have to get people to travel to those countries and learn everything about them, from culture, to music, to behavior, to believes, to foods and beverage to music to how people dress and behave, history and so on and so on, this is a costly process, then you need to process all this information and start creating the nation in game, from the ambient, buildings, fauna, people and their clothes, food, customs and playable characters to even the lore, this is another hard and lenghty process, where you need people with actual knowledge of those nations, animators, musicians and so on and so on. Then they need to come up with the lore they're gonna give this region, possible new meta, like Dendro for Sumeru. Then you need people to test if the map is bugged, or has any flaws, the graphics. Then you get the release.
I may have missed some steps most likely, but you get the gist, this is a complex, lengthy and costly process. Unlike HSR, which is way smaller and its' main focus isn't the lore nor exploration nor at this point even combat which is nowhere near as complex as Genshin's, but the main attraction for HSR are the characters, they only need to come up with hot waifus or husbandos to attract people to the game, unlike Genshin in which people might look for exploration more, or combat or the lore. HSR is way most cost effective and takes less resources to produce, you're done with the lore in a couple of hours, same goes for ... "exploration", you get events that are time gated like Genshin, but even after the new patch release, you're done quickly with the lore, and the little exploration and boom, what are you left with? The hot characters, even tho HSR is a mainstream game now, how comes they're not getting censored? Their waifus aren't getting nerfed, they need this to survive, to keep attracting people unlike Genshin which doesn't exactly need hot characters to attract and keep players. Hoyoverse knows this, they're trying their best to scale down Genshin's playerbase and force them to swap over to HSR and then once fewer people play Genshin, they'll get away with cutting down on the quality of the game and even if people quit, they'll have HSR's new massive playerbase to feed them, they want to greed, they want to spend less and get more, also HSR is having to fight other such similar genre games, massive ones like Fate GO so that's why they're giving away so much stuff, while Genshin, **at the moment** doesn't have any competition, but I presume once Wuthering Waves is released, they'll start sweating a bit and stop being greedy.

They know people will keep playing their game regardless. And lol?? Genshin literally thrives off its “hot” characters and needs them all the same. Perfect example is Dehya. They knew as long as they made her hot she could be literal garbage and people would throw their wallets at her and c6 her. Even though they knew she was being put on standard?? I think that was the moment genshin stopped taking its player base seriously, and so did I. There was absolutely no reason to pull and it could’ve make it an impact to take a stand and let them lose on that banner but no. Regardless of the fact everyone would eventually get her, people still gave in. It wasn’t even close to one of their worse selling banners is what’s crazy. But If she was ugly no one would’ve pulled.

This has been a pot that started boiling the second people knew HSR had a free 5* selector, but scoffed it off because it had a pretty hefty condition to unlock, then came the constant free pulls that came with every patch and the energy system update; that gave the base for the idea that HSR was better taken care of than Genshin, but then came Ratio, and like his stone pillar he nailed the debate's coffin and the answer was clear, this is straight bullying to Genshin from the team behind Star Rail.
I’d say just put the money you originally would in Genshin, into HI3rd or Star Rail instead. If everyone did that, the numbers for those games compared to Genshin itself would skyrocket, because the money that would have gone into Genshin is now in the other games, almost doubling the size difference between those numbers, as compared to just not spending in Genshin.
So if you want to spend money, just don’t spend it in Genshin. The other Hoyo games are fair game still. Since it’s based on different Hoyo game devs, the one running Genshin could end up in trouble, seeing the disparaging numbers.
Let’s face it. We can’t win in a battle of them making so little money that they’re forced to change. But we can support which game dev is actually doing well in their company, and hopefully change something there.

Nevertheless, Mihoyo didn‘t respond to this at all as if nothing happend. On big platform such bilibili *(chinese Version of RUclips), Chats under Genshin Post are strangely peaceful. They just don't fucking don't care and on top of that, most chinese people are in holiday mood during lunar new year time, thus it's very unlikely that they are gona do some change or even say something about it.
The only good thing in this event is that my friends who were whiteknighting genshin 24/7 last year, now see that giving out one 5star char isent that much for a multi-billion company.

Star Rail starter pull 8=10 pulls gives you a guaranteed 5 star standard character at you're 5th pull. Genshin will take you 50 reroll accounts for a one 5 star standard character.
