My understanding is it was done in one take with the exception of the cut when the camera pans around the wheelchair to the back giving a chance for a black to black cut. It had to be done because they had one day for shooting and if anything went wrong with the water system/with the performance after it started it would take a bunch of time to clean up for another take so they had to split the last section for 'safety' I guess you could call it.
So glad you reacted to this! I've missed your Ren reactions. Yes, more please! It saddens me you felt you needed to ask viewers not to hold it against you for not seeing Money Game Parts 1 and 2. I hope people - especially RENagades - treat you with kindness and respect. If you feel inclined, I think you'll love 1 and 2. Always appreciate your reactions! Thank you! ❤
Ren wrote all of the music for this including the orchestral parts. He said he practiced quite a bit to get the piano intro right. He also said that this isn't precisely a one take, it has a single cut in it, but it had to due to some logistics and time constraints. He explained it all in his Twitch live stream after the video dropped. He's really proud of this one, and should be. It's another great example of Ren's pure musical ARTISTRY. The greatest sculptures in history were created slowly, persistently, over a long period of time, one small chip at a time. Chip, chip, chipping away. Ren's illness is the marble, his musical artistry is the chisel...and look at the masterpieces he's now created. A modern day musical Michaelangelo forged through fire....and the world is better for it.
It wasn't HIS purpose in life, it was all to win his fathers approval and after his father dies, at about the age of Jimmy's Mid-life Crisis he realizes that he has lost his sense of purpose. and his life becomes Chasing the Dragon, or trying to find again, the satisfaction and sense of meaning that died when his Father was gone.. "You can never get enough of what you don't need"
On his livestream he did say they had to sneak a single cut in there. The reason was because of the water scene being risky due to the fact that he only had one suit so he had to get the last part exactly right in the first take. He was super excited about the challenge and he nailed it! You did a great job analyzing this video. Thank you.
Dude is a genius. He knows how to get his words out in such an articulate way and sams vision is Oscar worthy. The chemistry between the two arts of cinematography and words is a rare thing and everyone should respect their collaboration. They just do not miss.
I could listen to an entire album of Ren’s humming! Politics, money, borders, all made by us. Politics, money, borders divide us. We are all sheep made by our governments who use those 3 things to keep us divided and greedy. We are the ones who should be working together to change our ways, we cannot depend on these things to sustain us. We need to work together or our society will self implode, just like Jimmy.
Ren poured his heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into this song and you can tell 😊 im glad you enjoyed it, now you have part 1 and 2 to look forward to 😉😁 they are both amazing in their own right 💜💜
In my opinion, I don’t necessarily think watching this first makes much difference. But definitely watch the 1st two. They are both super good. Lyric video for part 2.
“Blind eye to the po po inside of his pocket.” Blind Eyed is also the title of one of his songs that he co-wrote with Sam Tompkins. He often leaves Easter eggs in his songs referencing his other works.
There was one cut on the back of the wheelchair, for safety sake in case the rain went wrong. They wouldn't lose all the investment in the first part. The begining sung melody and the last "finger on the money game" come from MG1. Sam has said #1 was his best until this one. So epic.
Ren’s Money Game Part 3 is brilliant, because of course it is. It’s Ren. The metaphors and impressions I get from Money 3: Ren = Cassandra, a prophet who speaks the truth people don’t believe/ignore Jimmy = everyman. He is our society. He is all of us. Father=society planting in our brains the idea that our value is tied to money Power and money are fungible Everything not of nature is a human construct Diamonds have more value than seashells because we agree they have more value. There is no intrinsic difference. We create the difference. Money has value as long as we agree it has value Money determines a person’s value. If you don’t have money you’re not important. You will also have no power We’re taught to want more, that things will make us happy. Too much is never enough. Jimmy learned the hard way power/wealth does not guarantee happiness Machiavallian = means justify the ends. Anythng is permissible if you get what you want The money game = humanity committing mass suicide The love of money is the source of all evil
love your reaction to this! (lol i'm a bit behind catching up on videos this week...!). It's such a captivating song, it's unreal. I think you'll love money game parts 1 and 2 as well. For money game part 2, you MUST must must watch the lyric video!!! I know typically with Ren, live videos are where it's at, but the lyric video is the only complete version of the song, and the imagery used in the background is super pertinent to the lyrics as well!! Enjoy!!
