Hi Musora, I wanted to say that I love your content that you produce and all the work you put towards it! Josh’s techniques have really helped me. I appreciated the advice about using a thesaurus. He also said that ‘people who haven’t figured it out will sacrifice phrasing to make lines rhyme and great writers will do the exact opposite.’ Very inspiring! And lastly, I loved how he said to ‘not turn it off.’ I live and breathe music; he described the way I feel so accurately. I am a teenager and am looking to find my path into the music industry. I started as a bedroom guitarist and now I play in a worship band. I love to write music which is heartfelt and want to help others with my music. Josh’s video has really helped me make another step forward with writing my music. Thank you again!! ❤
I tried clustering since i struggle a looooot with lyrics in my songs. It helped me a lot just starting writing without feeling like it’s non-original ballads in the end. ”Make them feel that” is equally about yourself writing lyrics you are proud of creatively and that’s why it’s awesome to start from clustering. It worked for me! Great advice!
As an idiot music making addict with no experience what so ever, every tip you gave in this video was just tremendously helpful. Yesterday, I tried out the clustering method and it was actually very effective at getting me a starting point to build off of. Although it does seem like a simple concept, I would have never thought of something like this on my own, so thank you so much! I also tried to keep in mind the "phrasing" over rhyming when I was coming up with lyrics, but I think my language skills still needs a bit of work before I can effectively use that tip. Overall, this video was a huge help for me and I hope you keep on making content like this! Keep up the good work!
I tried using the clustering technique and already got some ideas for a song. I am just getting into playing music and have been wanting to be able to write some songs but have never been able to get the right words down on a page. This video is really helping. Thank you for making it!!!
Really enjoyed that quote he used of I don’t write a song everyday, but I’m a songwriter everyday. That combine with taking the pressure off of trying to make a perfect track in the DAW while writing actually helped me do a very rough version of what was just a fun song. Probably never going to finish it because it’s not great but it was fun to make and I felt like just by making it, it was already a big step towards improving my song writing ability
Great tips. Most useful for me was the suggestion to use a thesaurus with a focus on syllable counts and phrasing. I’ve often used a thesaurus for lyrics, but always with an eye on rhyming the last syllable of a word, not thinking much about phrasing. That example of the non-rhyming song was really eye opening. I just tried Joshua’s suggestion - now I have a whole page of synonyms for the topic of my song, divided into lists by syllable count. Super helpful. Thank you! If I win that keyboard I promise to put it to good use creating songs.😄
This video came out right as I happened to be working on my first set of lyrics in a very long time. Using a thesaurus is such an excellent tool and I ended up using a word I'd never even heard before (sybaritic) in the refrain of the song I'm working on. I've been struggling to solidify my ideas for the other sections, they're still pretty nebulous at this point, but I think the bubble map he used early on in the video could be a fantastic way to direct those ideas more effectively.
I started writing song lyrics again after a long (10 years!) break and I am happy to do a little 'check up' on how I do it vs the advices in this video, so thanks for it! I recently wrote a song lyrics in a different language (I usually write in English) and doing that felt like trying to tame a completely different beast!

Almost rhymes for life! I just released the first episode of a new series where I write & record an original song from scratch every week, describing my entire process along the way. I’d love it if you’d check it out!
@@hlqa7938 - Why do you think that only “gigging musicians” are interested in songwriting? Everybody else commenting on this video thought it was great & I’m sure not all of them (if any) would fit that description. So if this kind of content annoys you, scroll on by or unsubscribe. There must be a zillion other channels out there with “guitar content” that would suit your interests better.
... Unless you have all that intuitively ingrained into your brain, I don't think you can write a hit! It takes YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, and possibly the right collaborator to write good songs!
Ok, so I took my phone and just let it flow: I just picked a random thing 2 start writing about, I picked the hunger I was feeling, I started clustering, almost without thinking n filled da screen on my phone in a few minutes, then started humming some melody out of da blue n recorded it on voice notes. Finally I sat on my daw n this is da draft I made in an hour or so: Please don't mock me, it's just a very raw, crude draft, just because I loved this video n wanted 2 try the method inmediately. Though I might have broke one of the rules and forced a bit of a rhyme😂 But by that stage it was just becoming a fun mess around song

I kinda wanted to hear how the vase song turned out in the end...
Can it be due to the change in name is causing the decrease in views? Cuz the content quality is top notch.
Appreciate that. We are just getting restarted here and stoked for the future of the channel.

So go somewhere else!
