the hammer your dowels in method

I wasn’t really one for adding a centre dowel into my cakes when it was less than 3 tiers, but since doing it, I have realised my anxiety levels when travelling with a cake have improved significantly. Another reason why I would avoid it is because lining up the hole at the bottom with the cake and the dowel was stressful, especially when I missed haha! Hammering the heck out of the dowel to get it to pierce the cake board seems scary at first, but the more you do it, the more you realise it’s OK to trust the system- the dowel support system you put in place to protect the cake underneath from misshaping under the weight of the top tier- or in my instance, under the weight of the hammer banging. #cakedesign #fondantcake #twotier #cakedecorating #stackingcakes
