What are you go-to games to bring to the table when you're playing with casual gamers or "non-gamers"?

    • @SMBrwnie

One Night Ultimate Werewolf has been my recent go-to game for casual / non-gamers. So Clover is definitely on my list and I will be getting that one to bring out to the table! And for the life of me, I cannot think of any similarities between towels and mountains (except for maybe something related to water/rivers). I appreciate the work you (and the team) puts into these videos! Keep doing what you're doing.

Fun Facts, animal upon animal, and most party games because they accommodate larger player counts.

For "Towel" and "Mountain" I would probably write "Laundry" cause let's be real it is usually a mountain, containing many towels haha
Great list, I am excited to play So Clover with friends soon since I just picked it up. I love those moments of just watching people struggle with something when you know you can't say anything to help.

Towel and Mountain = Brawny. Not sure if Brawny is a paper towel brand in Canada, but they have a lumberjack hunk as their mascot lol.
Great picks, just taught my parents Patchwork. Some games that ive seen hit, Micro Macro, Make the Difference, Flipships, and maybe Project L.

Wavelength is such an excellent game. Trying to get a clue based on subjectivity, negating how you may feel about it, it's pretty great. And the clues can be so fun to give.

Great list! I love For Sale, but for some reason it's been hit/miss with non gamers. Some struggle with the pass and keep half, and the 2 phase thing. But after 1-2 games it clicks with most people.

I also love patchwork and wavelength to play with people who doesn’t play games. Also like sushi go party, skull, colt express, monsdrawsity and king of tokyo

This is the category I am always interested in playing with friends and family. I own 5 of the games that you covered. I think Fyfe would be a great addition to my collection. Some games that have been a hit with my non board gamers are Medium, a fake artist goes to New York, Priorities, De Ja Vu and Thats Not A Hat. Cannot forget Tapple even my I hate board game family members will play it. Trying outthe game keep it 100 this holiday season and hope everyone likes it. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday and friends with some open minds to try some new games.

If I could add to this list:
    1. Las Vegas (especially with the official white dice variant)
    2. A Fake Artist Goes to New York (for 5+ players)
    3. Strike! (it's silly, it shouldn't work, but I think it's a freaking masterpiece, so much fun!)
    4. Kingdoms (especially for 2 players)
    5. Codenames
    6. PUSH (Coloretto killer)
    7. My City: Roll & Write (if you want to play a "campaign")
    8. Bohnanza
    9. Just One
    10. 6 Nimmt!
I had a great success with introducing these games to non-gamers ;).

So Clover sounds up my alley. For towel and mountain, maybe you would go with sweat? A towel to wipe the sweat from hiking a mountain 😅

Happy holidays to all at AYCB - some great picks there, Dylann.
My top ten are the following (always subject to change):
1st (dice) - Rumble Nation (hard to find, so I proxy/DIY with Sequoia components)
    2nd (cards) - Ohanami
    3rd (tiles)- Ingenious
4th (cards) - Coloretto (I prefer to play with recent Triqueta rules, as 'sets of 3' are optimal)
5th (cards) - Enchanted Plumes (I proxy with Ohanami cards 10-109, last digit is rank 0-9, proceeded by the suit, 1-10)
    6th (tiles) - Blokus
7th (dice) - Sharp Shooters (1996 Games Magazine Game of the Year)
8th (cards) - Templari (aka Serengeti or Don)
    9th (tiles) - Hey that's my fish!
    10th (dice) - Can't Stop

40secs in and I’m impressed, engaged and I’d wanna sit at your table if we were at a convention 👍🏽
Good use of hands to show path of thought, subtle pauses at the “so” verbiage to manage ideas and breathing without “ums” or “uhs” 👏🏽
Did someone go to a few Toastmaster meetings 😉

Haha thank you! I have not gone to Toastmaster meetings and truth be told, I had to actually ask the other guys what those were lol. But I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

There is also Dog Lover, which is mostly the same game as Cat Lady for those who would prefer the dog theme instead.

Id go with Resort for mountain and towel.

I would consider myself a board gamer, thats why i am watching this. I am not interested in "figuring out how to get to play feast for odin". Tbh, if your game needs me to play 15 other games before i can understand it, im likely out:p Daily reninder one can be a real fan of this hobby and not care about heavy euros (or any euros, for this matter)
    Great video tho ;)

Absolutely love this list and category! My list would be: Take 5, Bohnanza, Codenames, Dixit, Draftosaurus, King of Tokyo, Jaipur, and Azul. They tend to always hit really well and most are high player interaction. Love your list too, Dylan. Definitely need to try For Sale

Almost didn't recognize you without the beanie! With or without is not a bad look. ❤ You mentioned Code Names. That's a good casual game, also Skull and Roses (aka Skull) Another two-player suggestion might be Hanamikoji. Beautiful, anime-like card artwork. I've also found Tortuga 1667 and No Thanks! easy to teach. My gateway game was Forbidden Island. Played it to death!! So Clover is so good!! (see what I did there? 😂😂😂)

Every so often I have to remind people I have a top half of a head underneath the toque/beanie.

Fyfe is an underrated gem - The game play is super fun and have awesome art work. Kosch is a good upcoming designer and his new game Forest Shuffle is also super cool. The mechanism of Fyfe feel fresh, the game is simple but deep and thinky… Lots of decision to make for linking the surf boards for maximising the points. It play well at all player count…. Lov this Game❤

FYFE got a bit too much random/luck? I see some BGG comments like that. I believe NMBR9, No Thanks and Las Vegas are nice games for this category.
