The safety chains on the PTO shaft are suppose to be connected to shields so they do not spin with the shaft and the plastic grease fittings on the shaft need greased too, I realize that we all make mistakes and we are not perfect, but that is very funny how you hooked the chains together, lol
The old one is not even half worn out, wish I had it I'd have it looking new and in tip top shape in no time, but if I had your money I'd probably do what you have done. lol Good luck with the new one !
Hey man keep an eye out for a local gulf course that would do some bartering for a flex wing mower they are retiring, my mowing went from 3+ hours to 45 minutes using a 15ft flex wing used golf course mower.
I've had mine for 4 years now and I have had no major problems. I would replace the depth wheel snap pins with bolts, I did. The pins fall out a lot. I once thought a spline was going bad but it was the top nut was about 1/2 turn loose. I put lock nuts on the three pt. hitch bolts, they work loose sometimes. It is a good mower, should last you a long time.
I believe those bolts are supposed to slide, mine has a u-shape at the 3 point top link, and your's is fixed, so the slide is on the rear of the bars. Take Care,
I raised the guards up with 1/2 spacers and cut holes in the guards where you grease the spindles and use the compressor to clean out under the covers and it’s easy with them raised up 1/2 inch. The guards need to be kept on to help protect the belts and keep it on the spindles. Use only two pumps of grease or you will blow the seals on the bearings. Check the bottom of your spindles above the blades to see if there are grease points.

Happy mowing, i have to say that I am very happy with my Del Morino mower. With big beafy gearbox and a nice panel with all the grease-fittings nicely together on one spot.
There is a lot of flex in lower pins when you pick it up. That's where it's gonna fail. Those bolts on the back of the mower were supposed to be loose so i can follow the ground over humps.
There is no way those crimped square tubes that support the wheels are going to hold up for long. Crimps like that might be fine for a beach chair but I can see them bending quite easily on something like a 7-foot finish mower.
The lower pins move up and down to help it float across the ground too. My farther in-laws has one and his lower pins move lake that and the top link has 2 plates to hook the it to the 3point gram to help the float
EOSJOE, your not supposed to bash it into anything stumps large rocks your wifes car ect . they do fine if you have experience an not using it as a brush hog
love having the three point hitch and PTO on my tractor. just bought an old snowblower that connects to the PTO. it's got a 32" auger and it's the size of a door.

I've got an off brand 72" Sovema that was made in Italy for my b7300 kubota at 12hp at the PTO. It does great in light grass but it definitely needs a scalping wheel like yours has.
My grandpa always said if you buy something good and treat it right it should last a 100 years then turn into something that's good to eat. Lol 😆 I don't think I would want to eat a mower deck! Lol 😆😆😆
I have a woods mower with those crappy snap pins in the wheel shaft. They fell off so many times and the wheels fall off. Then you spend an hour looking for the wheel. Forget about finding the pin or the bushings. You’ll be buying new ones. I changed the pins to bolts with lock nuts but is now a pain in the ass to change the cutting height.
We use a 3 point sickle mower to do jobs like that. It's very fast. I'm all for putting a motor in front of it or behind it. Lol. There's not much need for all the backing up with the sickle mower. They aren't cheap though, that's the only downside. Lol. I'd make those spindels greaseable. Drill and tap a grease zert between the two bearings and take out both inner seals. We did that on our zero turn and haven't had a spindel bearing problem in a long time.
we got a flail mower for the ditchbanks and rough cut stuff where you don't need a finish mower and it takes it all down nice and a whole lot more durable. JD green used and it has lasted well

Those chains are meant to keep the PTO shield from turning. Hook them, on both ends of the shield, to a spot where they have enough slack for movement when the mower moves up and down. Some shields are meant to turn with the shaft, others are meant to stay stationary while the shaft turns inside. Once you get it hooked on the mower end, you shouldn't have to hook it again. The tractor end shouldn't take too long to hook either, as you can probably just hook it around the drawbar..
the point of the pto covers is so they COVER the pto - the pto cover should not spin with the pto. like deer said, just clip the chain onto a bit of the tractor and the other 1 onto the mower itself far easier and safer than ignoring them even on light equipment like this, love the vids from new zealand!
I like how the finish mowers cut, they make the areas pretty. Not to be critical, but I hope it last for a year.....probably will with 'tender loving care'. ....13
I'm willing to bet those rear bolts are meant to slide so as the deck and the tractor change elevation over hills and dips, the deck stays planted and doesn't lift off (think of it as a top-link float). Set your top link to the bottom hole on the tractor. It should be there for both finish and bush cutters. The lower hole is the 'max lift' hole, which is also where you put post hole diggers. Things like box blades use the upper holes so that as you lift, while not going as high, it tends to maintain a more 'level' position. Cutters you want max slack on the top link for terrain following / floating, so you need in max lift hole (bottom) on tractor to ensure you're not slamming the deck into the ground when you're doing other things or in transport. Some cutters even have another hole for the top link so when you're not cutting you can quickly change what hole the top link is in to get max lift out of the deck.
Chris go ahead and put bolts in place of those flip link pins .If you cut around any cedar trees they will swat those link pins out and loose your adjustment spacers.
Look into a quick attach for the tractor. Will save you some time and make it easier hooking up and not having to fight with the arms on the 3 pt. I always said I didn’t need one but after I broke down got pissed off and got one no tractor of mine will be without it.
Those 2 bolts in the slots should be left loose. This allows the deck to float up and down. My King Kutter has chains from the top link to the back of the deck so it can float. It also makes it much easier to hook up. Just pull the top to the center link.
Fishfind3000 you would be surprised how many mower decks on just normal riding mowers have then on the bottom, You either have to raise the front of the mower up or remove the mower to get to them.