I Don't have words for this NONE! Ren should be handed a freaking Oscar already his story telling and his ability to suck you into a song with lyrics is beyond words pure talent. This song is just more proof that Ren is very talented and can do pretty much anything when it comes to music. Both Ren and Ronnie Radke have a way of understanding music in ways we never thought were possible, just when you think you've seen/heard it all when it comes to music Ren and Ronnie release a song that blows you away. I have no words for the talent both of them have, and I'd love to see them both live one day.
If I remember correctly from the interview I watched Wren said that the video was one take but he was editing music I guess mixing and mastering it but to do 9 minutes of this in one take and knowing that Ren is a perfectionist it's unbelievably impressive especially with the budget they work on. From the beginning from the first time I heard Ren I have said that he reminds me of a mix of Shakespeare and Picasso as you bring up the comedy/tragedy of Shakespearean theater he does have a lot of the troubadour spirit in his storytelling abilities and the way he is able to get the picture in your head with his words is amazing. I mean I've experienced it with reading a lot because I am an avid reader I can actually visualize what in the words but it takes a special artist to be able to paint a picture in your mind with their words in a short song. Especially with so many elements to the stories.
Ren is a genius with an abundance of creativity and empathy. He uses that to try to make the world a better place - for the individual who finds relatability in his art and for the masses who need to come together to make changes as a community. Ren is truly a master of storytelling. If Netflix doesn’t give him his own show, they’re fools.
I feel it's a bit unfair to say that it was his greed, there is no doubt that he was greedy sure - but in this case - his Dad is completely to blame. Everything Jimmy did was for his Dad's approval - which he never got. And then his father died, so Jimmy went down the path of continuing to be as wealthy as possible in the hope that his dead Dad would somehow be proud of him - in the afterlife. If Jimmy had been taught at School however - as Ren suggested - to think for himself, rather than "follow the code" - then Jimmy might have taken a different path, realising that money does not buy happiness. But alas he was not taught that, so Jimmy thought happiness lay in doing whatever was necessary to make his Dad proud.
Beg to differ - sure, guys especially are motivated by paternal influences - but we are, each if us, responsible for how we relate to money, power & what we choose to define as our own needs beyond survival. Ren said it - there’s no excuse.
@@greggary7217 right but there are 2 points here you are overlooking. The 1st is that his Dad was constantly telling him he was not good enough - from a very early age. That deeply affects a person. 2nd A genius at 14 with an IQ of 150 - Jimmy was definitely a high functioning autistic - and those of us on the autistic spectrum can tell you it affects us even more than a neurotypical person. Look at Elon - his mother started telling him he was a genius at the age of 3 - telling an autistic child they are a genius that will change the world - results in someone like Elon. Sure someone who is clever, but also someone who believes they are the centre of the universe and everyone else is expendable.
This is such a thought provoking piece of art. Ren never ceases to amaze me with his story-telling and how he holds up a mirror to us and forces us to look inward. Samuel and Ren have made some awesome videos together, a lot of them one continuous take (Hi Ren and The tales of Jenny and Screech come to mind) Samuel also was the Director of Photopgraphy on Knox Hill's The Pot & The Kettle. It's not just about chasing money and being greedy though, it's also about nurture and how our parents shape us and often just mess us up. The dad is weaved into this song as a the thread that holds it together. All the lines where he's mentioned "listen here son" and the mention of Jimmy doing something for his daddy's approval, and the way Jummy spirals out of control after he gets the call that his dad had a heart attack and died, even at the end when Jimmy recalls the words of his father "it's such a damn shame". But from the actual words of the father you can see he's had a rough life, "this world don't give a damn about you, so take all that you can". What i'm getting to is Jimmy is set up to be extraordinary, he's a bright kid learning quickly, going to a fancy private school, IQ of 150, practically a millionaire by the age of 17, but the words of his father haunt him in a way, and the fact he's still working for his dad's approval at 31 tells me that dad was probably emotionally unavailable for much of his life, it seems like all he got from his father were comments about how it's still not good enough, never telling him that he's proud of him, which seems to be all that Jimmy really wanted. So losing such an influence would mess up anyone. Even not going down a path as dark as Jimmy (dealing arms and drugs) the lesson that "truth is an obstacle to wealth" could lead you to become someone like Bezos or Musk. You can never be too generous or your weath won't grow much, you can't be fair to everyone, because you'll lose in the end. So someone is always getting screwed over. That is actually the damn shame in this. You can't "win" in life without someone (or a lot of someones) losing. Anyway, for anyone who read this ramble, thank you. And thank you Nick for your reaction.
