    It was great when I was there 76-79. This is about 12 levels up from then. Spent MANY hours in the shade of those palms along the beach.

    I stayed here in April 2011. What an amazing Hotel and resort. We ate almost all our meals at the restaurant and buffet. My Father is retired Navy

    This video that you made is the most informative one I have ever seen but, You don’t have to be 100% disabled in order to stay there, I am at a full 80% compensation rating but at 120% on paper (V A math...lol), Again it’s a well done video and I sincerely thank You for it-I was scheduled to be there for the first time this past December for ceremonies at Pearl but decided against it when I found out that it was only going to be a virtual ceremony...

    I’ll be staying there at end of May. I was wondering is there like a air conditioner thing in rooms that make noise at night I like those. also I was wondering can I visit Disney aulani resort when I’m there or no. can I eat lunch or dinner there.

    • @asgoodasitgets1
      @asgoodasitgets1  3 года назад

      Hello Angela, Thank you for your comment! Each room is individually climate controlled and has the standard low and high fan settings along with on or auto. The balcony door does have a sensor on it that will disable the HVAC when opened (for obvious reasons), but as long as the door is closed, the fan will run as long as you please. The volume (sound) of the fan is not loud, so if you require white noise or "AC fan noise" during your sleep, I HIGHLY suggest using either an app on your phone or (what I do most of the time) use a youtube video with a dark screen and white noise. As far as Disney, we did not visit the resort during our last time so please check with the resort for more information. Almost every restaurant was open and allowed for in-house seating, the state requires contact tracing EVERYWHERE, so do not be shocked to give your name and phone number every time you go to eat. ENJOY and MAHALO!!

    Thanks! Is the Barefoot Bar open? And if not--is there a place to get a Mai Tai elsewhere?

    • @asgoodasitgets1
      @asgoodasitgets1  3 года назад +1

      Hello, Unfortunately the Barefoot Bar is closed at this time. The Shorebird Lounge closes prior to COVID. The best place for a Man Tai and relaxing is the Royal Hawaiian May Tai Bar just up Kalakaua. This has been one of the best places for quite a number of years now. Duke's at the Outrigger Waikiki is also a delightful location (make a reservation). The Monkeypod Kitchen is another good place. I hope the helps, ENJOY and Mahalo!

    Can the general public use the restaurants/bar or do you have to be a guest?

    • @asgoodasitgets1
      @asgoodasitgets1  2 года назад

      Yes, the barefoot bar hut and snack bars are open to the public. The pool area and restaurants in the hotel are only for registered guests and DOD ID card holders. Last time we were there, there were employees checking for room keys and/or ID cards for access. Thanks for your comment!

    Hey "As good as it gets" , I am staying in August 2021......what is the rental car situation there? Understand the rental car table is no longer in Hale Koa, but there is one down the street in another hotel. We rented one from there and will walk down and get it I guess. I am retired USAF, retired in 2012 after 26 year career.

    • @asgoodasitgets1
      @asgoodasitgets1  3 года назад

      Thank you for your service! Correct, the rental car counter is not in operation (when we were there). We used Enterprise (airport location) as it was the same rate as downtown. The rates were VERY low and could not pass it up. There are a few rental car locations around Waikiki and metro Honolulu to sleet from. There was PLENTY of parking in the garage soon need to worry. Friendly reminder that parking in Waikiki and downtown HNL is similar to any downtown area (VERY LIMITED), but good around the island. They tightened the barriers at the Bellows gate and the bridge is now 1-way (no big deal). Fuel was the lowest price at Costco (Iwilei) and on PHH near the BIG NEX. Enjoy your time in HNL and thank you for your comment!

      @@asgoodasitgets1 hey thanks so much. One more question, are the laundry rooms coin operated or credit card? I have seen both answers on various sites....

    • @asgoodasitgets1
      @asgoodasitgets1  3 года назад

      @@okedoke1234 The Hale Koa has transitioned to electronic payment for laundry rooms. The machines are networked to a single Point of Sale (POS) box in each laundry room. I was able to use my NFC reader of my iPhone and use Apple Pay! This was true of the detergent machine also! The POS (yes, they are actually called that) box does have a card slot for payment also. Enjoy and MAHALO!

    The only bummer is that they don’t have family suites like Shades of Green. We would have to get two rooms with 4 kiddos.

    • @asgoodasitgets1
      @asgoodasitgets1  2 года назад +1

      You are not the only one who would love to see this! In the past we have booked two rooms that are adjoining. We book the Maile tower with the corner Deluxe Ocean Front since they have one common access door for the two on each side of the elevator or there are several Ocean View Rooms that have access doors to the other. Yes, it is not on Waikiki, but we have stayed on Bellows AFS in the old family housing and it was awesome! Maybe a consideration for a family holiday? They do book fast, but the Military-only access is wonderful and quiet. Amazing beaches also right out the door! Thanks for watching!

    • @asgoodasitgets1
      @asgoodasitgets1  3 года назад +2

      Absolutely! We rented a vehicle without any issues and plenty of parking in the garage. Just have to deal with the normal Honolulu traffic. Enterprise rent a car (and all) require your Hawaii safe travel QR code. ENJOY!

    Never seen Waikiki that dead before COVID. What’s the best time of year to visit?

    • @asgoodasitgets1
      @asgoodasitgets1  3 года назад

      A few months ago, HI changed their entry procedures and now more people are visiting the islands. Within the past 6 months, Maui is the island of choice for "mainlanders" to visit. The best time of the year to visit the islands is during the Spring and Summer due to the lower amount of rainfall and higher temperatures. Although tourist season is not during the winter, it is muscles crowded and prices are lower. You will also see more rain during this season also. The mountains on Oahu are a microclimate rainforest and almost always covered in clouds and wet and also the east side of the Big Island versus the west side (Kona) that sees little rain due to weather currents. Mahalo and Aloha!

      THE BEST TIME TO VISIT HAWAII IS SEPTEMBER OR OCTOBER, LESS CROWDED AND THE AIR PRICES ARE CHEAPER, ENJOY.

      Hello Felicia, The coffee Shop was open from 0600-1400 daily. There is seating available on the same level next to the coffee shop down the walkway toward the adult pool elevator. We LOVED this trip since there was a fraction of guests and the beach was wide open. Enjoy!
