Yes, the SS Rotterdam is a fully functional hotel alright :) In ye olde days, the ferry was serviced by the Dutch national rail but since 2020, it's serviced by a metro now. You should be able to use you normal OV card though.

Y’all are amazing, I would be so stressed with trying to figure out those trains. I can’t wait to see England again, we were stationed at Lakenheath Air Force base when I was 10 years old back in the early 80’s, so I bet it looks like a totally different country now. It’s so sad about the queen but she lived a very long life and she was loved and respected by so many people all over the world ❤️

If you visit NL again, you should treat yourselves to a visit to the Efteling theme park/resort... It's Disney-like but ... different (like, there's snow white, sleeping beauty & little red riding hood (among others) in the fairytale forest but it's Grimm 😉not Disneyfied and probably some stories not well known outside of Europe) except for the Python rollercoaster everything is themed
The park celebrated it's 70th anniversary and is currently building a new ghost attraction based on the now defunct Spookslot (being torn down ATM after 44 years it was worn down and a safety hazard) and a new hotel at the entrance both should be ready somewhere in 2024
This park often gets describes by foreigners as whimsical for lack of better words, the fairytale forest is what kickstarted the park (was a shoe exhibition first, then became a (Catholic) sports park then later transitioned into a theme park based on fairytales and sagas (mostly based on bros. Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen, but with a few own tales/sagas made over the years)
you can find a lot of historical stuff online (there's also a museum in the park near the Anton Pieck plein (Anton Pieck square) showcasing old rides, concept arts and props that have been replaced at some time)
The price is pretty steep, but it is worth it, I promise...
And you'll love Aquanura, the Bellagio style fountain "next to" the entrance/exit...At least... I think, you'll love it... Their site has an English part if you want to know more
PS. make sure you have you walking shoes on as you'll have to walk a lot and if you don't have the map or digital app (shows waiting times too) you might just get lost in this park (it has the title of Nature park, which means they can only use 11% of the land to build on, so... lots off trees obscuring views of landmarks around the park)
Also if you want an overview of the park and surroundings I suggest you would visit the Pagode It's a flying temple attraction, or rising viewing tower on an arm instead of a pole
-Public Transit in the form of busses can be taken either from 's Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) Central & Tilburg Central Stations
