I first saw this when it was telecast in 1969(March 15-thank you.)I already loved Peggy Lipton in Mod Squad-and I was pleased and surprised that she was a good singer-not great, but a lot better than others.
You have to love Sammy - the old Rat Pack member. Who else could say “where it’s at” with such conviction? And Ms. Lipton? Total doll. What an awesome babe.
Love those bedroom eyes. The epidemy of a hot 60`s naturally sexy blond. My first crush. If I could have been blessed to have danced with her then, I would've passed out.
I met them when The Mod Squad was on location near our house. We were friends for years. Peggy was always quiet, Clarence spoke now and then, Michael had the most outgoing personality of the three. The crew was amazing.
I forgot that Sammy played a priest on the show 'The Mod Squad' and it was a very memorable episode, but it's been 40-yrs so I can't recall the title or the actual story. Nice promo commercial at the end there too! I miss ABC's great shows back then. Thanks for the post!
It's interesting that in March 1968 the first televised interracial touch occurred between Harry Belafonte and Petula Clark in an emotional moment in a song in one of her Chrysler TV specials. Chrysler tried to censor it but Petula threatened to scuttle the entire show if they cut it. Then the first interractial kiss was between Uhura and Captain Kirk on Star Trek Nov 1968. And here we are, March 1969, and Sammy and Peggy are almost in each others laps!
She has a pretty voice. Dusty Springfield's version is the gold standard, though. "Dusty In Memphis" had just been released around this time and "Just A Little Lovin'" opens it. Tarentino picked another one from that album, " Son of a Preacher Man" for "Pulp Fiction."
It was love addled record producer Lou Adler, who told her she can sing, not Quincy Jones and she CAN sing, she's just a minor league-er. I have her record, and in her memoirs she said she was 'off key' the entire record, which isn't true. She's just a little behind the beat in the up tempo songs, and her voice isn't very strong, so it gets lost in the mix occasionally. Quincy told ' People Mag' around the mid seventies that her voice 'needed work.' I love beautiful Peggy Lipton deeply.
I read Peggys book where she said Sammy basically kidnapped her on his boat and made pretend she was his girlfriend, and she was freaking out because she didn't find him attractive at all. That was the first time she met Quincy jones her future husband as Sammy invited him on board as well, and some other people and they would party and when it was time to go to bed Sammy insisted she share the same bed with him but he would pass out from being wasted LOL. That was a great book "Breathing out" by Peggy Lipton. It's messed up how many mega stars she slept with. She had an affair with Paul McCartney who was a total prick, he would have sex then not call her for years, and then Elvis....She claims she was sleeping with Elvis one night and he suddenly started choking so she started hitting his back and he puked up all these pills and was crying for his momma. She said he couldn't f*ck, all he could do is kiss because the drugs f*cked him up too much.
Interesting, George. I also read about Elvis, in the late 60's? His crew would generally bring 3 teens home for him each day, at different times. No longer for sex. He enjoyed pillow fights more than pillow talk. They would lay in his bed, gossip, and play. I guess the drugs had done him in? And thanks for the Sammy stories. About what I expected of her 'good friend'!
Coincidence or not for a MOD SQUAD promo here,,,with its unforgettable tagline, as only Ernie Anderson could deliver it--"Cops...one white, one black. one blond". The show, if you can believe it, was based on a real L.A. police officer's experiences.
She wasn’t a singer... to be quite honest. But Aaron Spelling (who was in this audience at the time... I caught a glimpse of him and wife, Candy Spelling), certainly promoted and supported his actors.
I just notice that even back in the 60s if you look very very closely and find out that there were bios on the show. The white man who appears on stage was feeling and touching the two white women but the beautiful black woman sitting there he only danced around her and then he starts grabbing on to peggy. Now you tell me is that racist or what.
This encounter must have been what Peggy describe in her book "Breathing Out" chapter 31 when she stayed at the Waldorf and Sammy Davis Jr. came over later that night and had a sexual romp with her cause as she put it was "only time to pursue the sexual romp"... Peggy saying she had to stop seducing married men ie in this instance Sammy Davis Jr and her sex life was chaotic at the time of the Mod Squad.
This Song beat "Hey Jude" for the Grammy that year. I'm a Beatle's fan, but this is a very touching song. If Sammy and Peggy would have sung "Hey Jude" it would have probably sounded boring too. What makes a a good song sound exciting is the right artist performing it and how the song is produced. Peggy's voice is nice and smooth (middle of the road) and Sammy is a light jazzy crooner voicing. If they sung songs of the Rolling Stones, CCR, James Brown, Led Zeppelin, The Temptations, Buffalo Springfield, The Moody Blues, the Who, etc ... they would have probably would have sounded like a dud. And you were right they did make the song sound like a dud. :-) Oh yeah, even America, Bread and the Carpenters had voices that match their music style.
What the heck was that?? 😮 She better not quit her day job. 🤭🫤 Seriously tho, those were good times. Wish we could have shows like this today. And Peggy was beautiful.😊
Peggy Lipton; she was absolutely gorgeous… so talented, gone too soon 🌹❤️
Yes.
Peggy Lipton. RIP!!
🌹
Possibly the classiest guy who ever appeared on televison....
I first saw this when it was telecast in 1969(March 15-thank you.)I already loved Peggy Lipton in Mod Squad-and I was pleased and surprised that she was a good singer-not great, but a lot better than others.
Damn she's beautiful. Quincy was winning.
How awesome to come home to her everynight!
What a beautiful duet with Sammy… love this, takes me back to a happier carefree time; memories.
You have to love Sammy - the old Rat Pack member.
Who else could say “where it’s at” with such conviction?
And Ms. Lipton? Total doll. What an awesome babe.
She was so beautiful...stunning.
I love how Clarence Williams III got the punch line at the end, as Linc was by far the most serious character of "The Mod Squad".
Rest In Sleep Miss Peggy Lipton🌹 Wow I was exercising at my local Gym last week and I was watching the Mod Squad. On the Gym Television.
Loved how at the end of her song, Michael Cole and Clarence Williams came on as Pete and Linc and took her tonwork a case
Loved it!
Rashida Jones is the spitting image of her momma 💕
Peggy Lipton is much more gorgeous
No kadida her other daughter is her twin
@@triciaweldo6634yes❗.
Wow Peggy Lipton was absolutely stunning. RIP 🙏
Yes,she was.
sammi was on the mod squad three times, an episode in season 1, 2, and 3. and michael cole (pete) was gorgeous!!!
loved the theme song too!