Great comment. I'd even say that beyond parents, society around us in the affluent world shapes us toward this end, even if we ourselves aren't experiencing the affluence in the day to day. It's the air that we breathe, in terms of enculturation. The word "progress" no longer means a betterment of the quality of life for all. It's been co-opted to mean "we can buy stuff that brings conveniences and small luxuries to people so they don't feel as resentful that they're slaves to their paycheques, while those at the top of the Money Game are sucking the lifeblood from them." The vast, VAST majority of us only have a drop or two of blood for them, but there are billions of us, and they siphon our energy while spending virtually no energy of their own because they've set the system up to be a machine that does it for them. And we've bought into the worldview that enables it, or we'd have said NO already. ... but everything is still subject to change, as someone said in a video somewhere...
In my opinion this video beautifully descibes the lovely lives created as "the Americain dream gets out of control" and crushes the "We" societies of the world replacing it with an "I" society that gets ahead of the herd. Of course that is a generalization since "I" societies have always existed in smaller pockets of the world. My favorite line is "the reaching into the cookie jar for more than we need" A masterpiece by Ren.😱 Every person that feeds into the lure of fame by watching and following the rich and famous is equally guilty. Great reaction👍 🥰🥰Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦
I think this video stands on its own. That said, watch the other two. There are many nuances you'll spot if you watch all 3 in order. I'm hoping Ren will put all 3 together like he did with the Tale of Jenny and Screech.
Great reaction nick, this is an amazing one take (subtle transition before the strings section). The album was released TODAY!!! Got my copy already it's great!!!
Yes, that's Ren playing piano at the beginning! He also composed the music for piano and strings! He directed the video and produced the music/audio. It was recorded live but it's not quite 1 take. They had to make a single edit, before the water, for obvious reasons. Yet another incredible performance from Ren and overall, an absolute masterpiece... again! :)
Not a one take. They had to change the mic from his jacket to his tie and waterproof it before the rain. So 2 parts. He said between the 2 it took 40-60 tries, he couldn’t remember but Sam will confirm during Mondays live. They only had one shot though to get the rain shot because of time and then everything would be wet for any retake. Crazy !!!!!
WHOA. ❤️ I think you may have broken the space-time continuum of the Reniverse, jumping into MG3 without knowing anything about MG 1+2!!! My friend, your "choose your own adventure" journey through Ren's catalogue is officially very unique for anyone who'd started to delve into Ren's music pre-12Oct2023! Can't wait to see you do Money Game pt 1. Most people prefer pt 2, but the first one is the one that lives deep inside my soul, and is the very worthy cinematic precursor to this one. BY THE WAY... Money Game pt 2 is a VERY rare exception to the "always choose the live video version of a Ren song." Sure, go back afterwards and watch the live version if you can't get enough, BUT MAKE SURE YOU WATCH THE LYRIC VIDEO FOR PT 2 FIRST. It's more than a lyric video, and the live version doesn't include the first verses, which is a part of how Ren sets up the magic of pt 2. I don't mind at all that you did 3 first, except that I feel a sense of... sorrow? for you? that you'll never get to have the first impression of 3 again *with* the context of 1 or 2. Which is a ridiculous thing for me to feel, cuz as I said above, it doesn't *ruin* things for you, so I'm shaking that feeling off & I look forward to more Ren from you, when you can include it in your reaction schedule! See you soon :)
@@nickforell1 hahaha, I could tell you'd be circling back to remedy your "mistake!" (not a real mistake) 5 days after release, and I see MG3 has 1.4 million views this morning... this is mind-blowing to watch. I only found Ren in March of this year; I can't imagine how it feels to fans who've been following him since Trick the Fox. I mean, or Ren & his crew of course, but that's a separate thing.
