  • An excerpt from the long abandoned 1988 Lloyd Webber musical "Circus". Not much is known about the project although it was believed to centre around a love triangle consisting of a clown who'd lost his smile, a lion tamer castrated during a show by his lions and the show's bearded lady. In a 1991 interview Lloyd Webber said, "We had it ready to go. Cast recording was done and we were well into rehearsals when the investors pulled out last minute. Apparently there's some other geezer with Lloyd Webber in his name and they got us confused and thought I was him which is why they backed us. Personally I think its all nonsense. Lloyd is my first name. Who has a first name as part of their last name? Sounds like bollocks to me"

I remember, this was too innovative a concept for the time.

The story goes that he’d actually written one to be produced after this, based on TS Eliot’s poems about investment banking. Apparently it was called “Twats”
