This will also provide actual value to having multiple characters built that fill the same role. Don't need to think so much about who's best out of Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Lyney, and Arlecchino for example when you will now actually end up substituting them with each other in this mode anyway
yeah I actually think this is a clever way of still making use of powercrept characters. Idk why so many people hate it. It lets you use friend's characters, has buffs and debuffs to bridge the gap in terms of difficulty, tests your knowledge of character synergy and avoids players from bruteforcing everything. Its why I dont understand tectone's take. He says you cant brute force this like its somehow a negative, and not being able to use all characters. This will now force people to use different team comps aside from just leaning in to vape, or any variation of dendro team all the time.

Just keep the usual build, there is no need to optimise everything perfectly for a specific encounter. I see this new game mode as an incentive to not change build on anyone and have all the characters ready to fight at any time. I’ll also stop using MH on any character who can’t make of use of it independently, just so I can have them ready at all times. It will be much less stressful this way.
Thank god someone finally sees the real point of this mode! I've seen so many content creators equating it to the Abyss, except you can't play the characters you want. Like you said, man, it's about encouraging diversity and creativity with your builds and teams.

It depends on the DPS thresholds: if they’re low enough, an unsupported Itto would clear buff-less (because if you built a character as a “main” for Abyss, they’re probably so invested they have 25k raw damage on their own, which would clear a level 90 boss). There’s also the possibility of gimmicks like Viridescent Venerer + Prototype Amber + ER sands “healer support” wanderer.
You dont play Overload for the reaction dmg you only play it for the raw buffs from Chev lmao why do you think her buffs have nothing to do with the reaction itself and its more about the characters personal dmg?
The thing that i hate the most for this game mode Is how It highlights how much bad Is the artifact equipping system. Because obviusly some stats in the theatre suddenly became more importante ( i m looking at Er in particular) and to adjust that Is gonna be boring switching through so many menus
I just had that realization after this video. Im still looking forward to this mode overall but that is going to be a real pain. I can think of several characters on my account that only have enough ER for the specific teams I play them in. Not to mention anyone who was relying on Furina to proc their MH artifact set or a weapon like cashflow for wanderer.
@@jarrenraves Yes exactly, also the majority of the characters doesn t have a single playstile and switching from abyss to theatre we must adjust builds. For example in the abyss i can play melt ganyu because thanks to my team i can reliably mantain pyro on the enemy, but in theatre i can t do that and so if i want play ganyu i Better have to switch my whole artifact setup to a more generic cryo DMG build. And this Is really annoying also because if i want play abyss shortly After i have to do the switch again.
@@stefymon1 Looking at the roster again, I can already tell my raiden and xianyun will need rebuilding entirely for this particalur iteration of the mode. That's going to be a hassle considering I'm pretty sure Raiden's best alternative weapons are currently on Arlecchino and Xianling. Going to have to play me some musical chairs. I dont particularly mind going through that once a month, but having actual gear loadouts is probably going to be essential to make the mode in any way replayable for me.
It might be a hot take but best thing about imaginarium theater is the elemental restrictions why? Because we have finnaly a reason to not use the same 2 teams and also getting more main DPS into the account (since you can only use same character twice) i think this opens up a good underrated comps or different playstyles outside of just using hyperbloom, bennett-xiangling, neuvilette etc.
I never understand why people who are either new players or accounts that had a vertically invested teams of 8 units complaining about this endgame mode. Like the mode gives you an option to borrow units from your in-game friends or use the trial characters. If that is not enough to clear, build your character with mid stats and weapons and then come back cus the mode also gives you a bunch of buff cards while playing. It is an endgame for a reason yk?
I want to vertically invest my favourite characters as a f2p XD and they're hydros (Yelan, furina, Nilou) this game mode cripples the way I want to spend my primos XD I hope it's not all bad. I might need to get Navia or Chiori just in case (I already was but not until their third reruns because I wanna go for natlan units first)...not exactly happy with the additional pressure
Because people misunderstand the point,its a very endgame mode,it's something only players who can 36* the abyss should focus on really,so obviously they'll have a bunch of built units they can use in the theater