I think he was talking generally, not just the US,( but some examples were related to US). And like when he said he can't see the world surviving unless things were to change, and the petri dish, etc, refers to our actually destroying our earth as a whole.
Outstanding!!!! Yes, more Ren please!! Loved this reaction! You're right! There is a lot going on here ! Unique, masterful, meaningful! Exceptional Artistry. Thank you for your insight!❤
Think he said it was 2 takes, they had to cut it at the back of the wheel chair as if the water scene went wrong they would have lost everything. Still a staggering achievement.
At the end.. the gun didn't fire. .It's the ultimate symbol of a money game (arms) and it failed. (my interpretation but I'd love to know if anyone heard different from Ren - I think he's playing chess and I'm playing checkers most of the time).
Loved your reaction to this. I'm so excited to see what you make of Parts I and II... +1 sub and beating the heck out of the bell : ) Big love from the UK
Thanks for your great reaction ; when you have a chance watch the first two - it all fits together and MG 3 is so sophisticated and completes the trio 16:37
Please do watch 1 & 2 as a single video reaction. This one you can watch on your own as it doesn't directly link into 1&2 except by general subject matter.
Just an extreme example of each of us. Uncomfortable? Good. Take what we need and leave the rest, then, redefine need. The Petri Dish is near its limit so it’s going to happen - one way or another.
It’s not quite a one take. There’s a cut where they pass by the wheelchair before the rain scene. But the rest is. Absolutely insane, he is so freakin clever. His piano playing and voice at the beginning was stunning! Great reaction 🖤
Ren said during a live stream there’s one hidden cut right before the rain scene (they could only shoot that part once) he uploaded the twitch stream to his new bts channel RenMakesStuff
This wasn't the 1st time you did #3 first. Lol. But in this case it's cool, no twist endings. So when you get to MG #2 it's the lyric video you want to do.
Ren has an acoustic version of murderer, definitely worth a watch also he has another RUclips channel called ren makes stuff Harry Mack does a tribute to Ren 🧠💥 great reaction btw 👍
Some people say Money Game III is feeling like Hi Ren #2! Oh really? Well: Simply look at the timestamp for length of both and consider the chances that Ren did that coincidentally. Happy 9:20 y'all!
Hey Nick, I’m putting this request here in the most recent Ren reaction, so I’m begging you to react to a song he did 7 years ago called Crutch ft. Bibi (his then time GF. It has so much to say about mental health struggles and is so damn good. Right up your alley I think. I really hope you see this. ✌🏻( Read his description before if you watch it)
Don't you feel like you're cheating yourself not watching them in order? I don't care but I want to see movies/ read books/ listen to songs in order so that I understand & appreciate. Great reaction!
Unfortunately, the game has been around for a long time... and will last for eons to come. Fortunately, there are those who put their finger on the wound. It is necessary not to desensitize and not lose the ability to feel the pain that this sh... game causes and, for that, thank you very much Ren. Good video! And good reaction from you... thanks! P.S. I'd like to come back here in about 2-3 eons to see if we're still wallowing in this shitty little game!...
Great reaction! I respectfully want to suggest you do not use subtitles it’s so hard to watch you find yourself reading them instead of watching the extraordinary video performance.
You REALLY shouldn't have the closed captions on. All I see is you reading the lyrics and paying little attention to the video which is at least 50% of the experience. Poor choice I'm afraid.
