    Glad you found me. I no longer have the 580 but I still have my SK840 & SK860 that uses the EC1, so is the same as the internal card reader. I believe I have a 2nd video on the electronic card reader. Now if you live in the United States, I believe you can get the Mylar Sheets from Needle Tek in Washington state. If outside the US, I am not sure where. I was told to get a Number 1 pencil for these sheets but yet to do so.

      I’m so glad your videos are still up! They are helping me so much! Without you, I would have been so frustrated. You made my bad machine week into a pleasurable experience.

    As long as I have this machine, I will do what I can. I also have the 840 that I intend to keep and eventually may sell the 580. Just let me know what you want to see and I will try to get to it as soon as I can.

    Electronic machine will plug into electricity, the manual machines either have a punch card that goes into a slot or even buttons that will select needles across the bed as needed. Hope that helps.

    Thank you Roberta. I have the 560 Singer/Studio, and hope you will do further instruction videos for this machine.

    All further instructions in working with the Studio Electronic would be helpul. Mine is sitting and not being used, and I would like to put it into use. I have been using the Bond Elite and Brother 260 bulky because I have been having trouble getting acclimated to the Studio 560. Would also like detailed videos on the design cards and the Knit Contour. If your videos could be just a bit longer, we could get more detail to help over the learning curve. Thanks

    Your Awesome Roberta!! Thank you! That did help, Im Happy to say I've mastered the cast on..All But the waste yarns cast on with the ravel cord. Would you so a slip stitch some time?? Or just a regular pattern on this machine..My patterns not look like the ones pattern book,..
    Iam attempting to make the ear flap hat you have but when i go back to increase I slip the yarn under the needle and over the remaining..then when going back over them
    my machine lays yarn over all them.?? Thank you SO M

    I am delighted to have found your videos. I have the Singer 560 ( which is similar to the 580 I think ) and not a clue what to do with it, so thank you for this. Did you do any other videos on how to use this machine and where on earth do you get new mylar sheets from and the special pencil to use with them?
    Again, thank you for any help you can give me and others who find themselves in a similar predicament.
    .

    Thank you so much for this video Roberta! A couple questions if you don’t mind: in the manual they tell you to use the Needle 1 cams that sit horizontal on the back of the bed (to allow the machine to know where you want the pattern to start) but I see you didn’t use them and instead used the vertical slider cams. Do you know the function/difference between these 2 cams? Also what is the point of the weaving knobs? They give very little instruction as to when to use them or not. Thanks for any help!!

      When my estranged allows me back to our house to get my belongings, or maybe it is his new female that tells him no, then I can get my other machines, I do have the sk/sr313 that I should get out and use. But if I remember this, I will get back to you.

    Helle there, I just bought a Royal Knitmaster 500, and I am trying to get started right. In the video I Can see that you are pulling the needles forward and then lay the yarn on them. My problem is that I cannot see in the video which way the yarn is put after being put from below through the yarnleader in front. Whereabouts do you Leader it from there under the sledge. Is it possible to make a short video showing what happens under the sledge with the yarn. Sincerely yours Kirsten from Danmark

      I am not really set up for recording, but I can try with my cell, not sure how that will go. Give me a little time for that.

    Hello , I have the same machine as yours and I have problem with patterns. When I want to do pattern on my work machine split it in half ( one side on the left, middle without pattern and second half of pattern on the right side) I set up everything just like you show in your videos. I'm from Poland and it's hard to find any information about this in my country, maybe you can help me. Greetings from Poland :)

    Are there any machines that exist where you don’t have to push the carriage? I recently hurt my hands and I would not be able to ever do something like that. So I’m looking for a machine where you can just put your yarn And basically press the button and it’ll knit . I can’t really knif with my hands anymore but I have a lot of the yarn left over that I need to use up

      So sorry to hear that. But Brother does have the Garter Carriage that will knit for you, but they are old and some of them may need fixing, hard to say until you get one.
      There is also the item that hooks to the K-carriage to knit for you, but if you do find one, they are costly.

    Hi Roberta, it is possible to do punched cards for Singer 580? I don't really know how it works since there aren't holes in this type of cards. Please help meeee!!

    • @RobertaRoseMeads
      @RobertaRoseMeads  7 лет назад +1

      The 580's take a Mylar Sheet, so no punch cards. The good thing of the Mylar Sheets is they can be 60 stitches wide and if I remember correctly 150 rows deep. So one can have a very large design on a sweater. But then the smaller designs also work up pretty well with them.
      Not sure if you can get the Mylar Sheets but I think I have seen them come up for sale on eBay from time to time.
      machineknittingetc.com/silver-reed-electronic-patterns-sk560-sk580-sk830-sk840-sk860-sk890-ec1.html
      machineknittingetc.com/studio-silver-reed-560-561-562-580-mylars.html are the Mylar Sheet patterns for the different Studio Electronic Knitting Machines. And if you are in the US, you may want to call Needle Tek in Washington state as they may have them. They have many parts for the Singer type machines, that includes the Studio, Silver Reed and then from across the Pond are the KnitMasters.
      I sure hope you can find them or even blank ones to use on your machine. Berda

    What is the difference between a electronic and one that is not?

    • @RobertaRoseMeads
      @RobertaRoseMeads  4 года назад

      So sorry for delay, I had to been pretty busy back then. The electronic machines will do more sts than the punch cards will. The only drawback is if the circuits go bad, may be hard to replace them.
