    Well done to Willie and the SFA for having these open and honest conversions about these decisions. Yes it is annoying when your team is effected. But hopefully come time these guys will be getting less decisions wrong and we will have top quality refereeing.

  • @mjudec

    Disappointing misinformation about violent conduct. IFAB definition is "Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.
    In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible."
    Attempting to strike Schmeichel clearly falls within the definition of the first paragraph. The second paragraph is an annoyingly vague and confusing addition, which maybe explains the outcome, but the fact remains his actions were within the definition of violent conduct.
    Further, for the elbow to Idah: "A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play." It does not say "unless he didn't mean it." An elbow to the face is clearly dangerous, and from the footage the left arm has a fully flexed elbow flying back at speed into an area where an opponent's head is likely to be, the right arm (in contrast) is floating fairly harmlessly. The consensus that this is not serious foul play is putting the safety of players at risk.

    There seems to be long delays when booking players at times. I suspect VAR is telling the ref retrospectively, reviewing it to see if it warrants a booking then telling the ref. Can you ask Willie if VAR is re-refereeing the game?

  • @neilmckechnie6638
    @neilmckechnie6638 Месяц назад +2

    Willie Gollum's rational is based on his perspective of a Celtic-mind, which is clear from the Maeda handball goal which should have resulted in a booking.
    Sadly, the SFA has created this scandal of epic proportions itself and can only be remedied by using a Four Phase Polygraph Examination by an Expert, which cannot be Beaton (pardon the pun)

    I love the transparency of the analysis in all these RUclips videos.
    I’m not a United or Hibs fan but I really disagree with the Newell yellow, nevermind a red. Both players made a challenge which resulted in a 50/50. The contact/impact is a result of both player going in hard on the ball and Newells boot bouncing off the ball.
    I get the subjectiveness of it all but are we now in a place where a 50/50 on the ball is discouraged because of the resultant ambiguity of where the legs end up?

  • @oliveryoung6402
    @oliveryoung6402 2 месяца назад +4

    Issue with VAR summed up with the Maeda/O’Donnell incident. That is an extremely subjective decision that depends on what the VAR on the day thinks. I can’t see how you can get consistency with that.

    • @BaldandBeefy
      @BaldandBeefy 2 месяца назад +1

      Its not subjective at all though. The Motherwell player initates contact on Maeda, when he can't win the ball, and causes him to fall.

      Why does it astound you? It’s not like they are easy to understand! Listen to Collum going through the criteria of each incident… how can you expect normal fans to be fluent in ‘Referee’ when these guys are paid and highly trained to do it. 🤯
      Most fans know basic rules and hear a high level on rule changes as they are broadcast by pundits.
      The rules of the game now are way more in-depth, and arguably detrimental (!) to the game, than they used to be.

    Anyone else remember when shirt pulling was a foul, clear and simple? Referees now arguing that because there's so much cheating in today's football, refs should only pick and choose between which fouls to punish. Football has totally lost the plot, literally the only sport where cheating is not only allowed but encouraged: 'professional foul', 'tactical foul', 'game management', 'taking one for the team', 'dark arts' ... it's CHEATING just call it correctly.
    Referees take all the flak whereas in every match they're faced with 22 cheats to manage, with loads more cheats on the bench to come on ... and the managers, coaches and pundits not only enourage cheating but praise it. Football is rotting away from inside, just look where the 2034 World Cup is going to be held!
    Anyway, soon be Xmas.

    In regards to the United penalty at Hibs - surely a shirt pull is a conscious effort to impede the player, it was an obvious shirt pull so a foul? Maybe punishing these would stop shirt pulls from happening at all?
    It is also different from the Hibs claim in the same match where both players are at it. At the United penalty it is only the Hibs player holding.