This is something that wasn't stated outright in the stream (or the hoyolab guide for that matter). But you can see at 5:10 that each difficulty has a requirement to slot at least x number of units to even start the challenge. You're provided only 6 Trial characters and can take no more than 1 friend support. You have to have an additional 12 (or 11 if you have a useful friend), at least lvl 70 characters that don't overlap with the starting 6 trial characters to be able to even attempt a full clear, otherwise you're straight up blocked from challenging it. Someone with a 2+ years account should most likely have rolled on enough banners to have a suitable pool; and even if they didn't have all those at requirement lvl, someone who didn't invest horizontally should have a stockpile of exp and mora in exchange. With max. 2 month time (1 july startdate + 1 month duration of the theater itself) it is very reasonable to build up to the min. requirements for most veteran players. Someone who is at the last step before full starring abyss however will have an extremely hard time with this because they're gonna be spread thin between a mode that urges for half-way horizontal Investment and one that urges for a smaller selection of vertical investment. As TGS pointed out the modes prefer different units.
Support 4*s everyone should have ideally built for the first Imaginarium Theater: - Bennett - Fischl - Kuki Shinobu - Sucrose - Xiangling Niche 4*s (ideally C6 but depends) you should build for your selected DPS: - Chevreuse - Faruzan - Kujou Sara And finally these are not must-build supports, but if you have them at C6 they could prove useful: - Dori - Thoma - Lynette (but you should prioritize Sucrose)
For me, this is better than classic Abyss. It's way more creative especially in character draft. I hope I can beat the hard mode, but I'm not sure because I don't have many characters. Is there anyone that can borrowed me Alhaitham? 😂
this is gonna make characters with less er requirements gonna be used more i think, since a lot of character won't be paired with their ideal battery most of the time xiao xiangling beidou are gonna feel pretty bad without like 300% er
@@LoveYourself-318 idk what you think my comment means but because of the random nature of the game mode, pairs like "bennett/xiangling" "fischl/beidou" "xiao/faruzan" are unlikely to happen, which means that these units that need battery will not be performing at their full capacity
@@LoveYourself-318 Yes you misread you literally just proved his point, if you dont play Xiangling with Bennett youre gonna need like 300% ER on XL because hes a great battery for her. And just because two characters have the same element it doesnt mean they can battery each other, for example, Xiangling and Thoma cant really battery each other because both have long CD of their E and dont produce a lot of particles themselves. This is the same as Beidou and Lisa for example, which both want Fischl as their ideal battery.
@@LoveYourself-318But you can't depend on RNG to give you both the energy dependent character and their elemental battery. So you can get Xiangling first and have to wait after 3 stages to finally get Bennett. Thus, energy head characters will struggle since they would have to depend on initially having them in your team lineup when you basically start off with the opening cast as your roster.
I built a lot of different characters. I usually only farm artifacts until i feel like i dont make any significant progress. Its the perfect mode for me. I am already hyped.
I like how, instead of asking how good your characters are built, it asks instead how good can you perform with limited resources. It tests your agility to use unconventional teams and your knowledge of team building. As far as I am concerned, this is very interesting.
Me with my grand total of 15 maxed out characters. I’m not gonna have enough characters of each type to clear lmao. Gonna have to do a lot of solo-ing. Gonna be using my friends’ neuvillettes.
Excited for this new game mode. For me it incentivises building different characters, and experimenting with different builds and teams much more than the abyss.
Unironically the best thing about this new endgame is the incentive to go back and work on forgotten, but otherwise servicable units. I'm thinking I'll want to build Yanfei, Gaming, Sara, hell maybe even Razor, before the mode releases!
The only thing that bothers me, is the blessing that gives 20% additional hp, def and atk, even tho it's cool, I wanna see how much damage my character actually does, I just wish there was an option to disable it outside the imaginarium theater, but I haven't seen anything mentioning a disabling option
Finally! I've been doing no-repeated-character runs of Abyss to give myself a reason to use all my built characters, so I'm super excited for this. Also glad that WuWa and Genshin are giving each other some healthy competition. I don't think it's a coincidence that more endgame content was announced around the same time as WuWa's launch.
We are trading less abyss for the exact same "get a star in time limit" stuff but with even more restrictions. Big meh, extremely disappointing that nearly 4 years lead to only this.
It's not the same. There is no time limit for primogems. The stars are traded for emotes, guys, not for peimogems. You simply need to clear 8 acts. This game mode is legitimately quantity over quality unlike Abyss' quality over quantity. Quality of teams mattermore than quantity in abyss as well as the quality of your abyss runs determining the reward you get while Theater is about "the more, the merrier" the more acts you just clear, no matter how long it takes, the more rewards you get. It's like how Hoyo's story writing is paid per word rather than by salary but with a condition for quality writing. Abyss more focuses on the quality of your teams,, even if it is less.
