    Keep it up man. Can't get enough vids about Monsters. Still kicking myself for selling my 307 and 309. Just bought a SKX779 on eBay for like $250 but it was in mint condition. Plan on rebuying the 307 and 309. Especially after watching your vids.

    Hi Rob, about the blue monster that you say was limited to 1000 pieces, my information, when I bought mine, was that they were actually limited to 1200 pieces. Like you, I don't have any real evidence of this, but I thought I would chime in.

    I found a mint SBDC023 (3rd. gen. Orange Monster) in Japan for just over $300 with an extra rubber strap and the blue sticker still on the case back. It's a beauty and looks great on orange-themed NATOs.

    Watching this video in 2024, after 7 years. Rob was more than correct in his monster advice. Looking for SRP313 and they are going for more than $800 on ebay. It's crazy that monster prices keeps on climibing.

    Wholeheartedly agree on the SRP581. It's my office Monster.
    Wouldn't use it as a beater because of the (PVD?) coating.
    Won't be available new for long either. That's how Seiko rolls.

    Great informative video...I'm a new sub..was great seeing all the various styles of monsters...
    I'm a huge fan of seiko divers..currently I'm on a padi binge..lol
    Are you certain about what you said about the samurai...I was under the impression that both the samurai and sumo were in stainless and that the shogun was the one available in titanium.
    Great vid. I look forward to viewing more content

    I'm glad I chose the 309 as my first ever real watch, and elated that it literally tripled in price for what I paid for it, but..
    I'm never going to sell it. It's too endearing and my baby. Always makes me smile when I wear it or check the time.
    Looks like it's time to find it a couple brothers & sisters upon watching this video.

    Immediately after your Monster montage, I actually emailed Higuichi and Chino Watch for a bunch of the more limited Monsters and sadly both sellers did not have them. That Zamba Monster is NUTS! I love it! As of this post, it is still available at Shopping In Japan and does not say "HURRY!!! LAST ONE" like it does for the Monster Sun.

    Hey just picked up your channel. What about the Seiko Starfish? I bought one on the bay advertised as a Monster for about $200. They are funky as can be but they didn't make a lot of them and I don't see them much. By the way I bought (2) SRP455 when they first came out and made good money a year later but kick myself in the ass for not keeping one of them.

    I was not aware that it was a huge secret to find Chinese made parts in Seiko watches. I have known about that for several years. However, here is one that I find intriguing. I have been shopping around for a Swiss Made watch and during my extensive travels :))), I noticed on the case back, "Swiss Parts." That doesn't tell me that every component is Swiss in origin. My question is, okay Swiss Parts, but where are the other parts from? There is a lot of play with words in marketing these days, and I would caution to do your homework prior to coughing up a great deal of cash for one of these. Thanks for reading.
    Regards,
    Tony

    • @RandomRobReviews
      @RandomRobReviews  7 лет назад

      So true. The more I talk to Watch makers (micro) I am learning most of the parts are in fact from China. It's always about profit, and that drove the market to China. Will take a long time to change that.

    It's interesting that the ones that came with the 'Superior' tag are more accurate than those without. My Twilight Monster (311K1) is plus 2 sec per day, the Haloween is plus 3 sec, and the Dracula is plus 5 sec. They are more accurate than my 12,000 dollars Hulk and Batman which tend to register negative times. My Jade Monster is also plus 5 sec per day.

    The older ones with the 7s are NOT windable or hackable. Your right though, solid movement but i would never buy a watch nowdays that wasn't at least windable. Most of us here probably own a few watches so its not practical in any case.... loved the review. Monsters look awsome, it will be my next purchase.

    What do you think of the Gen.4? I really like the bracelet on the 4th Gen. Wonder if it would fit the other Generations? I would like one with steel bezel, just a clean Monster, and with the best movement possible(6R15 or other?), maybe changed to a sapphire crystal. What would you recommend? I do like the Snow or Ice Monster, with the white dial. Just want one to use all time. And I gladly pay extras for quality, beauty and other stuff, changing or upgrading. Please let me know what I could do and what you think about updates and the possibilities there.

    I love Monsters. I just sold my 1st gen 7S26, but to jack up the price simply because of the color of the dial, multi-colored trim or producing a limited number of pieces with LIMITED EDITION on the dial is ridiculous. All this does is drive up the cost of the Monster. 7S26 models, at best is a $200 watch, the 4R35/6 $300-350, and the gen 3 with the 6R15 is at best $550-600 regardless of the amount of paint they apply to it or the dial color or what is written on it. Its a Monster. Same case, same movement, same everything except graphics. Folks who are willing to spend, in my opinion an inflated price for these watches are only encouraging Seiko to continue to over charge for their watches for no reason. Add a ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal and the 3rd gen watch would be a $700 watch, max.

    If I was giving advice I would say don't fall for higher prices on the limited editions watches, Seiko makes limited addition watches all the time and will continue to do so year after year.
    Harley Davidson makes limited addition bikes every year and Harley bikers don't get sucked into paying twice the price for a used Harley just because it has a limited addition badge!

    200 dollars😂😂😂😂😂 I wish. I just ordered the blue dial save the ocean and it was more than 200!🤣🤣 but I guess in 6 years I’ll be laughing at 350-500 price.

      Looks like they are disappearing fast. I just ordered one for 199 bucks and two minutes later their status was 'sold out', so it looks like I got the last one... They also had new baby orange monster for 120, saw it yesterday but gone today, I lost 'cos I decided to sleep on it...
      If you're lookin for 313, there are two on ebay for about 300 bucks, on rubber strap thou, from Italy... I think one is free shipping.

    could anyone provide some good websites for buying monsters? I've just started a collection and discovered seiko monsters and really want one but would like to buy from trusted sites/dealers. thanks

      Last one I bought was on eBay. Get on some Facebook watch groups and start looking, most sellers are good and you can get references.

      Random Rob I've been looking at a srp581 and read on 60 clicks that it was limited but when I contacted the seller they were not sure that this was correct. Any chance you can provide any info on it?

    • @RandomRobReviews
      @RandomRobReviews  7 лет назад

      Can't find any confirmation that it's limited. Great one to buy though, think about $300 on eBay. If that's the one you like get it now.

      Random Rob cheers rob for the info. one last question is there much difference between the j,k1,k2 models? i just missed out on srp313j which went for £230 but i can get a black k1 model for £190 and a red teeth k2 model for £179. I've read different things about the letters, some say its where they have been made and others say its the code for different straps. is the build quality different in the models?thanks

    • @RandomRobReviews
      @RandomRobReviews  7 лет назад

      Personally I have not noticed any major difference in the j vs k models. I have noticed various bezel issues all with in same models and others. That part seems very random, you can pop the bezel off and adjust the spring.

    They are such hideous watches. I honestly don't see what people see in them. Honestly I don't see any redeeming quality in them
