    No need to avoid the word: COLONIZATION. Yes, this is the vestige of Western colonization. In Shanghai, those places are called: CONCESSIONS, with a deep sense of humiliation in Chinese minds.

    • @legacy_utube
      @legacy_utube 2 года назад

      Does colonization mean “bad”? What if I told you the people there were happier? Does colonization still mean bad to you? If your answer is yes, think about your logic - your happiness is others’ sadness. You may argue that people lived a miserable life there during the colonization era - if so, why did all those people from overseas went there and built their houses there instead of their own hometowns in other places in China? And what happened to these house owners after 1949?

    Taking sugar or rather sweat cakes etc without enough magnesium to neutralize the bad effects will lead us more vulnerable to cancer growth in our body. Some doctors who have studied integrative medicine ie allopathic medicine plus naturopathic medicine will know this and that magnesium is one of the elixirs God has given us. There are many forms of magnesium, and magnesium bisglycinate or glycinate is one of the best forms. Magnesium cannot stand alone and it has to be combined with another element. Good luck to Lee !

    I’ve been to Gulangyu four times over ten years. It’s a lovely place, though sadly it gets worse every time. Last visit was two years ago shortly before Covid and I noticed a real decline in the maintenance of some of the buildings, most notably on the western side of the island where fewer tourists visit. Of course, the eastern side is crowded because it’s touristy. I’d still recommend it as a place to visit but go out of season when it’s quiet and/or stay overnight.
    Oh, another thing that annoys me now: You used to be able to take the ferry across the narrow channel for 5rmb a trip. Now only locals are allowed and tourists have to pay 20x that for a tourist cruise that takes half an hour at least. This sucks.

    • @8964TS
      @8964TS 3 года назад +1

      I’m curious about the boat you took actually. It might be a seasonal thing or maybe a post-covid policy, but the last two times I went tourists had to go from a different port on the western side of Xiamen island and were forbidden from using the five minute ferry across the channel which you seem to have done here. The cost was also more than 35rmb I’m sure and you had to book a specific boat like a train, with a fixed time. If you missed it, you had to book again. I wonder why it was different for you.

    我去過鼓浪嶼超過10次,是一個很棒的地方,白天與晚上各有風情,好吃的食物,充滿歷史文化的街道與建築,也可以參觀博物館,真的很棒。

    I studied in the Xiamen Music School. Our old campus is right on Gulangyu! I strongly suggest avoiding the tourist crowd and wander deeper into the island. You'll find the local way of life and feel chill there!

    I have some Muslim friends in China, just like other guys living happily around. It's just, sometimes they have to tolerate some inconvenience in their daily life, especially food. It is really hard going out for a restaurant with them, I have to say.
