I remember first hearing this song on cassette tape. It came with a read along storybook. That was years ago. It was purchased at a Zodys department store. Obviously, it's long gone now.
Can't tell you how many times I had this cassette tape out from the library. This was one of the key stories I grew up on, and this song is sewn to my soul ☺
That was more so a Reagan Era decision to inject moral lessons in children's programming than any concious decisions by the producers. Though, as a children's show, it probably would have had that anyway, but without the goofy fourth wall break explaining "today's lesson" as if it wasn't self-evident.
