    I know it’s mum season 2023 now and I’ve had a few questions about the diamond back chain. I’m going to see what size ribbons I currently have and will do several sizes in a separate video. I will get back as soon as I see what I have. 9/26/23.

    How do you store the mums after homecoming and year after year?

    • @RoseOatley
      @RoseOatley  5 лет назад +1

      Some girls like hanging them on their bedroom walls for display but If you want to keep them dust free, you can hang them on a metal hanger and place a plastic dry cleaning bag over them.
      I always bend the sides of a metal hanger all the way down. You can also bend the hanging part if needed. I slide the mum in through the Mum pin. Hope that make sense. Maybe I’ can do a video. 😊.

    Can you hot glue instead of staple?

    • @RoseOatley
      @RoseOatley  3 года назад

      Hi Casey! Hot glue will also work with most of these. There are times certain things take a little longer with the glue gun vs. the stapler. Also, depending on what you’re doing, always test one out. Sometimes, the glue will leave a wet spot on some ribbons. If those spots are hidden, then there shouldn’t be an issue. Thanks for watching!

    What do you use for the letters and numbers?

      Britt, you can find these letters and numbers in the scrapbooking section. They have adhesive in the back but I still use hot glue for reinforcement. Thanks for watching!

      What size are you using? They should all fit pretty snug. If not, it’s possible your ribbon may be too long.

      I usually did 5.5” long for a 5/8” wide ribbon with no issues. What type of ribbon are you using? I’m going to see what ribbons I currently have and try and do a separate tutorial for different widths.

    • @RoseOatley

      Glenda, most of the ribbons are ACETATE satin or POLYESTER satin. The other 2 are decorative. Glitter is polyester and silver is polypropylene/polyester.

    What is a homecoming mum used for? I've never heard of anything like this...🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @RoseOatley
      @RoseOatley  2 года назад

      The homecoming "mum" began as a sweet Texan token of affection given to a girl by her date in honor of the high school homecoming football game and surrounding events. Often in-season during the early fall months in the USA, specifically the state of Texas, chrysanthemums became the unofficial flower of high school homecoming events. A boy would accent a simple bloom with a few ribbons or adornments and give it to a date who would proudly wear the floral brooch to the homecoming game or dance. mums grew in popularity throughout the latter half of the 20th century, the tradition spread into neighboring states. as popularity grew, so did the average size of a mum. By the 1980s and '90s, mums became increasingly elaborate, and real chrysanthemum blooms were replaced with artificial flowers in varying shades, carefully selected to match school colors. Rather than attempt to pin the larger arrangements to their clothing, some young women wear their mums around their necks. Girls now make their own mums and wear them or gift them as well. Hope this helps! 😊. Thanks for watching!
