Whether night fishing or staging pre-dawn or post-sunset fishing raids having a well thought out kayak lighting and electronics system is key. Power and lighting systems should be designed to improve the fishing experience, increase safety, and not limit kayak angler visibility with blinding cockpit or navigation lights. Using a wireless five digital switch from Yak Power I connected my fishfinder as well deck and stern lights, a glow box, and navigation lighting.

You need to customize kayaks for a living this is well done and the amount of gear you put on your kayak is impressive
Thank you for the video! It's a joy to see a clean job done on this enhancement of your fishing machine...if I was to do something like that , I would have done it the same way...God's blessing to you !
I would like the safety aspect of the switch blade transducer on my auto pilot. But i hate all that electrical cable you have coiled and hung onto the arm. Is that necessary? Thanks so much 4 your help. I am new to this game. Mike
Just read that yellowish warm led's attract the least amount of insects as well. The ones that do come tend to not hang around as they would around a white light.
Really dig your creativity with this setup!
Very nicely done, sir! Excellent explanation, too.
As a techno geek I say to my self wow that is really cool, as a pragmatist I think "really we needed a remote to turn on a light that is within easy arm reach?" Ya a simple six switch panel mounted in the side wall would conform to the KISS method and has zero chances of being lost. But Like I said wow that is super cool!
I feel like using a remote rather than having to drill another hole and wire it is much more pragmatic and simple
Hey Tyler, your videos are very helpful and you do clean, smart work. I'm also in the columbia basin (Kennewick) and I ordered my 120 in Photic Camo yesterday, hope to see you on the water this year.
AWESOME and a very clean job! I have the Autopilot 136 and would like to do something like this to it! Great video! Be safe!!
Great video! I just ordered the parts for the Power Box from your links.
Looks good. I like those amber lights
What gauge wire were all those connections for the battery dry box and yak attack power?
@spilt milt productions
Sweet setup!
Looks really good but the only downside for me is having to drill a hole.
Awesome video. Considering doing something similar... do you have a video or photo of how you set up the inside of the dry box?
I'm getting gear ready for summer kayaking, before the demand peaks. Have any reviews of lightweight/sun clothes you can share in a video? I'd like to find a good pair of pants that I don't mind getting a little wet in and still pedaling all day.
I really like the light breathable stuff from Kuhl for my pants. I have a variety of breathable sunshirts from Huk and Simms that I like
@@spiltmiltThanks for the tip! you didn't lead me wrong on my emperor dry suit.
very good vid 😉👍
Thought about buying a Nilight led whip light like for a jeep and make it my 360° white light for my Yak.
Another great video. The link for the 5 circuit Yak Power system doesn’t work anymore. Wanted to use it so you get commission. Thanks.
Thanks for the heads up
This looks really sweet! Do you know of any online store that ships worldwide that has these kinds of lights?
Will drilling holes in kayak for these accessories invalidate the lifetime warranty on the hull from Old Town?
No.
First of all Nice bro! Second where did you get the uv lights from?

Can you show how you made that battery case I understand it but would like to see wiring inside please
I had asked you on your last video about the part that screws into the back of the remote for the ram mount I haven't heard back you from you yet was wondering to get a link to which piece to buy I go on the RAM website and you can't see nothing that has the threads the through to thread into it the remote that is for the motor
Its just a small RAM mounts ball that can be tied into their Tough-claw system www.rammount.com/part/RAP-B-379U-252025
The cigarette lighter you just wired yak plugs on the end of it? It is not made by a yak correct?
I just bought the cord off Amazon
Those led lights, what size hole had to be drilled? U have any installation videos😊
I don’t recall the hole size and don’t have an installation video
Howdy. I have the 10" red/green navigation light strips I still need to install on the bow. They'll mount 1 inch down from the top side. I see you mounted yours up higher on top. Any reason why you chose the smaller button lights over the 10" led strips? I chose the 10" because I want to make sure other boaters have a better chance of seeing me easier in the dark. What are your thoughts?
Personal choice. The button lights are easily visible.
