The Flying Squirrel will always be the DWG boss craft in our hearts.

I once one-shot a tarpon with spinal mounted railgun(specialty cruiser with a single large guage spinal mount and a couple smallcraft focused secondaries). This was a lucky shot that punched the entirety of the craft and the AI along the way. With how evasive it is now, i wouldn't rely on that at all.
The Tarpon is a glorious display of conventional weapons with limited power requirements(but a lot of resource cost).

This is one of the most infuriating craft to deal with 1v1. The efficiancy vs cost is ridiculous, and you could pit 4 of them vs a Meg or Singularity for cost parity.

I think it's the most aesthetically pleasing craft in the game. That it's also scary is just a bonus.

@@joshuareznik9234 well it beats most campaign craft in the cost range of 500k to 700k but the tarpon has crams and that means doom for my frontsider (and before you ask it has missile interceptors that deal with missiles and crams)

The tarpon has always terrified me. It is an absolute monster.

When I was trying to figure out how to replicate the Tarpon's evasion awhile back, it's ACB controlled, and most of her maneuverability seems to come from the large jets in her nose ... On a related note I have used her to test some of my aircraft against, and imagine my shock and surprise when a three plane squad of wooden bombers I was testing that where rocking remote heat/frag/he missiles that came in at ~15k a piece managed to ai dead her ... walked away for 5 minutes to grab a drink, came back and she was falling from the sky ai dead ... I still have no idea how they managed that cause I couldn't get repeat results during further tests, guessing a volley of missiles go through and hit the rear of the ship

A bit funny how a craft with the front covered in rams tries its hardest to avoids collisions.

I'm currently testing my craft against this monster and ... god its annoying. (Edit: Also that APS hurts like hell which is surprising for a DWG craft)

Good old Deep Water Guard cunning... But you can beat it with high tech - yeah? It would be cool if high tech parts were locked in the campaign until you do something to unlock them - like loot or trade with the Lighting Hoods or something like that. Or maybe there could be a limitation that you first need to spend resources on overcosted prototypes before the high tech becomes efficient. There could be fun campaign where at the start everything but wood, stone and sails and simple age of sail type cannons were "experimental" at first and would have 5X the cost until you'we spend enough of them to make them normal cost..
