There are bands that sound like Zeppelin, Sabbath, Stones, Eagles, Beatles...but NO ONE sounds like The Who. I appreciate them more & more as I get older.
what bands like zeppelin? i guess there's bands that sound like led zeppelin 2 but there's nobody that souds like zeppelin or the beatles, frankly. you're just looking at one aspect of zeppelin or the beatles and saying a band sounds like them. nonsense
It is incredible how The Who can create such a massive sound with one guitar, bass and drums behind the vocals (along with synths and/or horns on this track). They were a force of nature.
My favorite Who song is My Generation from their Live at Leeds album. A 15 minute medley of songs added to this hit, with one bangin' riff after another. It's raw and powerful!!!
This isn't the original track that was released in 1973. I've heard this version before, but I don't know where...maybe the movie version. As someone who bought this album the day it came out, I have to say I prefer the spontaneity of the original version.
I totally understand. But I had almost forgotten about this version until it started and then I literally dropped everything I was doing and rocked out hard to it. It's so damn fun.
WHO - one of the greatest. These guys are a real legeacy band, one of the first generation of British rockers. Each member was a brilliant performer. Pete Townshend was a very deep, a true genius. "Behind Blue Eyes" is another amazing song with thoughtful lyrics. More Please🤩
The Spider on Bass was leading this insane composition . However , the whole band was absolutely insane & it's hard to peg a leader . It was the peak of pure energetic explosive rock perfection.
For those in the northeast part of the US, we just heard yesterday Roger Daltrey is doing a solo gig at Tanglewood in western Massachusetts on June 22, 2024. Tix onsale on March 19.
@@VintageWanderer it could be from the movie sound track. O know they had a time down bass in that. John didn't like the crazy one on the album. He was hiding around on it and thought it was too over the top but Pete overrode him and put it in the album. I'm glad he did.
Real rock ‘n roll from the best rock band on Earth, live or on their original recordings! Back in the day no one came close to this raw emotional feelings!BizMan you always either seem to hit the mark with your reactions or you’re peaking into my collection of music😅👍🏻🙏☮️
LOL, well I'm in the house alone except for the Presence of the Lord...and BIZMATIC on the screen! BANGER! LOL! Good stuff, man. The bass line on this song is so sick it would need an entire FLOOR of a hospital to cure it! Good of you to give a deserved shout-out to Townshend's excellent solo work! And speaking of shrinks, yeah, i saw one for a year myself right after losing my Mom at age 29. It was really good to just be able to talk, right? Here'sa joke the writer Truman Capote told about psychologists. His friend the playwright Tennesse Williams told capote that he wasn't sure he liked being in analysis. "Truman, that man keeps asking questions about my private life!!" LOL. Good hangin with ya again, Biz--peace!
Banger! Crank it up! This version must be the one from the soundtrack to the Quadophenia movie because the version on the Quadrophenia album ends with Daltrey's voice in an echo that fades out into the next track. Quadrophenia could be considered The Who's second rock opera after Tommy. It's far less surreal than Tommy, but the songs on it are no less great -- "The Real Me", "Love, Reign o'er Me", "5:15", "Sea and Sand", "The Punk and the Godfather" ...
You might want to check out the entirety of Quadrophenia, especially since you liked The Real Me. This album was done as a rock opera like Tommy. That version of this song has a slightly different ending that segues into the next, titular song that's completely instrumental. It's great that this song is getting more attention lately, but it's also a bit of an oddball to yank from the rest of the album since it's essentially a loredump for what's next.
Quadrophenia. ALL of it. In headphones just for you to enjoy... I liked Tommy, but Quadrophenia (and the tune, Naked Eye) is what turned me into a Who fan. In '75, I turned 18, graduated HS, and could buy beer. I saw Jaws in the theater and the Frampton "Comes Alive" tour in the summer. But the absolute highlight of the year was seeing The Who with Mooney in November. Great year! I saw the Tommy tour twice in '89 and saw them once again in the early 2000s, before John passed. I've seen The Stones twice and Zep once, The Who were the best live stadium/arena shows I ever saw. Because you always dig into the lyrics, here's another 10 from Pete. (and some of his best lead playing) It's Kenny Jones on drums, not Mooney, but still great. Genius lyrics. The Who Naked Eye ruclips.net/video/KqQCZNWaMBY/видео.html RIP Mooney and John. Thank You!
Love this band and Quadrophenia is my favourite album by them. Having said this, I have become cynical about their continued touring. I had mixed emotions about them carrying on after the passing of Keith Moon. They replaced him with Kenney Jones. I understood they were still young then and had lots left to say. Hell, they had just finished Who Are You. After Jon Entwistle passed, I thought they should have hung it up. This song is indeed a banger. As good as Roger's vocals and Pete's guitar are, it is driven by Keith's drumming and especially by the Ox's bass line. There was only one Ox and he can't and shouldn't be replaced.....
The Quadrophenia is a great rock opera, one of the best albums of the 1970s. It's also a fantastic rocker of an album (double vinyl actually). For more rockin music from Quadrophenia, I suggest either of these songs: 5:15 and The Punk Meets The Godfather. The former is introspective lyrically. The latter has more social commentary. All of the songs fit into a story, climaxed by a song you already know, called Love Reign O'er Me.
Check out their song Substitute 🔥 What you were saying about people walking out with mask, reminded me of the Billy Joel song The Stranger, which is what that's about. It's a great song
@@BigC.this is the studio version, it’s the single mix, not the album. That’s why the ending is different. It’s not going into the next song on the lp.
You do excellent videos. Now please do one for the 12 dreams of Dr sardonicus album as one complete listen. You're wearing headphones. Perfect for this masterpiece. And if you don't believe it's a masterpiece look at all the reviews on Allmusic. Thanks to the evil 1996 communications law, signed by rotten Republicans and rotten Clinton, we have basically two radio stations in the entire country for rock and roll. And they're both terrible. They probably only rotate 3,000 songs of that. And that is killing albums like this. They'll never put a spirit song in their rotation and yet this might be one of the five best rock albums of all time. You never tired it. You could listen to it a dozen times in one day and want to listen to it a 13th time before you go to bed. Especially with the headphones. Especially with the headphones. The environmental theme of the album is mind-blowing because it's the first album in rock history in which it was mostly a concept album about trying to get back to living normal lives like we would have lived if we just lived in nature and didn't mess it all up. You know, log cabin - okay. McMansion asphalt supermarket parking lots - not okay. But if you must single out a song. Consider these three: Nature's Way; Mr skin: Life Has Just begun. Bon appetit for your ears. Thanks.
One of the best “bass songs” ever, ever. RIP Ox
John E playing lead bass!
The Ox
The Who is my favorite band since 1965 when I was 4 years old I heard the song The OX on the LP My Generation
Gotta be one of the greatest bass performances in Rock history, if not THE best…
There are bands that sound like Zeppelin, Sabbath, Stones, Eagles, Beatles...but NO ONE sounds like The Who. I appreciate them more & more as I get older.
They're just too good!
I appreciate them more now. I love reaction channels , makes me so happy the young ones are discovering the best music ever. 50s - 80s and love it.
Queen is another band that no other sounds like, maybe more so.