I feel like this new endgame content forces you to think not only about the teams, but also what characters to bring, as well as letting people be creative with the situation at hand
In my opinion, getting trial characters in an end game mode doesn't make any sense to me. It makes it feel like just another limited event as opposed to an actual end game mode. Especially the part where you can use a friend's character. I'll be happy if I'm wrong though.
Honestly...I think the mode looks fun. It reminds me of all those events that force you to stick with the trial characters they give you and you have to figure out how to use them effectively because you can only use them twice and then they are gone.
I'm actually REALLY excited for this new mode! I have a tendency to build characters once, until they're decent, then forget about them until their builds start showing too many cracks to keep kicking the can down the road (I have Kaeya on BS with 18 percent crit rate, and half the time I use him on Melt teams because you can't Freeze bosses. I have yet to fix it, because I don't really need to. He functions just fine without being able to crit! And also my traveler is on 2pc guilded 2pc emblem instead of 4pc guilded because i wasn't going to spend the next month farming to get the poor guy ER substats bc i was too stubborn to drop the EM sands. He uses that same build as geo traveler too btw, just a glorified crystallize bot lmao) The only exception is Venti, who's my main, and who I will devote all my resources to. Am I salty that his ratio is still only 77:131? Yes, but he has 2195 ATK, so he's doing fine. In fact, two of the best DPS builds on my entire account are Tighnari (1421 ATK, 367 EM, 52:144) and Lisa (1324 ATK, 112 EM, 65:142) which goes to show that my standards are definitely NOT high enough to properly clear the abyss (i've only ever cleared twice, and the highest amount of stars i've gotten was 29. I usually only get 26). It doesn't help that my best builds are for healers (Baizhu, Kokomi, Mika, Jean, Layla (shielder lol)), so I can definitely survive anything you throw at me, but I can't actually kill anything within the time limit, especially if I want stars. The abyss just isn't fun for me because the time limit means I rarely actually manage to fight the fun enemies because the annoyingly tanky basic ones are soaking up all my dps and taking up too much time. If you said I could only get the rewards in the first 3 minutes, fine, but to make a hard 10 minute time limit? Well now I always time out because my account is focused on survivability instead of DPS. From what I can tell, this mode doesn't actually have a time limit, only a reward for clearing faster, which is just fine by me! I don't care much about the rewards, I just want to fight things without timing out! So this kind of game mode, that's easier but values a lot of decently built characters rather than a few really well built ones? Right up my alley! Especially since I ALREADY chop up my intended teams to counter the enemies in the abyss (i should've brought sunfire to floor 12, maybe I would've gotten a star, but nooo, i wanted bennett on side two for the inquitious baptist), so I'm used to not bringing my intended "optimal" teams! (Keqing, Chongyun, Bennett, Kazuha and Venti, Xingqiu, Beidou, Mika for Floor 11, anyone?) I'm just glad this first round isn't Geo, because I haven't built Noelle, Gorou, or Ningguang yet, so I'd only have Traveler lol. In fact, I have JUST enough characters for this round! The hardest mode needs 18 characters, which I believe counts the 6 that they force upon you, so, in reality, 12. Hoyo stole my faruzan (but my build is probably better anyway, they'll probably put her on emblem and i've got her on noblesse), but I've also got Venti, Kazuha, Jean, and Traveler for Anemo (4), Bennett and Yanfei for Pyro (6), Keqing, Beidou, Fischl, and Lisa for electro (10), alongside a wonderful Baizhu (11), and I can steal a Xiao, Heizou, Sayu, Sucrose, Lynette, Razor, Dori, Kuki, Xiangling, Amber, Thoma, Xinyan, or Gaming from a friend! (12) So, yeah! Really excited, and I hope it's as fun as it looks! I just, uh, need to farm talent domains for Yanfei first. Yanfei's at 2/2/4 rn... i completely forgot to build her talents lol, no wonder she only hits 2k CAs
As a brain-empty story and exploration enjoyer with my F2P account, this mode sounds so complex and exhausting. Do I need the F2P Primogems? Yes. Will I play this mode to get the F2P Primogems? Yes. Will I enjoy playing this mode? Absolutely not.
Every thing in this game mode looks nice with Special Boons, Stage Effects, Rewards and how it looks BUT WHY THE FUCK WOULD THEY FLOP GAMEPLAY LIKE THAT, Why did they think forcing players to build more character (IF they have them) which they don't enjoy and not only that but from a pool of 3 elements only out of 7, 6 of characters you HAVE TO PLAY and after all that you can't even select some of the characters you want directly WTF. It better stay easy because after I have been forced to build/roll characters that I don't enjoy only for them to suck because they aren't build to clear main abyss THEN FUCK THAT.

