SA has become irrelevant among international investors: Magda Wierzycka

- South African business executives are said to be losing confidence in President Cyril Ramaphosa's ability to turn around the country's fortunes. Four years after Ramaphosa took over as the South African president in 2019, many voices from different constituencies and quarters of the society, including business, seem to be despondent at the rate of the country's disintegration. Economic stagnation, daily power outages, unemployment, rampant crime and lawlessness, infrastructure degeneration, and confusing foreign policy positions are dis-alienating investors from the country.
These are the findings attributed to the Bank Credit Analyst, also known as BCA Research, a company providing economic analysis and trend forecasts of the major financial markets.
We are now joined on Zoom by Sygnia founder and CEO Magda Wierzycka, who says South Africa has become irrelevant among international investors.

Doesn't matter which ANC member you select
The result is the same, definition of insanity
Sorry to say but all politicians dont care, it doesn't matter which side they from their only care about themselves

It's truly distressing that we, as citizens, have allowed the government to unleash its absolute wickedness, lawlessness & destruction without any reprisal.
We??

@@dannyarcher6370 Your understanding of governance is quite limited. It overarches beyond the vote. Whether you voted for them or not, they need to account to you as a tax paying citizen, which was my point.
@@onkgopotsekeobaka7680 My understanding of governance is fine, thank you. It's enough to understand that the taxpayers of South Africa are being held hostage by parasitic ANC voters.

I cried with relief the night CR won the presidency. I was wrong too. Blinded by desperation and misplaced hope. It is time we take to the streets again. The level of suffering is unlike South Africa ever experienced, to the point where it is costing life. This makes the ANC complicit to murder, as well as every citizen not taking any form of action.
YOU WISH FOR APARTHIED AGAIN ??? IS THAT IT ? 🕷
people actually believe the politicians will deliver and they never ever do
I voted for him. Royal disappointment.
I believe we all thought Cyril was the best candidate, turns out his nothing but a disappointment and the worst president we ever had, his like just sitting there and doing absolutely nothing.

The SABC is just another branch of the ANC
This was journalism!!! I don't expect to see a lot it in SA anymore, I'm not an escapist, but this was quite a generous helping of it, thank you Leanne!
The anc has always been the problem… big business has gifted us the anc for 30 years … they have in essence caused this disaster as much as the voters poor choice
How is big business to blame, it's the sheep that keep voting for the ANC.
Who must we vote for?
Vote for anything besides eff and anc

A truly quality piece of real journalism. Only the truth will set us free. This message need to get louder and travel wider at an increasing rate. We need to kick out the corrupt ANC.
i agree
Wow! When Zuma was still the President the NGO's, media, big business and people were all up in arms saying Zuma must go. Zuma later resigned and is still facing charges against him. Now things are worse than ever before and yet no one that I've mentioned has stood up against the injustices! CR17 was created by big business and now he is failing but big business is afraid of letting him go because of the uncertainty they have around the next leader.
As long as we continue like this we will end up as an anarchist State!
Thank you very much Jacob and Cyril. You have turned our beautiful country into a joke.
Herhaal ASB.
Can they arrange protest action, we will definitely support at this time around. We have to do something...
Protest? Do you think the ANC is afraid of that?
You can stop voting for them.

Total ANC failure.
Thank you Leanne...you Nailed this One Deep Down
And as for Magda she is one of the People who brought

This Magda shouldeff ck off back to Poland. Polish people are very racist even here in Scotland they are hated
Now they don't want to admit that they were wrong
We used to think the problem was Zuma , but now we know it's the ANC that's the problem. If they win the next election the country is gone. Everyone will pay the price. There is only one way to fix this and that's to make sure the ANC are not part of a coalition and not in power.
The illicit trade made these cadres super rich and the gold; rhino and dollars leave SA and stashed in Dubai 👺 they can't even keep the water clean. People are dying😭

I hope everyone is enjoying this "democracy" ... where we can all suffer equally ne. History doesn't lie much, and we are seeing it in action ... AGAIN
The rich not suffering
Your comment implies that you miss the time when you were treated as superior to others, but you are confused as to why other people don't think of the time as fondly as you do.
It also implies that the only way we can be efficient and economical as a country is by discriminating against the majority of the population.
The zuma hating is a sin, and you suffer for hating an innocent man, Do you remember Dr D Zuma voting on phala phala
that's commienism for you...
Much worse than confusing foreign policy positions SA is taking an outright dangerous position… neutrality is fine but we have painted a target on our backs with recent developments.
Correct, but most people think West vs Russia, when it is clear, Russia provides fokoro, but an ideology that does not go anywhere.
What happend to "if Ramaphosa resign investors will run away", mainstream media protecting Cyril, prolonging this deterioration by him!
That is still true. Problem is that SA and the West are like conjoined twins
SA basically crashing and burning. Total ANC failure.
They must get onto the streets again with Ramaphosa and ANC must fall protests
In ZIMBABWE we also feel helpless and tired. SA was our hope for Africa. The future is bleak . Rich will get richer, poor will get poorer. Thank you ANC and ZANU.
I feel you brother! In SA we have a problem of millions of people who treat “voting” like supporting a football club. There’s lack of voter education and that’s deliberate!
Respect for saying the words out aloud, "I was wrong...". And thank you for being a vocal activist against the clearly African National Corruption
Fair enough but she’s now proven herself to be a very poor judge of character. I for one knew Cyril was a flop based purely on the organization he belongs to and the fact he had been quiet the entire Zuma looting era
It was only the people of Cape Town that protested against Zuma, the rest of SA supports the ANC & I understand historically why…but 30 years later it’s time to make history again
While the beating around the bush goes on in South Africa our country goes down the drain.... Can you imagine the enormous potential of this country in the right hands, what a paradise it would be? A South Africans paradise for all people and races, super hospitals, police, services, housing, jobs, success, and prosperity. We could beat the West with our vast labor force and massive land and climate. We could all be happy and well-fed.