Why in the world would you turn subtitles on before a word is even spoken? He speaks very clearly in plain English, the same language as yourself, yet you still put subs on before waiting to see if you struggle to make the words out? It's especially worse when we all know the majority of the time the subs are wrong, it just distracts from the vid. It's these kinda things that stop me from subbing to certain ppl.
That last line has a bit more impact if you see parts 1 and 2

In my opinion this video beautifully descibes the lovely lives created as "the Americain dream gets out of control" and crushes the "We" societies of the world replacing it with an "I" society that gets ahead of the herd.
Of course that is a generalization since "I" societies have always existed in smaller pockets of the world.
My favorite line is "the reaching into the cookie jar for more than we need"
A masterpiece by Ren.😱
Every person that feeds into the lure of fame by watching and following the rich and famous is equally guilty.
Great reaction👍
🥰🥰Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦
I think this video stands on its own. That said, watch the other two. There are many nuances you'll spot if you watch all 3 in order. I'm hoping Ren will put all 3 together like he did with the Tale of Jenny and Screech.
this is art at its finest masterpiece thank you for reacting to this sending big love from the UK ❤❤
Great reaction nick, this is an amazing one take (subtle transition before the strings section). The album was released TODAY!!! Got my copy already it's great!!!
Me, too! The digital download at least.. can't wait until my special edition vinyl comes in soon 🌈ᥫ᭡
Incredibly impressive - as you say. Great reaction - thanks Nick
My pleasure Karin!
Money game 1 and 2 are the premice of MG3, on global scale economy, but you HAVE to watch it too. Great reaction.
Crazy !!!!!
Orwell is his major influence. You will see Animal farm in most of the recent music.
One take, live. Welcome back to Ren!
WHOA. ❤️
I think you may have broken the space-time continuum of the Reniverse, jumping into MG3 without knowing anything about MG 1+2!!!
Money Game pt 2 is a VERY rare exception to the "always choose the live video version of a Ren song."
Sure, go back afterwards and watch the live version if you can't get enough, BUT MAKE SURE YOU WATCH THE LYRIC VIDEO FOR PT 2 FIRST.
Good comment! Several reactors have leapt onto MG3 without seeing MG1 & MG2. It's like reading LOTR out of order! 😉
The time and space continuum was indeed warped! I’ll be doing the others :)
@@nickforell1 hahaha, I could tell you'd be circling back to remedy your "mistake!" (not a real mistake)
5 days after release, and I see MG3 has 1.4 million views this morning... this is mind-blowing to watch. I only found Ren in March of this year; I can't imagine how it feels to fans who've been following him since Trick the Fox.
I mean, or Ren & his crew of course, but that's a separate thing.
Ren said on twitch last night, there was one small cut when he sat down when jimmy got shot in the back. But one take basically
I think he was talking generally, not just the US,( but some examples were related to US). And like when he said he can't see the world surviving unless things were to change, and the petri dish, etc, refers to our actually destroying our earth as a whole.
They don't have to be in order. It's not like The Tale of Jenny and Screech. They're all awesome. Enjoy 😊
So true, Ren is in a league of his own. There is no one to compare him to.❤
His brilliance literally brings tears to my eyes.
Outstanding!!!! Yes, more Ren please!! Loved this reaction! You're right! There is a lot going on here ! Unique, masterful, meaningful! Exceptional Artistry. Thank you for your insight!❤
actually one cut, behind the wheelchair,Ren said it,but still like a one shot
Think he said it was 2 takes, they had to cut it at the back of the wheel chair as if the water scene went wrong they would have lost everything. Still a staggering achievement.
There was one cut behind him in the wheelchair, they couldn't afford multiple takes with the water everywhere.
@Nick, i highly recommend that u do part 1 & 2 ASAP.....
Great reaction. I enjoyed your comments and insight. ❤👍
Thanks for your great reaction ; when you have a chance watch the first two - it all fits together and MG 3 is so sophisticated and completes the trio

Hey, you’re back and you have 50k! Wowwww
Please do watch 1 & 2 as a single video reaction. This one you can watch on your own as it doesn't directly link into 1&2 except by general subject matter.
