I was thinking yesterday about my food stamp interview where she asked me, "So, are you disabled?" I remember having a hard time getting the word, "Yes" out of my mouth. I must have been successfully gaslight in that way. After saying yes, it started becoming more real to me in the sense that I stopped doubting my reality.
I'm currently dealing with shame about asking for help/accommodations with emails, and, yeah, I think hearing you talk about it helps. Thank you for making this video, and also for providing captions!
Thank you, this helped me! I've only today realized i have a major problem with internalized ableism, you know, 'if i'm doing my best to live as if I didnt have the disability (it's really severe ADHD btw) THEN i'm not a bad person'). Quite literally something I wrote to myself few weeks ago.. As a sidenote, I must say the more I look the more I dig your style! It's a very pleasant composition of colours and really nice clothes too; love the hair! Thanks for doing the video ❤
Thank you this video. It has changed me ive been this for god knows how long. I was born with an extremely frustrating condition that is quite invisible. Your video has shown me something i never seen before in myself, ive done and said these things before. Ive put myself in the hospital because ive pushed myself to hard just to try to fit in, to feel normal. Ive recently begun to accept my disability and can start to talk about it. Now i can identify these things you've spoken about and hopefully with work i can begin to heal and become more than I've seen myself. Thank you so much you have given me a gift this day. You are a truly amazing person to start a dialog to make these things less hidden and more people can become aware of thes hard heavy issues that have fine unspoken for too long.

Human beings have an inherent worth granted them at birth. They don't need to do anything to be worthy

I love how refreshingly honest you are about internalized ableism!
Great video. This hits really close to home as I'm recovering from burnout from pushing myself too hard for too long.

What do you do when the environment around you is ableist?
👏💕👏