i guess there's bands that sound like led zeppelin 2 but there's nobody that souds like zeppelin or the beatles, frankly. you're just looking at one aspect of zeppelin or the beatles and saying a band sounds like them. nonsense

I can't fault this one...John shows what he can do when he has thought about it a little while!
Thanks David I knew the bass was different right away, I Didn’t know about this version.
The ending was a surprise. I had never heard it

Been listening to that song since elementary school and that bass still sends a physical chill up my spine.

Dat bass!!! Always loved this one.
John on the Bass was joking around playing the bass but it was so good that they kept it ! That bass was a first take. Cheers.
This was the toned-down version!
yea it was different for sure. Not sure I had even heard this version before....@@izzonj

Great reaction! 'Who's Next' and 'Quadrophenia' (from which this song originally comes) are my favourite Who albums, both masterpieces imo. Cheers.
The Who ? Lol. Biz your reactions always put a smile on my face 😎
This must be a recent remix, as ive never heard John Entwhistle's bass sound like this before.
The bass in this song is insane
I honestly think you’d enjoy this whole album - the Who’s second rock opera. Consider a listen start to end: Quadrophenia
My fav who track..that rhythm section-- bass & drums drums drums like only keif could do!!

Amazing banger from The Who with a phat “lead” bass guitar and deep schhhrylics. 👍🏼

Insanely great
Bizmatik, meet Bassmatic, Mr John Entwistle, the BASS player in rock music!

the Who is one of the greatest Biz. facts
This is the movie version wich in my opinion is better than the original version
BANGER
John Entwistle goin ham on dat bass, tho.
Entwistle and Daltrey didn't like the way they were treated in the original album so they reworked the song for this soundtrack version.
This is the version recorded, or re-recorded, for the 1979 film, and not the 1973 album original, which is superior.
I have a couple of versions of this song and I never heard this one, a little different, especially the vocals but still awesome!!!
Biz > can you see the real me?
The Real Me - Bass only!