Okay good to know Talan, thank you!
Just an extreme example of each of us. Uncomfortable? Good.
Take what we need and leave the rest, then, redefine need.
The Petri Dish is near its limit so it’s going to happen - one way or another.
Updated version of Plato's Cave.
It’s not quite a one take. There’s a cut where they pass by the wheelchair before the rain scene. But the rest is. Absolutely insane, he is so freakin clever. His piano playing and voice at the beginning was stunning! Great reaction 🖤
Possibly another one when the mask is tossed backwards in front of the lens.
@@finalsecretofchrono1339 no just the one. Ren confirmed it.
Sorry Sam and Ren did
@@TobiiRheaStarr Ah cool, I was keeping an eye out on subsequent viewings for other opportunities to cut. Guess they didn't need them!
Masterpiece!
Happy to see you react to this master piece enjoyed your reaction
Glad you enjoyed Ana!
Hollywood spends 300 million for a crap movie, Ren does it a million imes better for a bloody fiver in one take. This man is our bard !
Listen to Subcarpati - Până când nu pier.Different vibe.
Knox Hill did an interview with Samual today and will be doing an interview with Ren tomorrow. 👍
Sir, It was a 0 shot take, the gun never went off.
Outstanding review
Thank you! Cheers!
Yes,is one take!
Ren said during a live stream there’s one hidden cut right before the rain scene (they could only shoot that part once) he uploaded the twitch stream to his new bts channel RenMakesStuff
When you've reacted to 1 and 2, you should re react to this again as you will gain more context which might help you understand even more. ❤
That was a great reaction, you definitely need to watch Parts I and II though! 🖤
Great reaction!👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed!
This masterpiece even tops "Hi Ren"! But is a 2 take shot ;-)
Nick , I am so pleased that you v been sent stuff about Ren , I was going to find out how I could refer it to you ❤❤❤❤
Some people say Money Game III is feeling like Hi Ren #2! Oh really? Well: Simply look at the timestamp for length of both and consider the chances that Ren did that coincidentally. Happy 9:20 y'all!
Wow, that was heavy😮but the truth really does hurt, doesn't it
Thanks for opening my eyes to his music 🎶
Check out his songs “hi ren” and “suicide”
Will do, thanx
Waiting for Hunter to come in.
Ren is a prodigy.
One take but there is 1 cut at the back of the wheelchair.
Thank you ...thank me xxx
Hey Nick, I’m putting this request here in the most recent Ren reaction, so I’m begging you to react to a song he did 7 years ago called Crutch ft. Bibi (his then time GF. It has so much to say about mental health struggles and is so damn good. Right up your alley I think. I really hope you see this. ✌🏻( Read his description before if you watch it)
Excuse me, but how can one see part 3 without seeing parts 1&2?
thats not what blind eye cops in his pocket means at all, it means the cops turn a blind eye to his capers in his pockets means his paying them
Don't you feel like you're cheating yourself not watching them in order? I don't care but I want to see movies/ read books/ listen to songs in order so that I understand & appreciate. Great reaction!
Unfortunately, the game has been around for a long time... and will last for eons to come.
Fortunately, there are those who put their finger on the wound. It is necessary not to desensitize and not lose the ability to feel the pain that this sh... game causes and, for that, thank you very much Ren.
Good video! And good reaction from you... thanks!
P.S. I'd like to come back here in about 2-3 eons to see if we're still wallowing in this shitty little game!...
good stuff
Great reaction! I respectfully want to suggest you do not use subtitles it’s so hard to watch you find yourself reading them instead of watching the extraordinary video performance.
These subtitles are so wrong it's hilarious.
Except for the cross over to illegal businesses etc. does anyone else get vibes of "The Game" the movie?
❤❤❤
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💕
❤
You REALLY shouldn't have the closed captions on. All I see is you reading the lyrics and paying little attention to the video which is at least 50% of the experience. Poor choice I'm afraid.
Bro you sound like ur on a zoom call for like Verizon
FTA❤
Hunter Binden ? (to a degree)