It seems inspired to one of my most disliked events. I’m not happy to see that thing becoming a permanent game mode. Genshin is a game designed around teams of 4 characters and the vast majority of characters are designed to feel good to play when they are in the right full teams, with good synergies going on and no downtime. This new game mode will make playing good teams really tedious and often not even possible. I think it is a nice idea for a game mode, but for some other game, not Genshin.
Think I’m just gonna run into a scenario where I have characters I want to use but since there is so much artifact sharing between characters, i’m gonna find myself forced to use the trial character and I don’t know how I feel about that.
You’d be surprised how usable some units are with less than perfect artifacts. Fill-in pieces are better than none And if worse comes to worst, the trial units will be serviceable
Also who knows if you have the possibility to not use 4 characters for stage... A solo character like wrio could be a nice choice to clear a easy floor without using 4 characters
I like comments:"Now I have a RESON to try out different teams". What you could not do it on your own volition? Hoyo could have came up with less hammerfisted way of enforcing fomo. Certain setups will be absolutely atrocious to play. Some niches are not even filled properly.
Since Arlecchino and Clorinde are in the opening 6 which you MUST choose either trial or your own, does that mean that on the next character selection screen you won't be able to set/use them in the friend slot? Or can the friend slot "overwrite" your previous selection?
So basically they create an endgame similar to rougelike but with extra handicap. The extra handicap are your character pool and build. I'm relatively new to Genshin so this mode can be more challenging for people like me who still have small pool of Characters and not yet fully build that many powerful 4 stars beside the power 5.
Just a tip: once you hit ar 55, you will be able to brows for players between 55 and 60 and add them to your friend list. You dont have to talk to them and a friend request cost nothing :) if you’re in na, this is my IUD: 605298148
I mean, they are just proposing again the same lame event we had a couple of months back (Triumphant Frenzy or whatever it was called) with minor changes here and there under the "endgame content" mask. Abyss needs a refresh, but this pretty bad game mode certainly ain't it.
“minor changes” is doing a lot of work for you. That event had potential bc it introduces strategizing which units to bring to navigate the “vigor” feature. Now that they removed the event gimmick and added certain blockers, this will test your synergy knowledge and adaptability moreso than abyss ever will imo
You'd need minimum 10 characters other than the opening cast if you have any of the special guest characters. You'd need just 14 for normal mode so you should just work your way up. Good news is that build quality doesn't have to be great.

