@@fate8718 CY rode Jordan Montgomery to the world series, so maybe Gafford and PJ could have a similar impact. They definitely will be more competitive on the boards, and have more length and defensive versatility.
@@fate8718 mavs definitly adressed more urgent needs, that is definitly true. Like just in terms of sheer talent and what was given in trades, I would prefere knicks deadline, but when you acount for fit and teams needs, mavs might have actualy done better. Good point.

Yea, i spent the last 4 years watching the Wizards as i followed Gafford after Chicago traded him after his rookie year and the Wizards just never gave him the lobs he deserved... maybe 1 or 2 a game if he was lucky... other than that he was just a cleanup crew for bad shooters, yes that's you Kuzma and Poole. I'm so happy to leave DC for Dallas as i'm a ride or die team Gafford fan since college 😁

they gave us a D+ for this trade deadline but it’s lookin like a solid A+
The score is more because we have now traded or swapped every pick from 2027-2030. Kyrie is 31 and Luka could walk as a UFA in 2026. If we win a chip, the risk paid off. If not, it could be a painful future. Gafford plays a position we already have a starter at, and Washington was a big minus in Charlotte with bad shooting.
PJ Washington looks 6'8 out there and Gafford looks 7 foot.

Both guys are great, they are perfect fit for Mavs and Luka...
Luka is the key to it all! He's so amazing! He puts so much pressure on the defense with both his scoring and passing ability, it makes the game easier for his teammates, because he's the chess master. Dallas is getting closer, Luka just entering his prime.
Kyrie is so smooth too! No problem for him to play off of Luka! Having someone as good and as explosive on offense as Kyrie to pair with Luka...... it's tough to beat 4 out of 7.
His time playing with LeBron has made him super prepared to play off of Luka. Perfect fit fr

Absolutely going to be very dangerous but I still think we may be 1 year away from winning it all. Either way the future is insanely bright for this squad, everyone is in contract for a couple years too... Really wild. The only thing that would make this better is if we moved Hardaway, there's always next year though

Luka and Kyrie is the 1 to 2 Punch, Washington is the Left Hook while Gafford is the Right Cross and Lively is the Uppercut. That makes the Mavs Team a Knock Out Punch to their Opponent!!!
I feel that the Mavericks have one of the best starting lineups they have ever had when fully healthy. The biggest advantage they now have is depth. They can continuously keep the pressure on the opponent. If they are able to add Spencer Dinwiddy back in the mix, there is no telling how far they can go. I'm just happy that we have two active, athletic centers. The only other one we had was Chandler, and we know how that worked out for them. If you don't, just ask LeBron.
Now Dallas has size: Galford is nearly 7'0, Lively is 7'1, Luka and PJ are 6'8 with shoes, Maxi is 6'10, all rotation players, then DJJ is 6'6 and Tim, Exum and Green are 6'5 too, Kyrie is the small guy.
Yea the thing about PJ is he has a 7'3 wingspan, combined with his athleticism makes him play VERY LONG

I love PJ Washington on this team, sometimes I feel mav takes 3 which is low % shots instead of drive and get a high percentage shot which sometimes allow team to crawl back into the game PJ Washington love to drive for high % shot and is skill and strong enough to convert those opportunities into points. Imagine 15+ miss 3P, 5+ of those are converted into 2 points attempts, make 4 out of 5 that's 8 additional points easy, in a close game that is absolutely massive help.

@@jameschua3989 We all know that, Just saying Mav have a bad habit making bad shot selections on 3 if they could look for a better shot or higher percentage shot a lot of those bad shot could be converted into points. If you look at all the games they lost that is one of the problem and you can't afford that especially when your rebounding or defense is so poor or when you can't afford to miss a buckets to keep you in the game or turn things around. Jones could Drive but from what I see he is not as strong or as skill as PJ washington, Dante is good at that too, that is why the Mavs did so well when Exum was 100%. With Kyrie and Luka they will get chances to space floor and shoot 3's so that is not an issue.
@@dreb5776you’re absolutely right. Mavs rarely drove the ball outside of Luka & Kyrie before this trade. They were just a catch & shoot team this makes them much more unpredictable

This team, when healthy, are title contenders. Are they as deep as say the Celtics? Maybe not but with Kyrie and Luka, all that the mavs need are some extra size. Looks like they got that

Luka, Kyrie and Lively have only played 15 out of 52 games so far. Now we have everyone but Lively and Exum healthy. Plus Kleber and Green are fully healthy and back to their old selves.

PJ can PLAY BASKETBALL. The Mavs have had too many specialists that can’t score on 3 levels. Having Gafford and Lively on the court at all times is going to be incredible. LAC Phoenix and Den ain’t good in the west anymore

I gotta say, watching them play together for the first time and having this much natural chemistry is simply a hats-off to Nico Harrison. The way these two fit in at first glance and if they keep it consistent... At this point all the weight should fall on J Kidd's coaching abilities.
Dallas fixed a few of their main problems: Rim protection (especially with Livley out), offensive rebounding, perimeter defense and physical toughness. They thought Grant Williams would be an upgrade while actually he was a negative factor on and off the court. The Mavs will get that 6th seat

mavs looked transformed, legit scary good athletes all over the court now, super deep roster, Luka being a poor defender no longer really matters as much since there are elite long guys to help everywhere.
Dallas actually has some solid depth now only thing that can hold them back is Kyries health and defense.

They went 4-0 against bad teams, and then got throttled by the Nuggets. This is a little different though, because it's not the beginning of the season, the Thunder are contenders, and the Mavs weren't even at full strength.

Gafford's game is more reliable. And open Lobs are a lot more consistent than open 3's
PJ Washington remains to be seen but it seems like even if the shot's not falling he can at least play the paint and also defend well enough

I get it, but Gafford is a huge upgrade! PJ is a definite upgrade too, but the difference between him and Grant isn't nearly as pronounced as the gap between Gafford and Powell. However in the long run PJ can really help, because while PJ won't do it with great efficiency, he can score at all three levels, where Grant is only good for threes.
When you have the best player in the league, even mid upgrades can have a big impact.
