If no one mentioned it earlier Flex Seal makes a rubber paste that is thicker than the silicon or 3M product and is nearly a perfect match that is easier to smooth out. Thanks for all the great videos.
@@MomentofZed I just looked it up. The door pulls are just under $800.00 depending on the source. Apparently, the integrated plastic mounting points snap. I saw one youtuber trying to fix it with a combination of JB weld and photo-reactive glue.
I've got a 98 Atlanta blue 1.9 almost exactly like yours, other than I have a matching removable hard top. You have the second most beautiful car on the planet.
My pleasure! I think this ended up being a "what not to do video" more than anything. If you've got a big gap like mine, I wouldn't use the runny silicone. I may end up putting a rubber patch on mine, right now it looks like snot. You may see that next week.
You put a q tip in the drain hole. Which direction does it go? Down the a post or across the top of the wind screen? I tried pushing something down the hold but it doesn’t seem to go more than a couple of inches? Should it go further?
Hi - I'm from Kent England. my Zed 3 is the rare Pistachio with Lotus White sport seats. M54B22 with 60K miles. I love anything Zed so this channel is now a must! No leaks on the replaced roof but lots of vids to catch up here. Thanks for what you're doing!
Hey Hope you are well! My 2000 bmw z3 (Firecracker) has consistently gotten 300+ miles/tank. The last 2 tanks it has dropped to just over 200/tank. Any suggestions as to what is happening? The only light on is the passenger airbag light. Keeping oil checked regularly and when I checked the tires yesterday they were at 32 (recommended is 32) Thoughts?
@melisfre sorry busy week, was going to look into that. I assume the tank isn't leaking. Have you put a reader on it to see if its running rich? My other thought is your gauge is reading wrong. Unless you're taking it full to fumes based on the gas pumps readings.
I have consistently gotten 300+ per tank on my 2000 z3. Suddenly the past 2 fillups I’ve gotten just over 200. Any idea why this would happen? I checked my air filter and it looks pretty good.
Mine does too. What I can see is similar to the video; light entering, but this time between two segments of the rubber seal across the top of the passenger window. Check those "joints" and if you see light coming through, you have the same issue I do. My plan is to do the same thing I did in the latest video (an update to the one you commented on). That is, fashion two very small inner tube patches, one for each seal, held on with silicone. If you haven't seen the update, check out the video I posted on 5/2. Thanks for watching and subbing!

Thanks for the info and for watching! Merry Christmas!
Just tried out this flex seal on my 2000 z3. Color matches perfect and shears extremely well, would highly recommend using flex seal for this purpose!
If you haven't already, showing options to repair the interior door pulls that seem to break might be a good idea🤷♂️
Thanks! I've been lucky on that so far, but many haven't. I've heard they are expensive.

Looking at an 01’ and this and the common seat bracket issue need addressing. Thank you for making this!

Many thanks for having a RUclips channel devoted to the BMW Z3. I have a '97 1.9 5-speed and am always interested in pointers for Z3 owners.
I am 73 and 8 months ago I purchased a 97 Z3 1.9l manual transmission and I just love it. I will keep it for a couple more years at least.

I cut a piece of bicycle tube and used silicone to affix it to the plug. works like magic
Funny you should say- on my way after work to get a bike tube and film part 2- can't stand the way it looks. Thanks for watching and the comment!

Down the post if I remember correctly. I did it to make sure I didn't leak any sealant in there.

if you got the non flowable version of this it wouldve fixed your runny issues.
Why not test it in the video to show the audience how impactful the silicone was? Would be easy.
I was young and inexperienced back then 😀