25k is small for Itto. I can deal at least 60k per half a second damage with him but Gorou has to be in the team.

Agreed. If you use your own version of the trial characters, they will get buffs which can be used in the spiral abyss.
I never understand why people who are either new players or accounts that had a vertically invested teams of 8 units complaining about this endgame mode. Like the mode gives you an option to borrow units from your in-game friends or use the trial characters. If that is not enough to clear, build your character with mid stats and weapons and then come back cus the mode also gives you a bunch of buff cards while playing. It is an endgame for a reason yk?
I want to vertically invest my favourite characters as a f2p XD and they're hydros (Yelan, furina, Nilou) this game mode cripples the way I want to spend my primos XD I hope it's not all bad. I might need to get Navia or Chiori just in case (I already was but not until their third reruns because I wanna go for natlan units first)...not exactly happy with the additional pressure
Because people misunderstand the point,its a very endgame mode,it's something only players who can 36* the abyss should focus on really,so obviously they'll have a bunch of built units they can use in the theater

This is something that wasn't stated outright in the stream (or the hoyolab guide for that matter). But you can see at 5:10 that each difficulty has a requirement to slot at least x number of units to even start the challenge.
You're provided only 6 Trial characters and can take no more than 1 friend support.
You have to have an additional 12 (or 11 if you have a useful friend), at least lvl 70 characters that don't overlap with the starting 6 trial characters to be able to even attempt a full clear, otherwise you're straight up blocked from challenging it.
Someone with a 2+ years account should most likely have rolled on enough banners to have a suitable pool; and even if they didn't have all those at requirement lvl, someone who didn't invest horizontally should have a stockpile of exp and mora in exchange. With max. 2 month time (1 july startdate + 1 month duration of the theater itself) it is very reasonable to build up to the min. requirements for most veteran players.
Someone who is at the last step before full starring abyss however will have an extremely hard time with this because they're gonna be spread thin between a mode that urges for half-way horizontal Investment and one that urges for a smaller selection of vertical investment. As TGS pointed out the modes prefer different units.

Niche 4*s (ideally C6 but depends) you should build for your selected DPS:

And finally these are not must-build supports, but if you have them at C6 they could prove useful:
- Dori
- Thoma
- Lynette (but you should prioritize Sucrose)
For me, this is better than classic Abyss. It's way more creative especially in character draft. I hope I can beat the hard mode, but I'm not sure because I don't have many characters. Is there anyone that can borrowed me Alhaitham? 😂
this is gonna make characters with less er requirements gonna be used more i think, since a lot of character won't be paired with their ideal battery most of the time

@@LoveYourself-318 Yes you misread you literally just proved his point, if you dont play Xiangling with Bennett youre gonna need like 300% ER on XL because hes a great battery for her.
And just because two characters have the same element it doesnt mean they can battery each other, for example, Xiangling and Thoma cant really battery each other because both have long CD of their E and dont produce a lot of particles themselves. This is the same as Beidou and Lisa for example, which both want Fischl as their ideal battery.
Xiangling still can be in this mode together with Bennett though no? Since they are from same element. Same goes for Xiao and Faruzan
@@LoveYourself-318But you can't depend on RNG to give you both the energy dependent character and their elemental battery. So you can get Xiangling first and have to wait after 3 stages to finally get Bennett. Thus, energy head characters will struggle since they would have to depend on initially having them in your team lineup when you basically start off with the opening cast as your roster.
I built a lot of different characters. I usually only farm artifacts until i feel like i dont make any significant progress. Its the perfect mode for me. I am already hyped.
I like how, instead of asking how good your characters are built, it asks instead how good can you perform with limited resources. It tests your agility to use unconventional teams and your knowledge of team building. As far as I am concerned, this is very interesting.
It also asks how much did you gacha to make sure you have enough characters to even play this mode 😂