Maybe put some of that grass into hay to save you some time. I'm a little skeptical of the 2 3/8 bolts holding those wheel braces to the deck. (as I typed that you mentioned to too; I agree).
I don't use the top link on mine, we run a chain there instead of the bar. That way the mower can flex front to rear when mowing any difference in grade without mowing dirt. The top link will not let the mower float, chain will
loosen the bolts on the rear slotted arms they should have locking nuts on them. set mower at cutting height on the ground. then adjust top link to a neutral position. this will allow mower to float with contours of the ground and not bend those two long slotted arms. same principle as using chains from hitch to the rear on mower/rotary cutter. use your three point to carry attachment to work the area. it does not have to look level when transporting. it does need to be able to float when cutting so it last longer.

Nice looking mower, I agree with your theory, why do it by hand if you can do quicker and easier with a piece of equipment behind a tractor. One thing I’ve got that works really well is the 3-Point Quick Change Hitch. It has a spreader bar to adjust the width of the lower links and you just back up and lift the lower links and it latches on to the implement pins. Only thing left is the top link and that’s easy. I see lots of comments about sheep or cows. I have sheep and still have to mow the stuff they won’t eat. If I don’t, those plants out compete the plants they do eat. But yea, I do get meat. Also fencing creates a new mowing problem.

Those lower links of the 3pt hitch look really weak and wobbly to me. Those mounting holes will be wallowed out quickly. You pointed out your concern on the wheel assembly attachment only have two bolts per side; I noticed your old mower had 4 bolts per side where it attached to the decking. Greasable guide wheels but no greasable spindles? That just makes me scratch my head.
I always take the chains off the PTO guards and let the guards spin with the shaft, ALTHOUGH I know it’s not the correct way to do it. I’d rather see the guards spin, so that way I’ll know not to get too close.
Chris, I have one of those "Estate" FM-7 mowers. It will nickel and dime you till you put it out of its misery. Agri Supply sells a very good Caroni 7 foot finish mower with 5 blades for not much more money. GET IT, and return that one. In less than a year, you will be glad you did. BTW, it's orange so you can color coordinate with that thing you call a tractor. LOL

I mow 10 acres with mine plus side jobs and the FM-7 Estate mower didn't last 2 months and it left bad streaks of uncut grass between the blades if it was more than 6 inches high. I'm not kidding Chris, its junk compared to the Caroni, plus I could run a gear higher with the Caroni.
Chris, really enjoy watching your handling everything you operate. You'd be a great trainer. People nowadays don't respect the equipment they use in there workplace. Smash, Crash and Bash, seems to be the norm. I'd like to suggest you check out a skid steer "Quick Hitch 3 Point Adapter" I use for all my implements on my acreage. I got my unit out of Bellingham WA. and they even shipped it free to me in Canada. I don't have a back to be twisted looking out the rear of my tractors, so now everything sits in front of me. This unit works fantastic with my flail mower, rototiller and bush hog. You just need to figure if your unit is low or high flow. I ran a 15' batwing finish mower no problem with a 55hp John Deere. That's what I would go for.

I m a greasing nut too! I spray ungreable joints with silicone or WD-40.

By the looks of the top-link attachment point on the new mower, it is not quick hitch compatible.
Those 2 bolts in the slots should be left loose. This allows the deck to float up and down. My King Kutter has chains from the top link to the back of the deck so it can float. It also makes it much easier to hook up. Just pull the top to the center link.
I can see a weakness where at the curve of the bars that hold the wheels, other than that it looks OK, not a bad fit and finish. Thanks for the video.

I took my safety shrouds off my lawn mower since they made cleaning and servicing much harder.
On Dads mower spindles grease from bottom kinda a pain but I'd check it out P.S. don't smash your toes

If you use a chain for a top link it won't brake any thing go through a ditch.
Just get yourself a Ventrac 4500!!! front mowing is the only way to go!

Man, that's a lot of time spent mowing. I would never do that much, one afternoon of fencing and you could feed some livestock all summer.
I always take the chains off the PTO guards and let the guards spin with the shaft, ALTHOUGH I know it’s not the correct way to do it. I’d rather see the guards spin, so that way I’ll know not to get too close.
Chris, I have one of those "Estate" FM-7 mowers. It will nickel and dime you till you put it out of its misery. Agri Supply sells a very good Caroni 7 foot finish mower with 5 blades for not much more money. GET IT, and return that one. In less than a year, you will be glad you did. BTW, it's orange so you can color coordinate with that thing you call a tractor. LOL

I mow 10 acres with mine plus side jobs and the FM-7 Estate mower didn't last 2 months and it left bad streaks of uncut grass between the blades if it was more than 6 inches high. I'm not kidding Chris, its junk compared to the Caroni, plus I could run a gear higher with the Caroni.

Most mowers have sealed bearing, adding a fitting and greasing would not be any benefit
Chris, really enjoy watching your handling everything you operate. You'd be a great trainer. People nowadays don't respect the equipment they use in there workplace. Smash, Crash and Bash, seems to be the norm. I'd like to suggest you check out a skid steer "Quick Hitch 3 Point Adapter" I use for all my implements on my acreage. I got my unit out of Bellingham WA. and they even shipped it free to me in Canada. I don't have a back to be twisted looking out the rear of my tractors, so now everything sits in front of me. This unit works fantastic with my flail mower, rototiller and bush hog. You just need to figure if your unit is low or high flow.
