I'm from the UK & do not watch the Forecasts because they usually annoy Me so I Look on the Text Service & I Look out My Window at a Load of differing size Trees for the Wind & have Learned to Gauge it's Strength by doing that.

I forecast the weather for short periods using a barometer, an aneroid one.

Alan, very nice and common-sensical video. The crap that is shoveled at us by the bouffant-coiffed rip-and-readers on local or network TV sucks swamp water. Understanding weather is much better.
    Thanks!

If the rock smashes you in the teeth, seek immediate shelter.

I've been sailing in the North Channel (at the top of the Great Lakes). We pulled into the gas dock at Little Current and the thermometer read 44 C. It's been stinking hot here in Eastern Canada.
BTW: Overnight temps really dropped so sleeping down below wasn't too bad.

The meteorologists in the Washington,D.C area can predict the weather one or two days before the weather event . Outside of that clueless. Never did understand a seven day forecast. It's almost never right. I guess to give you some kind of idea. They've been calling for snow all week long until today. Now it's going to be rain. They knew it might do something, but not exactly what. I'll just look out my window.

Generally a great video, but rocks are hard to come by when you're off shore cruising.
