This is still the record yeah, I've been on really good paces lately (2:09 and under) that unfortunately either die or I get worse weapons that make the 5BC portion slower. A 4x Whip + 2x Shards is really hard to beat it seems

@@brandonday3561 Sorry, I didn't notice that the comments were randomly flagged as spam by youtube. I have approved them now. Odd builds are interesting, I've done quite a few on my stream, but I don't necessarily make videos for them, because editing videos isn't something I'm too used to at the moment. Also from my experience with other streams and videos, people don't do odd builds because they still play to win the game, so they miss out on a lot of cool combinations that may not be optimal, but fun to play with. One of my favorite Survival builds is Kill Rhythm with a slow weapon and a shield, which is not something a lot of people think of for the mutation, but it does count as alternating weapons, so your first swing after a parry will be really fast. On Brutality what you could do is pair the Nail with a second melee weapon, such as Spite Sword or the Katana, the animation overlap is really good and you basically have two attack patterns at the same time. Tactics has a lot of cool builds, but I personally enjoy the War Javelin as a main weapon a lot. You can use Wave of Denial and a turret as your skills, and the javelin can either be used with a shield or with a different supporting weapon like Boy's Axe or Throwing Knives.

I'm not a speedrunner, quite the opposite, and it paid off, I got lightning on a run that I did, for context I reset saves frequently because I can, and frost blast + lightning is broken, I flawlessed the concierge and timekeeper because of stunlock and wolftraps.
I mentioned nuclear throne already, but as the run progresses, I notice more and more similarities (I'm sure they are not unique to these two games. Also, I am not saying this disparagingly, I'm only making observations)
use your head and you'll go far...no literally, use your head. Throw it out and kill the small monsters or the ones with projectiles. It make the game much more doable.

Speedrunning is definitely harder, I'm confident enough to say I can win most Iron Mans (just winning 0-5 in one go) if there are no time limitations, but going fast adds a lot to the challenge
Can anybody tell my why i cant duo bind on my pc? when i try to put both weapons on the left click of the mouse, the right click switches to left... and vice versa.
It's not possible on current patches anymore outside of custom mode, but before 2.5 you just bound the same button to two actions in the controller/mouse and keyboard settings

What was that portier fight in the base run? Im now playin for roughly a week, and not even my first encounter with him was that bad. Right now im tryin a nohit baserun till the hand. So far im either playin needle with assasin perk, or fireballs(forgot the name)+throwing torch with fire perk. But right now id rather push my skill than going for 1bc. Someone who's familiar with the game, what's he looking at on the Symmetrical Whip drop at 28:10? I can math out a little what makes it a good weapon, but he reacts really quite fast considering. What makes it an instant "oh lord" versus the very similar DPS Symmetrical Lance?
I like both weapons, but since the whip is a lot better against Time Keeper (which is a much more difficult boss when fighting her melee), getting a 2x legendary drop is basically a guaranteed nohit, and a safe win, compared to a slower weapon that needs more brain usage. Which is also cool, but not the best choice in a speedrun. A legendary Ewhip is the best thing you can get on 2.3 for this category, no matter what the other item is
do u have any advise for the Hand of the King boss. i can get to him relatively consistent but he just kicks my ass the entire time. i have a decenbt grasp on Parrying but it's just not enough
My advise to you is to play him in practice mode. I am doing that right now and learning all his moves. The only one that really snags me now is the thrust and them earthquake move. When he throws the triple threat at you, dodge for the first one, jump for the second one and while in the air, dodge roll again, but roll behind him. Works quite well.

@@lilmario0 deal 100% damage (with that weapon only) and take 100% damage. I always pick them up tho cus they will make or break your run

I thought you could only parry with a shield equipped this whole time lmao. I never used shields or parry this whole time

Odd builds are interesting, I've done quite a few on my stream, but I don't necessarily make videos for them, because editing videos isn't something I'm too used to at the moment. They removed dual binding and such in an earlier patch this year, but that's for normal play (on PC). You can still do it in the custom mode, though.

This is my first time watching a Speedrun of this game and I'm so confused how he knows where stuff is like the scrolls.
Guesses based on personal experience, there are a few tilesets where i've had more chances of scroll spawns, so i am more attentive there

Getting to the point of it being trivial takes a long time though, for me it was about 850-900 hours and I'm at almost 1,100 now

It's a speedrunning trick where you have to press the shield and roll buttons almost at the same time.