That's funny, "The Mod Squad is where it's at" LOL
Damn she was hot and i like that silky smooth 60's song too
Simplicity and talent. Seems so far away, like never happened!Beautiful people inside out.💖
If I remember correctly, Peggy married Quincy Jones
That’s where Kidada and Rashida came from. Peggy and Quincy were married for 14 years.
Solid. I loved Peggy - and Sammy.
Like Peggy Lipton on the Mod Squad one of the best shows during the sixties
I forgot that Sammy played a priest on the show 'The Mod Squad' and it was a very memorable episode, but it's been 40-yrs so I can't recall the title or the actual story. Nice promo commercial at the end there too! I miss ABC's great shows back then. Thanks for the post!
RIP Beautiful Woman....

The male dancer has my gaydar going off the scale!
Peggy Lipton is still now and where it's at.
Wow, this is far out! Sammy Davis Jr. could do it all.
LIPTON - the pinnacle of female cool.
RIP 🙏 Clarence Williams III aka Linc Hayes.
Peggy Lipton what a beauty
She certainly was. My favorite actress .
She has a pretty voice. Dusty Springfield's version is the gold standard, though. "Dusty In Memphis" had just been released around this time and "Just A Little Lovin'" opens it. Tarentino picked another one from that album, " Son of a Preacher Man" for "Pulp Fiction."
I can’t imagine smoking while performing. Especially doing a close-up like this with smokers breath. 4:15.
Peggy Lipton RIP 😪😪😪
Talk about hot! Yeah I loved the mod squad -- lol Sammy is looking good as well. Loved Sammy! Catch me if you can I'm going back!
Am I the only person who realizes how good of a host Sammy was. How did he ever host a show when he couldn't read?
He had learn how to read when he was 18 in the Army. His Sergeant taught him. Then He began to teach himself more words.
This is everything 🙏🏼♥️✌🏼🌻🌻🕊
She was beautiful..... and Paul McCartney turned his back on her. That must have taken some doing.....
Her eyes tho!
The Age of Aquarius.

Que recuerdos nos dejó ella era tan bella y tenía una voz que era armoniosa y melodiosa .grasias
I see why Quincy wanted Peggy Lipton!! Gorgeous!!

I just started reading her book and wow 😳 I haven’t gotten to those parts yet but can’t wait to read about it.
I read Sidney Poitier's memoir and he basically said the same thing about Sammy and Peggy
Such a beauty! An OK singer. But thumbs up for knowing how to waltz. (to pivot, it's big step, small-small).
These hippy chicks are beautiful. Talk about he summer of love! sammy is so into her.
wow I sure do miss those music shows -- they sure had talent didn't they?!
Cops...one white, one black, one blonde... goosebumps everytime I hear it!

The way announcer Ernie Anderson used to promote,"The Looove Boat,"is forever in my mind. R.I.P.,Ernie.
What's wrong with her voice sounds good to me
She wasn’t a singer... to be quite honest. But Aaron Spelling (who was in this audience at the time... I caught a glimpse of him and wife, Candy Spelling), certainly promoted and supported his actors.
smoking on the set is one thing.... smoking while singing????
Tony Jones hey man, it was the 60s.
You see some of those looks in the audience??!!
"Just A Little Lovin"" is the remake of the late Dusty Springfield song. (flip 45 B side "Son Of A Preacher Man")
@flipwiggins i'd like to think my dancing is not that bad
@mitchcapone HE DID, READ HER AUTOBIO.. AS WELL AS PAUL MACARTNEY
3:47 - Man, is this an audience or an oil painting?
slavic beauty :)
The dance routine is kind of cheesy. When I was a kid I thought the male dancer was the guy from the Mod Squad!
Why did all the old commercials look so "drug trippy"?
That was the scene then, both good and bad.
Right On! (Chuckle!)
He was so enamored
Yes he was and I’m pretty sure they had a thing.
@@mammashaneSammy was so attractive and there was no man that had more talent.
HAHAHAHA man well said
No wonder so many kids took drugs during the 60's.
Lipton tea inc. Heiress
Actually, no. Different family. Father was an attorney, I think, mom was an artist. No relation to the Lipton tea family.
Catch all her episodes of The Mod Squad on your cable 📺 station, ASPIRE. Don't see the 🎥 version of it cause it sucks!
Rashida Jones’ mum.

@nickcage63 Yeah, right.

Comedy.
I bet Sammy really wanted to yell, " What the f&@k?!!" If this was made today he probably would have! (edited, of course)
Tiss th
She has a nice voice but was not given good material to sing. This is a boring song and I love 60's music but this song is a dud

Sad she married old cheating man Quincy.
She could act but she couldn't sing or dance
She had a nice voice. Didn't always care for her album selection of songs, but she did great on "(You make me feel like a ) Natural Woman."
Where was the the Me too Movement in 60's when Sammy Davis, Elvis Presley and Paul McCartney took turns on Miss Lipton like she was a human urinal?
What the heck was that?? 😮 She better not quit her day job. 🤭🫤
