So, here is a thought: What if the Pregnant is only so bloated because it has endlessly consumed dead bodies? Pretty much no Necromorph eats. They kill and leave the dead body to be reanimated. Well, if the Pregnant actually devours the body, it would give rise to the bloated appearance. This would also give it a belly full of bones and loose flesh, with which the Swarm can be made. This would help explain why there are dozens of Swarm for just one Pregnant.
Perhaps what is really happening here is that loose flesh and gore that is too small to be reanimated by the Infectors and too far from The Corruption is consumed by the Pregnant and is then repurpose for later. :)
Maybe pregnants eat immobilized necromorphs? So for example, if isaac kills a slasher it's body will be left on the ground, if a slasher finds another dead slasher it'll eat it and turn into a pregnant

Something I really like with your theories is that they seem too perfect to be unintentional. Still, you never really know if developers did something for deeper meaning, or just because it looked cool.
I find a good way to take out swarmers in DS1 is the flamethrower. Sweeping the crowd with the flamer usually kills most of them.

Oh, how I loathed the swarm. There I am, in a hurry. Running along paths I've been before. I turn a corner and suddenly there are literally dozens of them on me. No amount of button tapping will save you from them at that point. The worst kind of trap, really. Because if you're in that much of a hurry, you probably haven't saved in a bit.

He made an error btw, those are "Swarmers" and the ones in dead space 3 are "the swarm." two different species.

Roanoke, I love your videos on Dead Space morphology! The twisted, rearranged anatomy of Dead Space's Necromorphs has been fascinating to me, and I love your narrations on them!
As a simple suggestion for the next Necromorph morphology video, could you do Dead Space 3's Creepers (nickname for Divider heads) and Shamblers (corpses possessed by severed Divider heads, capable of using guns but with very bad aim)? Perhaps, maybe a video running through the Enhanced Necromorph variants?

Dead space 3 infection for the swarm is extremely similar to the Resident evil 5 Type 2 Plaga, where it's forcefed into a victim and rip's through the esophagus to make it's way up towards the brain.

I have a question. Do the brother moons actually hunt down every living being from a solar system, or could someone return "After the storm" and try to live on?
From what we find ingame, no. The Brethren Moons will strip a star system of all life. If you're in the same star system as one of the Moons and NOT currently leaving, there is no hope for you. Could someone theoretically return to a ravaged system to try and start again? Yes, but I seriously doubt the new residents would be overly friendly
@@breeze4138 there most likely wouldn't be any inhabitants at that point as all biomass would have been eaten.
On the other hand if you escape with a big enought crew for repopulation and have no maker and Unis on board theoreticaly those should be able to resettle though its probably better to go for new places as earth would most likely be a hellhole as multiple moons decending and cleaning it of live would be quiet the geological event and there is most likely a bunch of cracked crust spewing forth horrible amounts of molten rock and poisioning the atmosphere

@@Blutwind Also all of the survivors would have to have never been within range of the Markers at all, since Marker dementia stays. Like the DS2 recap says, the Markers change everyone who come into contact with them forever. One of the survivors could alert the moons to the location of humanity, or worse, one of them could have Marker blueprints in their heads.
The fact that no other alien lifeform has ever survived a Necro invasion, including the Tau Volantis race which was far beyond humanity in technology, numbers, and cooperation with each other, says a lot about the chances. I think being eaten by the moons is more of an inevitability. The Moons *made* humanity for that exact purpose, after all.

There was only one time in the game where I had trouble with the Swarm on TalVelantis is where you get off a lift and the jump right at you. Killed me so many times on the hardest difficulty because no matter what I tried I couldn't shoot 2 directions at once and once they are on you at that difficulty they instantly kill you.
Dont let this series dieeeeee, I need more dead space. You better comb every last crumb out of your space beard.

So, I was thinking of something (I think I posted it on another video, but eh, could be used now here too)
Anyway.
You know the brother moons at the end of dead space 3 (the DLC)
They were called upon or awoken by the moon after it had been "made" before being quickly killed.
And then they ventured to Earth before Isaac and Carver…
here is what I am wondering
How the hell did they get to the earth before Isaac and carver?
The closest system to our own is over 4.2 lightyears away, meaning that at BEST would it have taken them 4 years to reach earth (if they were in our neighouring system, which is extremely unlikely)
Or they just happened to be floating through space nearby by accident and just happened to be close (which is somehow even more unlikely)
How the hell is this supposed to work?
Either have I found a massive plothole, or Isaac and Clarke was hallucinating the moons arrival (The moons are maybe not thinking of time in the same way as humans, so when they say the time to warn earth is passed, maybe they think they are "almost there" but in reality are they years if not decades away, not aware of shockdrive), OR the moons are somehow able to freaking teleport around the galaxy making them hella more scary than they already were.
I like how this channel put the science in games.

holy shit, i had no idea the monster designs for Dead Space were so meticulously thought-up, with so much bioloigcal reasoning put into it. The game and the devs never made a big deal of it, and as such, so much of their concepting genius was overlooked. Thanks for covering this and bringing it to light!

Congrats as if the metro spiders and the divider weren't bad enough, you somehow found a way of fusing them with a lot more detail than what i would like
Pretty small little buggers that make you waste your ammo or distracte you from their bigger cousins or vis versa.
so he found a way to also start with the feet with a creature that is made out of hands (and probably other bones that got changed) and something that is just a spacespider made out of something completely different...maybe that's what happens to spiders when a brethrenmoon is near? Maybe they were some seaanimals on Tau Volantis.