I’m not gonna have enough characters of each type to clear lmao. Gonna have to do a lot of solo-ing. Gonna be using my friends’ neuvillettes.
Excited for this new game mode. For me it incentivises building different characters, and experimenting with different builds and teams much more than the abyss.
Unironically the best thing about this new endgame is the incentive to go back and work on forgotten, but otherwise servicable units. I'm thinking I'll want to build Yanfei, Gaming, Sara, hell maybe even Razor, before the mode releases!
The only thing that bothers me, is the blessing that gives 20% additional hp, def and atk, even tho it's cool, I wanna see how much damage my character actually does, I just wish there was an option to disable it outside the imaginarium theater, but I haven't seen anything mentioning a disabling option
In other words, characters with incredible raw damage, meaning no reactions, will do well in the new content

Finally! I've been doing no-repeated-character runs of Abyss to give myself a reason to use all my built characters, so I'm super excited for this.
Also glad that WuWa and Genshin are giving each other some healthy competition. I don't think it's a coincidence that more endgame content was announced around the same time as WuWa's launch.
We are trading less abyss for the exact same "get a star in time limit" stuff but with even more restrictions. Big meh, extremely disappointing that nearly 4 years lead to only this.

It's not the same. There is no time limit for primogems. The stars are traded for emotes, guys, not for peimogems. You simply need to clear 8 acts. This game mode is legitimately quantity over quality unlike Abyss' quality over quantity. Quality of teams mattermore than quantity in abyss as well as the quality of your abyss runs determining the reward you get while Theater is about "the more, the merrier" the more acts you just clear, no matter how long it takes, the more rewards you get.
It's like how Hoyo's story writing is paid per word rather than by salary but with a condition for quality writing.
Abyss more focuses on the quality of your teams,, even if it is less.
Now that it's out, I think it's actually easier than the Abyss, and can be maxed out way earlier.
I feel like this new endgame content forces you to think not only about the teams, but also what characters to bring, as well as letting people be creative with the situation at hand

In my opinion, getting trial characters in an end game mode doesn't make any sense to me. It makes it feel like just another limited event as opposed to an actual end game mode. Especially the part where you can use a friend's character. I'll be happy if I'm wrong though.

Honestly...I think the mode looks fun. It reminds me of all those events that force you to stick with the trial characters they give you and you have to figure out how to use them effectively because you can only use them twice and then they are gone.

I'm actually REALLY excited for this new mode! I have a tendency to build characters once, until they're decent, then forget about them until their builds start showing too many cracks to keep kicking the can down the road (I have Kaeya on BS with 18 percent crit rate, and half the time I use him on Melt teams because you can't Freeze bosses. I have yet to fix it, because I don't really need to. He functions just fine without being able to crit! And also my traveler is on 2pc guilded 2pc emblem instead of 4pc guilded because i wasn't going to spend the next month farming to get the poor guy ER substats bc i was too stubborn to drop the EM sands. He uses that same build as geo traveler too btw, just a glorified crystallize bot lmao) The only exception is Venti, who's my main, and who I will devote all my resources to. Am I salty that his ratio is still only 77:131? Yes, but he has 2195 ATK, so he's doing fine.
In fact, two of the best DPS builds on my entire account are Tighnari (1421 ATK, 367 EM, 52:144) and Lisa (1324 ATK, 112 EM, 65:142) which goes to show that my standards are definitely NOT high enough to properly clear the abyss (i've only ever cleared twice, and the highest amount of stars i've gotten was 29. I usually only get 26). It doesn't help that my best builds are for healers (Baizhu, Kokomi, Mika, Jean, Layla (shielder lol)), so I can definitely survive anything you throw at me, but I can't actually kill anything within the time limit, especially if I want stars. The abyss just isn't fun for me because the time limit means I rarely actually manage to fight the fun enemies because the annoyingly tanky basic ones are soaking up all my dps and taking up too much time. If you said I could only get the rewards in the first 3 minutes, fine, but to make a hard 10 minute time limit? Well now I always time out because my account is focused on survivability instead of DPS. From what I can tell, this mode doesn't actually have a time limit, only a reward for clearing faster, which is just fine by me! I don't care much about the rewards, I just want to fight things without timing out!
So this kind of game mode, that's easier but values a lot of decently built characters rather than a few really well built ones? Right up my alley! Especially since I ALREADY chop up my intended teams to counter the enemies in the abyss (i should've brought sunfire to floor 12, maybe I would've gotten a star, but nooo, i wanted bennett on side two for the inquitious baptist), so I'm used to not bringing my intended "optimal" teams! (Keqing, Chongyun, Bennett, Kazuha and Venti, Xingqiu, Beidou, Mika for Floor 11, anyone?)
I'm just glad this first round isn't Geo, because I haven't built Noelle, Gorou, or Ningguang yet, so I'd only have Traveler lol. In fact, I have JUST enough characters for this round! The hardest mode needs 18 characters, which I believe counts the 6 that they force upon you, so, in reality, 12. Hoyo stole my faruzan (but my build is probably better anyway, they'll probably put her on emblem and i've got her on noblesse), but I've also got Venti, Kazuha, Jean, and Traveler for Anemo (4), Bennett and Yanfei for Pyro (6), Keqing, Beidou, Fischl, and Lisa for electro (10), alongside a wonderful Baizhu (11), and I can steal a Xiao, Heizou, Sayu, Sucrose, Lynette, Razor, Dori, Kuki, Xiangling, Amber, Thoma, Xinyan, or Gaming from a friend! (12)
So, yeah! Really excited, and I hope it's as fun as it looks! I just, uh, need to farm talent domains for Yanfei first. Yanfei's at 2/2/4 rn... i completely forgot to build her talents lol, no wonder she only hits 2k CAs

