Hi RJ! It’s tough to give you an accurate answer. The size of your mum and supplies you want to use will play a big part in this along with where you purchase them.
Hello! You want to use a mum slightly bigger than your circle. A 4.5 -5” would be ideal. For the ribbon, you can use acetate satin or polyester satin. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
For graduations, I’m used to seeing graduation leis. If you’re not familiar with them you can google them for a pic. There’s all types. Some even made with money.
Hello! It’s just like making a cheer bow except you make it smaller using a 1.5” wide ribbon. Then instead of a hair tie, you use a key chain. The kind that has a little chain on it. You can find those on Amazon or Etsy in bulk. Here’s a link to one amzn.to/47wqlwF

Hi Audrey, The main ribbon to use is acetate. The other is clear printed chevron ribbon. You can also use satin acetate and others to accent your mum. Thanks for watching!
Hi Gwen! The homecoming "mum" began as a sweet Texan token of affection given to a girl by her date in honor of the high school homecoming football game and surrounding events. Often in-season during the early fall months in the USA, specifically the state of Texas, chrysanthemums became the unofficial flower of high school homecoming events. A boy would accent a simple bloom with a few ribbons or adornments and give it to a date who would proudly wear the floral brooch to the homecoming game or dance. mums grew in popularity throughout the latter half of the 20th century, the tradition spread into neighboring states. as popularity grew, so did the average size of a mum. By the 1980s and '90s, mums became increasingly elaborate, and real chrysanthemum blooms were replaced with artificial flowers in varying shades, carefully selected to match school colors. Rather than attempt to pin the larger arrangements to their clothing, some young women wear their mums around their necks. Girls now make their own mums and wear them or gift them as well. Hope this helps! 😊. Thanks for watching!

Hi RJ! It’s tough to give you an accurate answer. The size of your mum and supplies you want to use will play a big part in this along with where you purchase them.
What size of mum (flower) do you use with a 4" circle backing? And what's the best type of ribbon to use?
