I also have arthritis in my thumbs. I was doing s lot of stitching on a denim jacket (I'm putting lace overlay on the back panels) and my thumbs were killing me the next day. They hurt the same place you pointed on your's. Also doing a lot of weeding in the flower gardens which has also aggravated them.
So far I've only stitched with DMC embroidery floss. The Appleton colors are beautiful. Maybe I should try working with different mediums of threads. Your new fabrics are beautiful.
90's in Ohio also. I've been trying to get my yard in a better shape before my daughter comes to visit on Monday. I'm having to work in short spurts because it is so hot. I like the heat, but not when I'm sweating and have dirt sticking to me. LOL I would rather be sitting on my swing sipping sweet tea.
So glad you popped on YT to let us know you are OK. I've been watching for a video from you all week.

Paula, sorry you’ve been hurting as well. It’s not fun.
I love having different threads to play with. Color, texture, etc.
Enjoy your daughter’s visit! Take it easy in this heat. It’s brutal.

Hi Martha. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having problems with your thumbs. I hope you can get back to stitching soon. I’m like you in that when I can’t craft I shop. I’ve been doing a lot of both the past 2 weeks. I’ll be doing haul videos when I get back home. I love the panel you got. I have a Jessie Chorley panel that I’ve had for a few years. I need to get it out and start stitching on it. I keep saving it until I get better at stitching. Silly me. Rest your hands and I’ll see you in the next video. ❤️🙂

      Thanks Linda. I appreciate it.
Get that panel out, take your time, have fun, and stop waiting. Practice makes perfect! 😊

So sorry your hand is acting up. I have a lifetime of arthritic episodes under my belt and I feel your pain. Rest, as you know, will go a long ways towards healing and I wish you a speedy return to stitching.

Thank you so much. Resting is so difficult when I have all these projects I want to work on. I’m sorry you’ve had to suffer with pain as well. ❤️

Sorry you haven't been able to stitch, but your time obviously hasn't been wasted. Lovely colours in those yarns, and you've picked up some great fabrics! We're like magpies aren't we, even though we know we have lots of fabric, something always catches our eye and we have to have it 😊Hopefully a little rest will help your hands, and you can soon get back to doing what you love.

Hi Martha! I was wondering where you had been lately.
Happy to 'see' you again. But oh, how I can relate to the arthritic thumbs . You've got to remember to stop ever so often, and stretch those hands. I hope you get better real soon. TFS 💕

It was good to see you today, lovely new colors of the Appleton Wool. I sure hope you get some relief for your thumb soon. As a person with arthritis and carpal tunnel in both hands for decades I know the pain can be unbearable. Somedays my fingers just go numb and I have to put my needle aside for awhile. A few years ago I started doing some finger exercises to help with flexibility and pain relief, it doesn't always help but sometimes it does. Take care and stay cool.

Thanks Deb. I’m sorry you have to go through the pain. It stinks!
I do stretch my hands (& other body parts for the same reason) all the time. I have flairs now and then but haven’t had thumb problems in years. 🙄

    Oh, so sorry Martha.
I know this issue myself. I have carpal tunnel issues in both wrists.
I sometimes have to pace myself to rest the hands.
Lately I have been looking at foods and had a hair sample taken where they tested me for 1200 foods and chemicals. It was eye opening to find what I regularly have that agitates me and creates inflammation. (Such as I don’t have dairy but I have almond milk. Turns out all almond products were high up in my red list- who’d have known it. Nuts are supposed to be healthy right? 😮)
Anyway, hopefully you can get back to some regular stitching soon!

    • @marthamanigross
      @marthamanigross  4 месяца назад +1

Whoa! How interesting about the foods Christina! I’m plant based but do have some processed food. I’d love to have that test done. My dr did a blood test to check inflammation 2 years ago, said it was normal 🙄. I’ve had arthritis since my 30’s. I generally don’t whine much but not being able to stitch is sending me over the edge!!! 🙁

@@marthamanigrossI completely understand those moments when the hands don’t work are frustrating and a bit sad.
Hopefully things right themselves for you.
And you can enjoy a good stitch sesh soon.
