Well I nearly choked on my coffee. You can't be seriously promoting a manual technique on a device you charge an arm and a leg for "because hair curls itself". I have your complete set and I purchased additional long barrels in both sizes. Wet or damp, styling products or not - I can't get a wave in. I get a hot face, some frizz and zero satisfaction. As a curling styler, this thing sucks for 1a hair but the hot brush is awesome. The price tag is still unreasonable.
@@ashddd i have 1a hair, my ends will be straight no matter what. Only the real heat of an actual curling wand, followed by a pin curl set can do anything for my hair. Requested a chargeback, since Dyson wouldn't honour the money back guarantee.

I would make sure the curl is pretty cool, followed by hairspray. Then leaving the curls alone until after 10-20 minutes after you finish styling your hair before combing through (this way you ensure your hair is completely cooled off and set before touching)
1. Make sure hair is damp before styling with the airwrap 2. Put a holding product in your hair before you style (e.g. curl hold spray, light hold hairspray, holding mousse) 3. Use the cool shot feature to set the curl 4. After you curl each piece, do not touch/brush it (wait until you finish your hair, or even 20 mins after you finish) - allow the curls to fully set 5. After you finish a section, use a light hairspray or texture spray 6. Once the curls are set, use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to break up the waves - avoid a paddle/de-tangling brush as these will make the waves drop quicker 7. Sleep with your hair in a loose twisty bun to keep the waves for the next day
I use a leave in conditioner and "Badhead small talk" before i style and also a spray bottle with water and i spray little bit before i curling, it helped me to keep my curls up to 4 days. I did not used any hairspray just little bit of oil for the ends.

The key to waves vs curls is leaving the ends straight so I think the only way you could do that with any tool is to manually hold the ends out

I have the same exact issue. The learning curve is a steep one. Now they will not let me get a refund. It was a complete waste for me.

If you use salt spray first and mousse in your hair while it is damp it makes the curls last a lot longer

When you use the 20mm barrel the curls stay really long. The other barrels for my hair make waves or large curls. The 20 mm barrel is perfect for me!!