@@spiltmilt Great, thanks for the reply. Good luck fishing! ✌️🎣🇺🇲
How did you access the back of the forward facing interior lights and the UV lights to screw in those locking bolts on the back of the lights?
From the hatch behind the battery
Your connection from your power on your Fish finder. Did you just crimp it to a yak plug so you could connect to the yak position number 1?
I used an SAE connection
Heading up to Baker Lake in July do you use this type of LED system on a peddle powered kayak?
No reason you couldn’t
@spiltmilt The regs are clear as mud as to what's required. White 360 min I guess.
Minimum is a 360 light yes
How did u get behind / in the hull to mount those lights on the deck?? Do u have a install video
I don't have an install video but very easily reachable from the in hull access under the seat, unless you are a T-rex.
Any videos on actual install?
No sorry
Where did you get the amber button lights for the interior? I see yakpower doens't offer those. Defiantly interested in that color over white for my Unlimited.
Precision Sonar link in the description
Thanks for the reply. Im currently floating a Nucanoe Unlimted and im looking to install exterior button lights for navigstion on the bow and would like to run a few of those amber lights throughout the interior. My Unlimted doesnt have a front bow hatch, just a small stern hatch and some knockouts for wiring. Can these lights be tightened down from the outside or do you need to be able to get hands up inside of the hull to tighten?
What kind of lights are those and would you be willing to tell me where you got em?
Link in the description.
I have a couple questions about the LED lights, when it comes to installation or setup. When looking at the Precision Sonar LED light kits, they do not say what connection type they have. What type of connections do Precision Sonar LED Lights come with? How did you make them work with the Yak Power System? I wasn't sure if you ended up buying both the Yak Power LED lights and the Precision Sonar lights or etc. If you could please be so kind as to provide a breakdown. I have been searching for these steps, but haven't found any.
They just come with exposed + and - wires. I wired them to SAE connectors and then plug them directly into the YakPower switch. Super easy.
@@spiltmilt I got another inquiry if I may. How short is the threaded area on those custom lights? I have a rather narrow area, I'd like to place them. Unfortunately Precision Sonar's site doesn't give a lot of detail on these things.
I ordered the same navigation lights, after seeing your video. Is there any issue with the navigation lights being in your field of view, where they are located? Just wanted to make sure before I drilled holes. Didn’t know if I wanted to put them at the same location you did, or just below the bend so they aren’t visible to me at all.
Great video!
They don't cause any issues for me.
What kind of batteries are you using
I use ReBel lithium batteries www.rebelbatteries.com?afmc=1d
Is the 12v car adapter plug from yak power?
No got it off Amazon
@@spiltmilt thank you!
How long can you run those electrics on a 10ah?
Hundreds and hundreds of hours. The amount of energy the led's draw is < 0.02 milliamps per hour.
@@spiltmilt thanks for the reply! Can you do a video on understanding electrics? How to determine your needs and so forth ? Thank you, love your videos btw.
im too chicken to drill into my hull
That kayak is in the price range of a bass tracker XL which I feel defeats the purpose
An $11,000 boat? Ahhh... I don't think so. even with his upgrades, the package is less expensive than a non-tricked out new Hobie Pro 14.
Try putting your tracker xl on a roof rack and let me know how that goes 😂
@@spiltmilt that would be difficult but it comes on a trailer. I bet its a lot harder to put that thing on a roof rack that backing up a trailer. Oh and you can take friends and be far more comfortable. I just think those yaks have moved away from the purpose and alluring capabilities of a yak.
I wanted a $40,000 Boat but settled on the auto pilot 120. Its the business at a 10th of the cost.
Don’t have to put $100+ gas in it every weekend or insure it. Plus can get in place a boat can’t. Best part don’t have to use anchor or $2000 power poles. He even figured how to add a seat to the kayak. Very nice job maximizing a great product
I’m digging your Scotty mounts, where did you find them? Asking coz I need them so I can use a Scotty downrigger
I don't use Scotty. These are RAM Mounts.