Wow Magda is brilliant, a TRUE leader!
The ANC don't have any credible person to replace Ramaphosa. The ANC's focus is to safe themselve not South Africa.
We need an all African political party which includes all South Africans. A party which is not East or West Sided, a party which have South Africa interest at heart.

First step to save SA is to move away from the past and look into the future. SA has many potentials from different race. "Don't vote for racial party."
With BBBEE and EWC policies, what do you expect? Foreign investment will flood into an independent Western Cape though.
The anc and rama poesa never got rid of zuma, that just mothballed him so that they could carry on stealing

The South African situation has pretty much been talked to death. At what point will the talk stop and action be taken. I fear not in my lifetime anyway.
Ian you people are funny you know, you now want action and stop talking 🙄🤔 just a month or so, MALEMA so it coming and warned all Safricans to go to the streets, what did you do? You only know what traitors look like after the fact. But nobody should shed a tear after being warned for 30 years.
Leanne pls join EFF . Your journalism is on another level, questions you ask are relevant and powerful . Keep it up.❤
I don't blame foreign investors for pulling out, we ourselves as South African citizens are scared of investing our money (whatever little we have left) into banks and policies or businesses etc. Heck, even Ramaphosa and his ministers are scared of losing all the money they steal daily and therefore were hiding it under mattresses and in JoJo tanks instead of investing it in banks. What hope do we have if They don't have hope in our system 😂
True
By foreign investors you mean racist white supremacists that left the country when Mandela became president...stop making up excuses they are leaving because you/they hate black people in power and their policies.
Haa, Mishelle also in JOJO tanks 🤭how dare on earth can these people be so insatiable, Hammanskraal we don't have roads, sewerage system, RDP HOUSES, Clean water, other areas no electricity, no enough clinics, no enough schools, our youth are loitering in the streets bcs unemployment is rampant, in fact we're living in shambles situations, we have Leaders that we love very much but they care very less about us.
I don't blame you for being scared to invest, look at what Steinhof did to investors!
Companies must be mad to invest in ZA
I focus on emerging markets and South Africa hardly gets a mention these days.
This government taking us back to the bush.
If you cant beat them , join them.
it is sad that even with all these problems the same people say we are the best in Africa?
South Africa should trade with everyone. This feeble mindset of looking for investment only in the EU must come to an end.
It’s difficult to trade with other countries if you unreliable. I say unreliable in the context of energy. Supply contracts are complex and global competition is high. South Africa doesn’t have anything that other countries can’t get elsewhere.
This makes it even more bizarre that they chose to portrait an image that they aligned with Putin. Neutral is one thing, but all the other neutrals are silent.
The elections couldn't come sooner, I hope when people make that cross they think about their children's future, and that they make a well informed decision. It's not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. Yes we might not agree on many things but we all have something in common we all want a better life and if we can't give it to ourselves we can give it to our kids, our grandchildren. It's a pitty we are not blessed with leaders who walk the talk
They'll vote for the ANC again

I believe that's the plan, get the white people to leave, to get black people into economic power, but it will be too late to build it up again, it's all politically motivated
We are still under sanctions. They are self emposed. We have legislation that blocks international investment.
Oh my gosh thank you so much Leanne for asking if she regrets the even worse dispensation she helped bring about just for selfish reasons. I love you for that!!!🥰
It's just sad that the enablers can just pack up and leave without being held accountable, something to meditate about.
@@Leah-ju8ht I appreciate the assumptions thank you Leah, but yes I could well apprehend where the desire to remove President Zuma emanated from and it wasn't a tumultuous benevolent onset of philanthropy but well executed subterfuge to weaken the entire continent much like the Gaddafi execution, however, I should refrain from continental context as I doubt you could parse that complexity. The issue here is that all of Africa and by this I don't mean those who wish to exploit African resources by formenting stability, not just myself, could see that the campaign was not in the best interests of South Africa, South Africans nor Africans in general.
Honestly in Magda's case it wasn't selfishness for selfish reasons. she simply didn't understand the game of WMC ulterior motives like most of us myself included, she genuinely cares about the state of current crises. Hooray...Hah. He is so typical of an African president. I doubt the ANC could find anyone better to mess things up... Hahaa...
It sounds like she is implying that the previous president did things better. I wonder why we as South Africans cant move forward and look for a better future. We are always looking in the past, thinking the past was better when we know it wasn't. Rather, say, "This is not working, lets do better".