Every thing in this game mode looks nice with Special Boons, Stage Effects, Rewards and how it looks BUT WHY THE FUCK WOULD THEY FLOP GAMEPLAY LIKE THAT, Why did they think forcing players to build more character (IF they have them) which they don't enjoy and not only that but from a pool of 3 elements only out of 7, 6 of characters you HAVE TO PLAY and after all that you can't even select some of the characters you want directly WTF. It better stay easy because after I have been forced to build/roll characters that I don't enjoy only for them to suck because they aren't build to clear main abyss THEN FUCK THAT.

It seems inspired to one of my most disliked events. I’m not happy to see that thing becoming a permanent game mode.
Genshin is a game designed around teams of 4 characters and the vast majority of characters are designed to feel good to play when they are in the right full teams, with good synergies going on and no downtime.
This new game mode will make playing good teams really tedious and often not even possible.
I think it is a nice idea for a game mode, but for some other game, not Genshin.

You’d be surprised how usable some units are with less than perfect artifacts. Fill-in pieces are better than none
And if worse comes to worst, the trial units will be serviceable

As far as I know, the mode doesn't allow you to use any less than 4 characters in each stage. So you would need to use characters 18 times in total

Since Arlecchino and Clorinde are in the opening 6 which you MUST choose either trial or your own, does that mean that on the next character selection screen you won't be able to set/use them in the friend slot?

So basically they create an endgame similar to rougelike but with extra handicap. The extra handicap are your character pool and build.
I'm relatively new to Genshin so this mode can be more challenging for people like me who still have small pool of Characters and not yet fully build that many powerful 4 stars beside the power 5.
Just a tip: once you hit ar 55, you will be able to brows for players between 55 and 60 and add them to your friend list. You dont have to talk to them and a friend request cost nothing :)

I mean, they are just proposing again the same lame event we had a couple of months back (Triumphant Frenzy or whatever it was called) with minor changes here and there under the "endgame content" mask.
Abyss needs a refresh, but this pretty bad game mode certainly ain't it.

“minor changes” is doing a lot of work for you. That event had potential bc it introduces strategizing which units to bring to navigate the “vigor” feature.
Now that they removed the event gimmick and added certain blockers, this will test your synergy knowledge and adaptability moreso than abyss ever will imo

What if you do not have enough built characters? In the hard version you need 18 in total including 6 trials and 1 friend character, right?
You'd need minimum 10 characters other than the opening cast if you have any of the special guest characters. You'd need just 14 for normal mode so you should just work your way up.
Good news is that build quality doesn't have to be great.
I read somewhere that in order to enter hard mode, you need to have 18 characters in either of the 3 specified elements at level 70 or above.
