Everything amazing takes time, i’ll stay tuned to see your progress! ✨🫶
Thanks for the enthusiastic support! 🤩 Best of luck with your VW T3 project - it's an amazing journey. Feel free to ask any questions along the way! (Even if we're still in process of figuring everything out ourselves 😄)
Nice work it’s quite an undertaking. I thought of doing this for many years with my 10 top 1984 that I used to go camping in and about six years ago I bought a 86 westfalia just got done working on it pretty much restored it since I’m retired. Now I have a little more time. I was born in Rotterdam, lived in New Jersey since I was four years old long story lol.
Thank you so much! Your journey with the '86 Westfalia sounds incredible, and the fact that you've restored it after all these years is inspiring. Hopefully, it will take you on many trips, and you can fully enjoy it!
Hi, the hinges are from a westfalia. I believe the angle of the roof from a tin top vs a westfalia is different. A tin top is dome shaped were the Westfalia is flat.
True! There was a difference between the hinges of an aftermarket Westfalia Mosaik pop top and an ‘original’ Westfalia pop top. We thought we had bought the first as it came with the frame, but it seemed we had an original or mixed one. Luckily it was an easy fix in the end :)
Great Video! Very helpful as I´m doing this conversion soon too! I have all parts together but I cannot find the steel frame for the hole in the roof! Please, could u tell me where u found it? Thx, René
Glad that it’s helpful! 😄 For us the frame came with the roof we bought secondhand, and it definitely was used before given the state, so not newly created. Unfortunately, it took us well over a year to find this specific roof with the frame included, so I’m afraid I can’t be of much help in that :(. However, if you search for keywords like Westfalia, Mozaik, Riveting frame it might help you find one. There have been people that were able to recreate the frame in the past, but I don’t know anyone who’s currently doing that. You could try to look on forums like the samba or bulliforum for more information on that!
Thanks so much! I´ll keep on searching! I think there is one company in Poland who made a repro part, but its currently unavailable... Let's see where I end up! Have fun with your gorgeous van! See you on the road! René @@sunnyadvantures
@@PRESSYESMUSICI am also looking for the frame as well. I’m looking to instal my Westy pop top roof soon. I believe Gunzl use to sell them. But they don't seem to sell them at the moment. I would be interested in a frame If you find anyone that sells them. Regards Neil
@@neilp2375 Hey Neil! Bullimania in Poland sold me a frame. Took them 2 years but I think its on stock now. It fits pretty well. Already installed!
Good question! Those are really hard to find for a good price where we live. And we love that our van has an automatic transmission, which is also very uncommon here. The combination is even more rare! Plus, we love the color 💛. In short, we have a very specific vision for this van, which is why we don't mind putting in the work for it. :D
Superb video, what a fab bus you have! You took your time, you were very careful and precise. Congratulations! Looking forward to more videos. ❤
Thanks! We’re very happy with the progress so far. She’s gonna look great! Stay tuned for the next video 😊

Dankjewel Ton!

Hi, where did you find the template? That would be very helpful for my conversion thanks

Why not just buy a Westy?

That would have def been a scary thing cutting the roof.
It was! But the result was worth it :)
