We shot another horror short, this time for the 60 Second Horror Film Contests that are out there. I always wanted to try one out. I found out that it's not super easy to shoot a horror short in 60 seconds. But we did it. I also wanted to take a shot at animating a static mask, inspired by the shorts from Danny Donahue. His stuff is awesome.

Haha yeah I may have had a pretty active imagination and fear of closets when I was a kid.
Also it’s in a perfect setup in our house to film with. Nice camera angles to use.

The whole 60 seconds horror thing is a great concept and unique, I've never came across a short with content like this!
Thanks so much! Yeah there was a 60 second horror challenge last year and I wanted to try something for it. I also wanted to try doing a little VFX work. When the monster appears in the closet, I animated the mouth just enough to give it life. I think it worked pretty well.
I have another concept I want to build on, which involves the box that I use in another short on my channel. I'm hoping to shoot another 60 second short to screen test a new creature/demon I want to flesh out. After that I plan on doing a longer short to build the world and background of it. Lot's of work, but I love doing it and it's awesome people are digging it.
Keep up the acting too! That may be one of the biggest issues I have sometimes, is just having people to call on to make stuff. It's huge when you have a group of people all wanting to create stuff like this. But trying to balance life and spare time and peoples schedules it gets tough.
This story deserves a long film.I love that 💜🤗😍💞

Thanks! It was made for a couple 60 second horror challenge contests, won one of them, and placed in the top 5 of the other major fest. Learned that it's not super easy to fit everything you want into 60 seconds haha. It also premiered over on Horrigins RUclips channel. Those guys are awesome. Check out The Witch we made also. It's a little longer, under 5 minutes, but I really tried going for the uneasy horror feeling. Thanks again and I'm checking out your stuff now!

Thanks man! Just subbed back. I watched the Evil Dead Rise videos. I'm 1000% in for that when it comes out. Evil Dead 2 is my favorite movie. When I was a kid and watched it, that's when I realized I wanted to make movies. I've watched the original trilogy more times than I can count.
I'm also interested in Skinamarink. It's playing here in Chicago next week and I picked up some tickets for it. I'm usually not really into arthouse films, but with the hype around this I figured I'd try it. And it's good to support indie films and creators.

Thanks again! We made Midnight Snack for HorrOrigins as one of their shorts premiers on their channel. I also had seen some 60 second horror challenges coming up, so figured I'd try something out. This short really took off and a lot of people ended up liking luckily. I recut it as a short and it's at about 325k views right now. It gets consistently a couple thousand views a day there which is awesome.

wow great monster! How did u make it?
Thanks! The hands I made with some gloves, clothes hangers, duct tape and latex. The body is built up with pillows to give it bulk. The face is actually a store bought mask, but edited in post. I had never really played around in Fusion, so I did a bunch of test before hand to see how it'd come out. I did some warp and animating. Just enough to give it some life but not feel weird. Each time I do a short I want to try something new. Slowly working into doing some heavier compositing, but again I don't want to do it if it looks like CGI you know?

@@Horrorchunk of course, anytime! I love the horror community, and the content people are creating right now is incredible. So I try to help however I can so we can all get better.
I have a few shorts that I want to knock out here soon. Hopefully 1 or 2 of them will be in the next month or so. I’m trying to flesh out a story surrounding that box that is in another short I did. Hopefully that can be something bigger eventually.
Nice stuff by the way too! Things like the sound design on Don’t Sleep are huge. Congrats.

Thanks! I really liked the idea of the fruit rolling and looking up at the monster in the closet. I was thinking if something was trying to trick you and set a trap, this may be how it’d go about it. I thought it came out cool.
We shot that damn rolling fruit up to the monster so many times haha. The grapefruit kept going everywhere except the way I wanted.
@@AndrewGibbs Great videography plus the sound effects you add in the videos are really compatible with scene. At that moment when the actress closed the door and footsteps wese approaching, I thought someone is actually moving towards me.
